Don’t marry a ‘fixer upper’! You will be exhausted and they won’t get fixed or upgraded to a better husband or wife! Marry a person who is always evaluating ‘themselves’ and improving on ‘themselves’ as they grow older and more mature! And thinking that you can change someone after you marry them is a lie! Don’t fall for it or you will suffer and be miserable for the rest of your life, even if you divorce them!

@Johnny Five if you are a solitary person and are happy on your own then there's no reason you shouldn't stay single if you feel strongly about it. However if you just want all the benefits of a wife without any of the responsibility then that is just as much being a man child as other ways. A child wants pleasure with no responsibility. An adult knows all pleasure comes with consequence and responsibility.

I can understand someone who loves fishing, I’m one myself. However a boat and a separate vehicle to pull the boat? That’s a bit much. Now if he were to sit down with his wife and go over their budget, if they even have a budget, and see how long it would be before he can look into purchasing one then that would be different. It’s what my wife and I do. We sit down when one of us are interested in something and we say can we fit this in the budget. If not then we find out how long before we can. I wish her the best of luck.

How and what people spend money on and for will tell you loads about the maturity of an individual. She seems like she is setting goals for herself and trying to achieve them like going to dental school. Mature people set goals. He sounds like he is stuck in his teenage years which is really too bad for her. She will move forward with school and I highly suspect she will indeed get tired of playing the mommy role and will break off their marriage eventually. The older a woman gets the less likely she is going to put up with a childish husband.

Religion is for weak minded people who are afraid of dying and never existing again (as if I can complain about not existing if I no longer exist). Desirability is not a requisite of the truth. God is simply your own ego. I agree with everything Dave says about money and marriage but the rest is pure nonsense. Might as well worship leprechauns for all the good it'll do you.

Daniel Doucet God has sent His only son Jesus Christ who died on the cross and conquered death to pay for the penalty of our sins. Whether you believe or not is your choice, however it is also God who created everything. You think we were formed “by chance.” We’ll explain this, how can you also follow what scientists say how life began, but yet deny the truth of the Holy Bible? You believe God is made up of human ego and yet you believe a scientist(also human)theory of the beginning of creation? By your logic, both ideas of the beginning of creation were thought up by a mans “ego.” Therefore your argument is baseless. Aside from eternal life in heaven, accepting Christ brings joy and peace for yourself in day to day life as well, free from any kind of fear. There is no need for me to fear for my life, whether here on earth or the afterlife, because Christ has already conquered death and made intercession for me. I will pray for your salvation Daniel, for God’s grace knows no bounds, for He sent His Son for all. May the peace of God that surpasses all understanding surround you and keep you.

Charles I can believe science over religion because the science is demonstrably correct.. religion, whichever one it is, is just a story that has yet to prove itself to be anything more. I also find the concept of original sin to be disgusting.. Christianity provides the illness and the cure in this case. How can a baby be guilty of anything? They haven't chosen to be here.

This is why my boyfriend and I aren’t getting married until we are at least in our mid twenties, we both agreed we should take the time to grow as individuals before “I” becomes “we.” If we end up growing in a similar direction, clearly it was meant to be, and it’s okay too if we don’t. There’s no reason to rush that kind of life decision, you should really be with someone long enough to know what they’re like at their highest and their lowest before you legally bind your lives together.

When I "need" a boat, which is not often, I simply rent one by the hour or day. Much cheaper than owning. If I "need" to go striper fishing, which is not often, I call Melton Hill Bill and book a half day, because he does it every day. It's much cheaper than: boat, trailer, truck, insurance, registration, gas, flotation devices, rods, tackle, dealing with the boat ramp, etc. That's just me. Then again, a lot of people I know sink money into boats, which depreciate faster than a rock. I'm okay with that and feel no envy whatsoever. Let them pay monthly for a depreciating asset.

No it is a good thing she now knows… if she gets the realization that his and her behavior and goals are misaligned to this extent at least she has the knowledge and can act on it. She can leave and avoid getting more dependent on him… like having children. That is a good thing… advice should be… learn about this regardless of your spouse’s participation

Ma'am whatever you do don't listen to these strangers in the comments suggesting you leave your husband because he's not on board regarding debt. NEVER listen to anyone who jumps straight to divorce as advice. They do not value marriage. He may come around later. Pray for his heart and yours also. If he doesn't want to do Dave Ramsey's plan ask him to look up other debt payment plans. I believe Ramsey's way is the best way but it's not the only way. Meet in the middle. Also, if he isn't in agreement do your part to get the debt snowball going. It may convince him once he sees the progress. I was on fire when I found out about Dave Ramsey. My husband not so much. He's on board now. Not as excited as I am but I don't need excitement and enthusiasm as long as it gets paid and we stick to the budget lol.

I left my husband because he was acting like a boy. Wanting me to do all the house work and pay all the bills and his money was only for him we never combined our finances because his mother told him that as the head of the household he was to give me an allowance so i could pay the bills and get what else we needed in the house and if what he gave me wasn't enough then obviously I was over spending. But I am sorry with him having his credit card credit line repair bill loan and then a vehicle loan not to mention the loan we took out to pay off his credit card and credit line which he then racked both up again. And I was working 2 jobs just to make ends meet. But both him and his mom said that a woman isn't supposed to work. Mind you i met him at work. Now since i left him all he does is text me that i have to pay his bills because he can't. I told him we couldn't afford to live on his income alone but he didn't believe me. Now I get to tell him told you so lol

Most drs, dds, cpa etc have or had student loans. Some of them enjoy pricey perks like boat and truck/trailer before they are fully paid. My dds has a Porsche. And loans as well. That may or may not be wise. (His admin said it was a police auction item, car confiscated from dealer.) Just saying. With no specifics on $ - neither net worth nor income nor debt amount was mentioned - it was premature for Dave to float the big D.

To the curb. Boot in the behind, kick him to the curb. And good luck. I've been there. It's hard to get him out too. Legally, you can't force him out of the family home unless he is physically abusive. Find out what the laws are in your state. If he breaks the law, then you can have him arrested and removed. I waited a long time for my former husband to do something stupid and I then had him removed. It was a nightmare.

While I think most people should not marry, unless he has abandoned the marriage or is guilty of unrepentant infidelity she does not have a biblical basis for divorce. Her error is she married a ‘bad boy’ for his looks and social standing instead of marrying a godly man.

I would never marry before the age of 30. Until 30 I'll clear all my debts so that I do not burden my wife with those. I'd expect my future wife to do the same for me. I'd also like to live together for at least one year before marrying so that we can discuss our inconveniences with each other and decide whether we should go through with the marriage or not. No one should get emotional and decide to get married just because they're "high on love". Human mind matures after the age of 25. Before that no one ever considers aspects that actually matter before jumping into marriage. Of course, there's a rule of exception that applies everywhere.
