Morgan, I've been fortunate enough to own 2 homes. Remodeled 1 and built 1 from the ground up. Yes, there are many headaches, especially if you live in an area with strict building codes, red tape, and delays. If I knew you personally, I would tell you... "Nothing worthwhile in life is easy" Let that be your new mantra. The general contractor you hired is doing a phenomenal job for you, he is doing everything by the book which will only benefit you as a homeowner. As your home ages you will have fewer upkeep nightmares, and structural problems, well that's my hope for you. It's a beautiful home you helped design, and you paid for with your hard work, blood sweat, and tears! When it's finished and the keys are turned over to only you, you will feel so satisfied and proud that you realized your dream! It may not be the journey you anticipated, but all roads are leading to the desired end result! You are making your vision a reality! Not many people at any age can say that. These government headaches will pass, and you will be in your home soon. Be proud, take a deep breath, and pat yourself on the back for a job well done! Congratulations!
