Great Video! As a First Responder professional, I`d say you have a good first aid kit there! One other thing I carry is a "Sam splint" in the event of a broken or sprained bone. Its a flexible/malleable splint that can be used to splint many different bones or joints! Thanks for going through your horse first aid kit! I definitely got some valuable pointers and things I need to add to mine! I like the hard sided tackle box/case! Do you take any sort of Boot in case you get a badly chipped or injured hoof? Could you also make a video showcasing the "tools" you take for your horses? such as extra shoes, hoof knife, shoeing hammer etc? Thanks and keep the videos coming!

Thanks for the comments. I do carry a Sam splint in my gear bag, if just forgot to show it as it didn’t fit in my first aid kit and I forgot about it when filming this. My father is a Paramedic and insisted I start carrying one a few years back after I broke my ankle on an elk hunt. I cover some of the Horseshoeing stuff on the how to series video “4 Day Horse - Pack Trip” but may do a stand alone video yet on how to shoe a horse. I haven’t dialed in my setup for backcountry shoeing yet and seems like do something different each year. The only thing I haven’t done is take a boot (largely because I’ve never used boots) but maybe that will be in next year’s kit!

I find that if you have a bad injury on a horse that sanitary napkins rapped with vet rap and excellent bandage.
