For what it's worth, the Purito website reveals this product's SPF/UVA-PF testing data from two different labs (one American and one Korean). The American lab concluded there to be an average SPF of 71.4 and UVA-PF of 17.9, while the Korean lab found an SPF of 57.4 and UVA-PF of 16.65, after both had tested ten different subjects for each test respectively.

What keeps me from using Korean/Japanese sunscreens (even though I use and love a lot of Korean skincare) is the low UVA protection they offer... I know that's how they can keep the formulas so nice and pleasant to use, but I much rather give up a little on cosmetic elegance and continue to use European sunscreens that offer PPDs in the 30s and 40s, since UVA protection is the main reason I use sunscreen in the first place. Edited: spelling.
@J_Mock923 жыл бұрын
@@marcia6010 I can definitely understand that, but don't feel the same way personally. My skin is oily and doesn't fare well under heavy occlusives, so I'd much rather use something with a lighter and more comfortable texture day-to-day. As a Korean I confirm that popular “korean” skincare brands in the U.S. or elsewhere don’t exist most of the time or are not popular in Korea. This always drives me nuts.. I had never heard of Purito prior to coming to the US and other brands like Farmacy, peach&lily, Pyung Kang Yul, I’m from, I dew care, Soko Glam,… none. In reality Koreans love French skincare brands like La Roche Posey and American brands like Cetaphil, along with Korean brands like Dr Jart, Innisfree (used to be popular but now gets revenues from outside korea), and some exclusively domestic brands. You never know.. these “korean” brands might not even be korean.
@svogel64593 жыл бұрын
I've definitely seen non-korean ~korean skincare but they were pretty easy to spot (turned the packaging around and it said made in Great Britain, quick google search confirmed that it was indeed a british company that had slapped some korean on their products) Idk I'm inclined to believe that those popular brands are indeed korean (I'm sure they would have been exposed at this point otherwise) I just don't trust them all that much anymore 🤡 But when asking why they're so popular abroad you have to consider that the easily to young ppl in europe/usa accessible skincare is so bottom of the barrel that any small newcomer brand that just mixes water, glycerin and hyalauronic acid without alcohol manages to impress. It was probably just easier for them to go after low hanging fruit instead of trying to enter the harder domestic market

Odile Monod has a video about her top 5 sunscreens... I had not heard of most of them but ordered 2 of the "outdoor sunscreens" she mentions through Stylevana. Maybe you could review those sunscreens in another vid?

I think I’ll still buy this to wear at home. I hope someone independently test this though. I’ve moved on to UltraViolette for my outdoor sunscreen. They’re Australian brand, and considering how fierce the sun is in here.

I'm actually really excited to try this sunscreen and this video reaffirmed my decision to go with this one! I'm inside all the time now because of Covid and the winter. I was looking for something to wear daily and indoors that didn't feel heavy or annoying to put on when not even leaving the house. This seems great for that 😁I'll use something more reliable for the summers/outdoors.

Did you get it ? How is it ?
@sarahhg28282 жыл бұрын
@@DanielSmith-fm4fs I did! I like it a lot. It goes on lightweight and feels pretty barely-there as far as sunscreen goes. I put it on after vit c serum and moisturizer every morning and no issues so far.

Speaking of combination sunscreen, I am very, very curious why most Asian combos use titanium dioxide instead of zinc oxide? Especially when you can get transparent ZO that doesn't leave a white cast, and ZO protects against UVA1 while TO2 does not.

It may be a repeat of comments but from what I have seen is that the new sunscreen is not sold in Korea. That is perhaps not a good sign of faith?

Just wanted to say a big thank you for the informative post as usual; i love learning new things, including about my skin and how i can improve it, but also to understand the industry and products better. Odile's channel is very interesting indeed and thank you for pointing us in her direction too. Learn something new everyday :-) Thankful, that even though late in life, i have discovered skincare. It's been good for my skin, good for my mood and actually quite good for stimulating my brain too :-) so big thank you!
