The white oak that I have are dry and precise with very little overtone. They are wonderfully heavy and solid. The most well made drum I have have played to date…… peace. If you get to Chicago in the summer we can jam on the lakefront. Happy holidays to you and your family.

Thanks Eric. I've had my eyes on these for a long time. Maybe when my ship comes in. Until then, it's LP Classics- Recently, I got tired of my 11" ringing like a beast, so I tuned it down, tuned my conga up, and they've switched places. They sound great now. You see any problem with this seemingly obvious fix? G

Thank you Eric for your detailed review of Mopercs. It gave me more data and sound sample than any other source before - much appreaciate that! It made me to think again about upgrade but still a lot to concider regarding these days economics... Just one question. Based on your experience what head sizes of Mopercs would you recommend for me as I am using set of three: Tumba tuned low (E3 - G3) conga (B3 - D4) and quinto (F4 and higher). I was thinking about 13"-12"-11" setup but I was so surprised hearing your conga tuned as high as my quinto without any problems. Thanks for your help.

I'm focused on the 11.75" Conga because that is what I have right now. Its sounds great, even with the 2mm thick steer Manito heads. I like a versatile sound to explore a wider range of tones. My issue was with then traditional rims, but you did answer my concern about where to place the lower palm on the rim by re-evaluating my technique and hand position. I know that I will cut my hand on those rims, as they appear to be very beefy compared to other traditional rims. I'm also wondering how much that Conga weighs - I'm assuming well over 35 lbs. The shape its perfect - a full belly body vs. LP's Classic tapered shape and/or Gon Bops' narrowish body on Mariano/California series. Thanks for going through all of these drums, Eric!

Hi! I enjoy your vídeos! Thank you! I have a question that may be you can answer - in your opinion what are the best congas, the Giovanny galaxy or the Moperc? May be you can make a comparative vídeo of both, that would be very nice!

I ended up using thinner heads on mine. I had thicker ones as well. The dry sound is something getting use to. I personally don’t think that they’re worth the money. They’re beautiful but the sound is not 1200 worth. Get galaxy palladiums or older galaxies from GH.

Hey Eric, are these drums totally custom models or are they mass-produced drums anyone can buy? What makes me nuts about my congas is that the maker doesn't mark anywhere exactly what model they are so I can't be sure I'm buying the right replacement heads. I think if a maker loves their drums, they should give them a name!

Yeaaaa well I know they’ve been backed up a bit… partly my fault haha but they do eventually get back to you… just something to keep in mind, they are a very small company with very few employees… but they eventually get back to you with what you need and then work on your drums in a timely manner.

Hey Eric what did you meant with the drum thats gonna break in alot faster at 28:20?
@APercussionLife
@APercussionLife 3 жыл бұрын
Because of its use… since it’s the drum I’m using more (11.75”), which then causes me to change its tuning range more and it’s the one most frequently hit…. Drums require time to “break in”… the more you use it, the faster the drum settles in to get an even better sound… so after a month it’s the drums thats broken in more since it’s been the most used drum out of the 4

Eric, why did you decide to stay with Manito Percussion skins and not the Moperc ones? I got my quote for the ones I want from Moperc, but should I consider getting the Manito Percussion skins? I have Meinl congas now, should I just buy the heads from Manito Percussion?
@APercussionLife
@APercussionLife 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jose! It was just a personal choice for me, but the skins Moperc has to offer are high quality as well… they wouldn’t put bad skins on their drums. I will have the skins Moperc offers on some other stuff I’m getting soooo yea haha
@APercussionLife
@APercussionLife 3 жыл бұрын
And for your other question…. Upgrading your skins on your Meinl’s will make a change in the sound of your drums for the better… but I’m letting you know… as amazing my Meinls sounded with Manito skins on them…. It doesn’t compare to the Mopercs sound… and that’s not on the Manito skins… that’s just on the build of the drum and Mopercs build is 🔥🔥🔥

Those are manito percussion skins. You can get them there. Based on Eric's recommendation in another video I ended up buying some skins and put them on really cheap CP congas. The experiment was a total success. The help from manito percussion was great and made the process of putting the heads great. The result of the experiment: I get people telling me how great the CPs sound. Now, these are not old school CPs, these are the LP lowest line. I just recently got Meinl congas and with h20 Buffalo skins (booo!). I will be getting some new skins from manito. I recommend it. :-)
