Another good video, thanks for the content. What did you say around the 7:44 - 8:00 mark?

Cut the long part of the scribe with the chop saw , then finish with the jigsaw.. you’ll get a better cut & it’s quicker. 👍🏼

Good video, the trend skeleton jig makes life easier and fitting doors more fun doesn't it. I see you got the 780 flexvolt, I got a bit sick of lumping it about so got the 777 as well for the smaller jobs, a man can never have enough tools. 👍
@jackhines37474 жыл бұрын
Very true 😂 yes it is very lumpy especially when you can’t close to where you are working and you have to carry the dam thing over trenches etc.

Hey buddy, great videos. Love your content.. I’m looking at starting my own KZbin, what you recommend and what do you use to film. Cheers

Hi mate do you screw your hinge jig on?
@jackhines37474 жыл бұрын
Yes mate I do tend to, a lot quicker. The brads never last long and can be a nightmare if you hit a knot etc 👍🏻

Hi Jack, great video! you make it look so easy 😅. I live in a Victorian Terrace and have a few doors that have splits in the door jamb hinge side, i was wondering if you could advise on the easiest way to rehang to door? trying to keep as much of the original house as i can so i was thinking if invested in a multi-tool and cut out the hinge sections could i glue replacement pieces of wood? Let me know what you think 👍
@jackhines37474 жыл бұрын
Thanks Brett, sorry for the late reply only just seen this. Definitely sounds like a patch in the frame should do the job and a multi tool will sure help. Hope it goes well

Jack, you mentioned doing the Newell’s and and handrail soon.. any chance of seeing a full video on that, materials, fixings etc.
@jackhines37474 жыл бұрын
I didn’t get any footage of newels and handrail unfortunately mate! Somethings I just didn’t get time to film.

House is looking well mate. Bit of a pain taking doors on and off. That’s the beauty of working in other people’s houses..... paintwork is not on your list of things to do🤣.

Is that the 12inch flexvolt saw? How do you find it? And blade wobble? Probably does, if it does is it bad....do you use the mains adaptor with it?
@jackhines37474 жыл бұрын
No it’s the 250mm mate, doesn’t have to option to add the adapter on this saw, it only takes one flex volt battery. Yes still get some blade wobble to be honest and I find the it wobbles less with a newer charged battery. Must be cuz of the power output? not sure to be honest.

@@jackhines3747 wicked mate. please do. I'm in two minds whether to get the flexi or not. I want the 305mm but heard the deflection is pretty bad. currently using a shitty evolution one that I hate. It's like the gillette razor/printer ink scheme. Sell u the unit cheap then fuck u on the blades.. I've got one of those yankee occidental toolbelts. Don't know if u watch the perkin brothers builders but my set up is the same as the guy that cut his fingers off. Also what hammer u using? It looks like the 19oz estwing framer with black handle. I use the same but with the leather grip

Yeh it is a lump to be honest, I try not to move around to much once it’s set up I try to stay there ! It is a great saw tho

I have a question mate, can you be too much of a perfectionist as a carpenter, I find it hard to balance speed and quality of work but you always want to do a good job but be productive
@jackhines37474 жыл бұрын
I’d say not mate, there is defiantly times when perfection matters more than other e.g doing stud work gives you more tolerance than when working in 2nd fix/trim work. Always try to have neat work, once you’ve got than down then look at being more efficient and productive. Hope this helps
@charlierodgers27764 жыл бұрын
@@jackhines3747 but surely even with 2nd fix work you have some tolerances ? For example when hanging a door let’s say your gaps range from 3-5mm would that be acceptable?
@iTzZToMMyD4 жыл бұрын
@@charlierodgers2776 hi charlie, gaps of these doors should be 2.5-3mm. you can get away with 4mm normally but if your fitting the door linings they should be no bigger than 3mm providing the door has a leading edge .
