Thanks, Faye, for showing some basics operation of the display and removal of the passenger seat. I just bought mine here in Colorado, USA on Friday before New Years Eve, 2022. Originally I wanted the Z400 but after watching every KZbin review of both bikes twice and seeing that the wait for a 400 at my dealer would be months, I splurged for the Z650. It has more torque and more controllable speed to keep up with lawless Americans on our freeways and I think I will enjoy and be safer because of it.

They’re great the 650s. I’m not sure if the US was the same but the UK stopped making 400s for a while because the 650s could be restricted and modified but Kawasaki has bought them back in the 2023 range and I must say the look 👌🏼

I have been saving for a middleweight naked bike and was torn between z650 and the popular mt07. But today I sat in both and I feel more comfortable on the z560. I appreciate any input you can give me. But this review made me more leaning towards the z650

I’m glad it helped! I really struggled to find cons with the Z to be honest but I’m researching into potentially getting a Honda CB650R. I love how aggressive it looks but the Z is such a decent and reliable bike!

Like your bike Faye, it’s on my list when I sell the 701. The tail tidy is a good improvement. On my last 4 or 5 bikes I always added R&G engine case covers as the engine cases tend to be mega expensive if you slip off it. I reckon your bike is perfect for you though, just go enjoy it😉. The red button is definitely called the Kill Switch!!🤣

Thank you, it’s such a perfect machine! Even the smallest scratch can cost a fortune if you’re not careful with the casing. Plus you can get some really nice ones I remember when I was doing my motorbike training they said ‘what’s this’ when I called it a kill switch they looked at me and said yeah I wouldn’t tell the DVLA that on your test 😂😂

I was considering getting a Z400 for a first bike, but the Z650 is the one I'd like to be on in a few years, and I read that it has a rain riding mode. Would using said mode make it more amenable to a brand-new rider, or would starting on a Z400 be more advisable?

I’ve never ridden a 400 but before I had my license I didn’t think I would go any higher than 400s but I trained on a 650 and now I’m looking at 1000s! Is there a particular reason for looking at the 400 instead of the 650?

@@fayesout2540 The only reason I was looking at the z400 is b/c there's a strong consensus to not start on anything greater than a 600cc at least in regards to sport bikes, whether naked or faired. Reviews of the Honda CB500F describe it as good but unexciting, and the performance of MT03 seems a little anemic in comparison to the Z400, though it's very high quality in all other aspects. I don't really aspire to ride anything bigger than 650cc, though, and it would be more cost efficient to buy the z650 as opposed to buying the z400, selling it, then buying the Z650. Kawasaki's website states that the Z650, Vulcan S 650, and the Versys 650 are all new rider friendly, but those latter 2 aren't sport bikes, so their new rider friendliness probably doesn't translate to the Z650.

@@robertocojones4471 I would personally recommend getting the 650. Like you say it’s cost effective and you’ll fall in love with it. The speed is there but only if you want it to be

@@fayesout2540 Much obliged. What are your thoughts on initially running it in rain mode for at least a few months? Would that make it more new rider friendly? Also, by about how much does rain mode reduce its power?
