Definitely have to fill one of my humidifiers daily, save the major watering/pest checks for the weekend when I have more time, but I do a daily glance over everything and admire how pretty all the plants are :)

Fern, it is so admirable how you take such great care of 100+ plants! I have 20 houseplants, and as a newbie plant mom who still has a lot to learn, that is enough for me!! Well,I am not exactly a newbie but I often feel like I am. I started having house plants about 35 years ago, but didn't know how to take care of them, but now since my children are grown and gone, I have the time and many learning resources to help me!..... I'm just learning aswell. I have 8 total now...although I started sticking with more cactus n aloe type plants because I find I have an over watering problem . My 9 year old son bought me a beautiful African Violet however , I Dnt think she's goin to survive. I believe I let her get too dry, so switched her to a new pot with new soil and watered her as she did have new growth so I had high hopes, then my dog came and knocked her down, so I'm guessing she prob won't make it FRM all the stress. However , got a philodendron Birkin, and really did alot of research to make sure I take good care of her . Wish me luck. If I do well I plan on finnally adding a few more actual plant types 🤞🤞🌵💚

Watching this late at night while watering some plants that need it. Even set reminders to water certain plants and my phone just like didn't go off for the reminders??? So my Aglaonema and Alocasia missed their waterings by a couple weeks. Thankfully I keep my room at 70% humidity or more and my plants are very well established so I didn't really see any issues from missing watering them. Have some new projects going on, I repotted a cute Alocasia micholitziana baby from my mother plant, hoping that takes and I can sell it locally. I also I have a gorgeous, new Aglaonema 'Cutlass' I'm moving into my room after repotting it. Love seeing all the new leaves, crazy aerial root growth on all my philodendron, and flowers. My Schlumbergera truncata 'Orange' randomly decided to flower way out of season?? So currently enjoying the sight of those gorgeous flowers. Love seeing all your updates and how you get excited about the same things I do. I don't have any local plant friends so your videos make me feel like I have someone i'm "close to" that enjoys their houseplants the same way I do. Also LOVE your earrings in the beginning, they're so cute!!! Random question as well, have you noticed on any of your philodendron or monstera that some of their roots grow out the top of the pot?? Not the bottom, but the top??? A bunch of my philodendron and my Monstera deliciosa have aerials that grew down into the soil, hungout for a bit, then came right back out and are like draping over the edge of the pot??? Its so weird and confusing and I haven't been able to find any info online of this happening to other people.

Fern! For the silver sword cuttings, try putting one or two golden pothos cuttings in the water along with it! It's going to help root since pothos produce rooting hormone super fast! I do this with all my cuttings and it works like magic.

I saw fuzzy white stuff on the cut parts of your silver sword and just wanted to give a heads up, you need to change the water, sterilize the container or switch to a different one, and wash your cuttings until you can't see the fuzzy stuff on in any more when it's in water. It's bacteria that is slowly eating away at your plant and will eventually kill it. I made the mistake of ignoring it thinking it was nothing and lost all of my cuttings.

I love that you're trialling new fertiliser! I'm doing the same at the moment.. Am hard out copying you and Sydney plant guy lol, have just transferred all my climbing plants to moss poles (and thanks for the tip about only watering your plank from about halfway, I put some on long poles and I watered from the top and it toppled over haha no idea why I didn't think about the fact it was pointless as well!) and because I'm in New Zealand I can access the GT tech Foliage Focus that Sydney plant guy uses and it's DEFINTELY giving me results! I also use the fertiliser for clones/cuttings as well that GT does called I think CCS, you can mist your cuttings with it on their foliage and they drink it right up. I work from home too so my daily routines look a lot like yours - checking and doing what is needed when needed. Thanks for the video!

Hey girl this was so calming to watch! But I do want to give people an FYI about using tap water in your humidifier, namely, don't. While the minerals / chemicals in tap water are safe to drink, they can be toxic once inhaled and can cause a lot of air pollution in your house (You can check out a study from the University of Alberta about it 🙂). And if you have any sort of respiratory issues (i.e. asthma) over time it can be really aggravating to the condition. Also, besides the mineral residue, aerated tap water can promote the growth of mold and bacteria around your house. So please, please be careful and safe when using your humidifiers! I know buying distilled water is a total pain but better safe than sorry😁

Hey Fern! Love your videos! I'm new (last June) to plant parenting. I live in the Ozarks so we get lots of humidity in Summer but Winter is so dry. Is it normal for most plants to just kinda do nothing in Winter? Also, I don't see anything that looks like a bug, other than a fruit fly that I used mosquito bits to kill. When you get the thrips or something, can you show us what they look like? I've seen pictures but not on a plant. Can you teach us how to look?? Please show us what they look like on the plant and how you get rid of them? I'm a grandma so teach this old dog new tricks, sweet girl. Love ya.
