Maybe it wasn't about her eyes? A prejudice in favour of male offspring is still widespread, especially in the less-developed countries of the world. Another ancient, ignorant, belief is that the wife is 'to blame' for failing to produce male offspring (ignorant, as of course the gender of a baby is determined exclusively by the father). I'm sure I've seen stories, including out of Africa, of wives being abandoned for this reason, especially under pressure from the husband's family. Or maybe there were rumours and gossip about his wife's mother having 'cheated'. It didn't bother him, until he started hearing similar gossip (including from his own family) about his own wife, once the daughters were born with blue eyes? Both explanations would be more consistent with the husband having accepted his blue-eyed wife, but abandoning her after two blue-eyed daughters, than any explanation based on 'blue eyes = witchcraft' types of superstitions.

I have blue eyes... so ANYONE I see, with beautiful blue eyes, I tend to be more aware of. I wasn't even looking at the color of their skin. The fact that some people thought that I was commenting, ONLY based on the skin/eye color combination, shows where THEIR minds are. Not mine. If anything, I was looking at the eye color/poverty contrast, hence, I said give this family a modeling contract, so that they can use the assets that Source gave them, to elevate their financial space in this world.
