Had an 'S' in 1999, the original curvy. Was my first bike over 600cc and was a fantastic machine to learn the ropes on. Great fun in the twisties and the sound when uncorked made the hair on the back of your neck stand on end. Good to see it's still available in a new improved form for a new generation of riders.... That engine is an absolute peach.

@@nickclarkuk have owned a lot of bikes since the sv. Supersports, cruisers, hypersports, sumo's but currently running a 2008 versys 650. Makes less than half the power of my last bike, a z1k, but it's so much fun to ride. Think of it as a fat supermoto. Do I prefer it over the sv? Yeah, it's bigger and comfier with longer travel suspension. Do I still think the sv is awesome? Definitely. It's a bike that will make you a better rider. If you can ride the limits of an sv, you can handle pretty much anything. Some dismiss it as a starter bike and ignore it. Their mistake, they will be surprised when you fly past mid corner knee down laughing.

Honestly MT-07 does most things just a little better than the SV these days, especially after the 2018 suspension updates. Bigger engine, bigger torque, nearly the same HP, 30 less pounds weight, fatter rear tire, better front brakes, better MPG, less vibration down low, sounds just as good with exhaust (more full systems available aftermarket by far), has a much better factory seat. Reduce weight and it's well into the high 300-pounds range. With the XSR you can get some retro styling. All that said, with experience on both bikes, I've owned no less than 4 of the 2007-2009 SV650 model motorcycles over the years, one at a time. Up and down the CC scales. Very much love the updates to the motor these days, but do prefer the styling of the aluminum framed versions 2nd gen. I have a soft spot for the SV. MT-07 just tips the scales for me in most ways. That said, I'm on a MT-09 currently.

Sorry, I owned a DL650. I agree it's a good starter bike because the gearing really dogs this bike down. And it just isn't as fast because there's more moving parts in a V to get the mass moving. I think of the three you mention it's the slowest in the quarter mile. I own a 2018 MT07. It (my MT) was probably a better bike before the suspension mods. I have the rear suspension set very soft just so my ass doesn't hop off the seat all day and destroy my kidneys! The ergos of the SV were the best, but I'm 6'2" and 180. I think all three would benefit with clip-ons as far a I'm concerned but of the three the SV would kill in retro styling with that mod. Then again, right now the SV reminds me of the discontinued Kawasaki ER6N. My favorite bike to go out and just rip the piss out of is my 1986 Yamaha SRX600. Even with a very narrow seat it's more comfortable all day for me because of the lean to the clip-ons. At a full wet weight of 287 pounds and one massive single cylinder, jetted perfectly for Florida, the SRX is just a blast up to 100mph. None of the new models are anywhere close to as narrow as my SRX. I get 55mpg on the SRX. 47-48 mpg on my MT07. Technology sometimes makes me laugh. Oh yeah, my SRX runs a SuperTrapp muffler, sans packing. Sounds like a Harley. Even they look at it when I pull to a stop. Lmao. I will say the engine on MT is stellar. Sounds great. But it should be used across platforms. IMO they should put it in dual sports, cruisers, etc. I'd personally like them to get rid of the plastic tank panels and give it a longer wheelbase. If the tank were metal and the same size it'd have like a 6-6.5 gallon tank. THAT would be awesome!

Sorry but remark about the mirrors is really BS. Once setup in the right position (only one is right - regarding the arm angle) one can twist the mirror itself with hand and it keeps its position well. I can see behind me, not my elbows like on some bikes. Different seat position makes them unusable? Yeah if by a different seat position you mean another bike lol. Just twist the mirror into a good (for you) position and you're all set. Also, this is subjective, headlight is perfect. Timeless and it won't go out of style like for instance fz07 already is. It will look awesome for decades, just look at the 1st SV gen. Alien looking bikes get old reaaaly quickly.

I run 70 at around 5,000rpm. stopping is weak, but maybe because it's NEW or because I didn't get the anti-lock brakes( who the Hell want's anti-lock brakes on a fucking bike?). the mirrors do suck. it's hard to see past my arms in the mirrors. and they are a BITCH to adjust. the seat is SHIT... I keep sliding forward as I ride. my fucking balls get squished against the tank. I have to keep standing up and re-seating myself while I ride the damn thing,,,lol. the main thing I don't like about the bike...... it did not come with a windshield,,,, WHAT THE FUCK???? I had to pay $135.00 for a windshield....suck my ASS. dont know definition but it can have 2 stuff to consider angle between cylinder itself and how those cylinder are setup in frame if im must do definition than ltwin be with one cylinder paralell to the ground vs vtwin with diffrent angle to the ground dosent matter at which angle cylinders are to each other itself 👌🏻

squishing. Over bumps on a sport bike with fully adjustable suspension? You have compression and rebound damping and spring preload adjustments there is no reason in hell to have a harsh ride on the street you have alot of research to do!!!!!!!!!!

why would i buy this one over the first one from 1999?
@TheDeceptikron6 жыл бұрын
its 19 years newer for one? its got EFI, it's got more HP, you wont find a 99 with low miles, the '99 suffers from the 325cc issue
