haha! I got such a laugh out of little Malcolm running and taking that tumble! I wouldn't have laughed if he got hurt but it was obvious it didn't bother him a bit lol! Great job getting that all cleaned up - that was a job and a half for sure. The party looked awesome. She will always remember her 16th for sure!

Jessie, you work so hard! And I agree with you, when I host an event I don’t expect guests to clean up! But…..my family always pitches in and helps with cooking and cleaning especially now that I’ve gotten so darn old! 😂 But in the olden days, I cooked for days getting ready for holidays (never mind all the cleaning and decorating) and after dinner my husband would bring me a cup of coffee, tell me to just sit and relax and he would do the clean up, and he did a pretty darn good job of it too. I like the Rae Dunn stuff, IMO it suits your kitchen and somehow your laid back personality. So if you love it then love it! Personally I find it refreshing to see someone loving their home and not constantly trying to change stuff out to keep up with trends. 😊

We recently moved to Ocala, Florida. My family is about 5 hours driving distance away. So this Christmas is just me and my husband! But that's ok! We get to see grandchildren at New year's! 😀💖

Yes! As the kids get older everything changes! I spent the last 44 years spending Christmas with my kids and then grandkids! This is the first year we'll be alone! But it will be nice and quiet and cozy! 😀

Hi Jessie. Party planning is fun but all the afterwards is rough. I normally try to have a Christmas family party but this year I just wasn't feeling it. Lol. Parties are expensive and exhausting. Her party looked so cute and you did a great job with everything. I never want my guests to help with cleanup because to me it takes longer to tell people what to do and where things go than if I just do it later after everyone leaves. Plus I like sending leftovers home with people. I have a couple family members coming Christmas eve for dinner but Christmas day is going to be quite and peaceful! Hope you have a great rest of the day.

You definitely need an anti fatigue mat, I have one by my sink and it's a lifesaver because it's so tough on your body to stand on hard tile floors for a long time. Just hosted family for several days, it's a lot of work to prep and clean up after their stay. You're killin' it!

I understand completely what you are saying when you talk about having one party then breaking it down just to start all over again. My oldest son’s birthday is also on the 21st and then my daughter’s is January 4 so it’s boom boom boom one celebration after another. I am the same way Jessie. I do not make our guests help clean up either. I’m like you, I’d rather have them relax and have a good time We have the kids and grandkids on Christmas Eve and it usually depends on the year,, some times we will go to my sisters Other times we host Christmas Day. I don’t mean to sound like a grinch, but this year I am looking forward to it being over. Need a lot of relax time Malcolm did turf it!! Hi Carolyn, I am a pie baker too, thought I’d share one of my favorites with you, it’s so good and so easy, and yet it took me ages to get it right. It’s a German Chocolate pie, inspired by Marie Callender’s restaurant bakery. I use my Mom’s recipe for chocolate cream pie, and just a couple of minutes before it’s reached the desired thickness I add chopped pecans and coconut, about 3/4 cup of each, top with meringue and that’s it. My daughter in law is making pies this year, and I’m making a 3 layer coconut cake with pineapple between the layers, it was my Mom’s recipe too. I’m curious about what people are cooking for Christmas dinner, I think most people will do the traditional turkey or ham, we usually do one of those too, but my favorite for our small family is a crown roast with stuffing in the center. It’s so special. I often make it for Easter. Anyway, Merry Christmas! 🎄

Not a snob, just prefer other brands. So I will just check what they can substitute, and hope for the best.

I usually go to my moms Christmas Eve but due to possibly bad weather we are going to do it Thursday night. We have Christmas here at my house after breakfast we open gifts. The day before Thanksgiving I was told I have life threatening heart condition and I need surgery. Well I don’t have insurance my Dr is working on helping me get some. So this could be my last Christmas. Don’t know what will be in store. It depends on surgery.
