I see she didn’t mention any fruits in her recommended food list (I’m guessing she avoids them because of the natural sugar found in fruit). If anyone’s interested, my nutritionist who specializes in endocrine disorders advised me that fruits are definitely beneficial to health due to their fiber, vitamins and water content, but to consume them earlier in the day rather than later. Forrest berries are excellent to add to oats, yogurt and cereals.
@lamondae2 жыл бұрын
Any reason why they should be consumed earlier in the day?

Oats and cereals are gluten. So there are more discrepancy between your nutritionist and the above promoted diet. Cutting or reducing gluten is what i hear being advised pretty much all the time with hypothyroidism.

I became hypoT after radioactive iodine treatment therapy to treat Graves Disease (severe hyperT). It has been a shock on my whole body and I've gained a lot of weight very quickly. The therapy was aimed at killing the part of my thyroid that was so sick. I honestly have not had this much energy like I have now, I feel I have "detoxified my body" , and I dont feel inflamed internally anymore. Of course I eat veggies lean meat turkey, fish, chicken, alot of water, green tea. And I work out 6 days a week an hour of spinning, and weight lifting. I'm also taking 88 mcg's of Levothyroxine as well. That's how I have managed to stay in shape and living a healthier lifestyle, and painless. Especially with fibromyalgia and chronic pain!! It is actually very common that people who have dairy intolerances also have hypothyroidism. However, the main cause of this is the weakness of the gut. Incorporating even small amounts of dairy like one tablespoon of yogurt or milk in your diet is actually super important. It teaches your body to start releasing those enzymes to break it down without giving you a huge dairy crash of sharp pains. I had cut out all dairy for about 2-3 years of my life along with gluten because of my terrible IBS. Giving my stomach time to heal definitely fixed my gut, and know in small amounts I eat dairy. I don’t eat ice cream or pizza or milkshakes. No no definitely not. I eat about a tablespoon of yogurt a day to start and slowly teach my body again to release those enzymes again.

I would love to see more recipes or food ideas such as snacks, quick meals, lunch, dinners etc. I get so confused and discouraged when I read different books or articles on this subject. Per the podcast I recently was listening to: dairy in general is not good for adults. As we age the lactase disapears in our bodies so we cannot digest it properly. It is for baby cow who has this enzyme. They also said it contains progesteron from a pregnant cow, so it messes with your period (for those who have heavy, painful periods). I personally cut dairy two years ago and my acne disappeared and my periods are less painful. VS models also recommend to cut on dairy two weeks prior runaway. And yes it is unfortunate because chocolate contains milk and it is so delicious. Good that we have alternatives without milk. I also reduced coffee to minimum as well as alcohol (almost none, zero). I don't know if I'm feeling better, because I'm fighting with anemia, but I can tell my skin looks great. Hugs :)

Great video! I’m always happy to see succeed over their thyroid issues! Just wanted to add: As Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis is the leading cause of hypothyroidism, I’d like to point out it’s really important NOT to take/eat iodine when you have Hashimoto’s as it can aggravate the condition. If you have hypothyroidism, and it’s directly because you have tested as deficient in iodine, then you would want to up your intake. I found out I had hypothyroidism when I was 19 and then Hashimoto's in my early 20s. After taking medication for a year and not feeling much better I changed my entire way of eating and my body sorted a lot of it out. I’ve been gluten free for years, and that’s usually the first thing I tell people to change (not a doctor, but I worked with supplements and nutrition for 8 years) as there are a lot of studies about Hashimoto’s gluten sensitivity.

That's exactly what my doctor told me about the iodine, I can only eat very little seafood, seaweed, seamoss, not even sea salt. Causes a massive inflammation which happened to me. Makes me angry when irresponsible ads telling hypothyroidism patients to overdose on iodine. It makes us really sick. Thanks for posting this 🤗

@@merl4119 I would do some research on what works. I found what works for me by experimenting and looking at what current research says, while making sure I got regular blood work. I found gluten, dairy and seaweeds were big triggers for low thyroid symptoms in me, but also found research about connections between hashimoto's and gluten as well. I also avoid excessive amounts of soy and millet. It also takes time and patience; For me, it was after about 2 years that I noticed I felt like a different person in both my energy levels as well as focus and digestion, and my blood work confirmed how I felt.

@@lilacs529 Same here! Makes me sad because I loved seaweed, and people (non-professionals) were always telling me I must need iodine because my thyroid was low. i have been told to wait 4 hours after taking thyroid medicine before taking any vitamins or supplements because it can mess with the absorption of your thyroid medications!!
@JackBauer_864 жыл бұрын
Whoever told you to wait 4 hrs is Clueless, it definitely does NOT take 4 hrs to digest any type of medicine. A liquid medicine begins digestion within minutes of ingesting it and any Capsule/Tablet Medication should be digested within an hour. If you have food in your stomach, it could delay the digestion of the medication by an additional 20-30 minutes. To be on the Safe Side, you could wait 90 minutes between taking your Thyroid Medication and Vitamins/Supplements (but 4hrs is ridiculous and not necessary).

Yes!! I had Hashimotos for years and then had thyroid cancer. I was told that thyroid patients need to eat very little raw spinach, kale etc....just eat them cooked. Also, for anyone reading this, soy really interferes with Synthroid/ Levorhyroxine absorption. Also, my endocrinologist said that thyroid patients need to wait 4 hours from taking medicine and vitamins, especially multi vitamins with iron. Iron blocks Synthroid.
@mama27f6 жыл бұрын
Ashlie Leavelle wait 4 hrs wait???.pls explain
@ashlieleavelle6 жыл бұрын
mama27f I am not sure why, but magnesium, calcium, and iron block the absorption of Synthroid or Levothyroxine medicine. When my endocrinologist told me this, I hadn't been told that before. I looked up, and sure enough, many things online said wait 4 hours between Rx and multivitamin. So I take my Rx in the morning an hour before breakfast and my multivitamin at lunch. I used to eat yogurt in the morning, but since calcium messes with Synthroid I don't eat yogurt at breakfast.
@ashlieleavelle6 жыл бұрын
mama27f medicinenet.org, Walgreens, livestrong, are a few web pages that have more info about nutrients that mess with Synthroid absorption. For anyone who takes Tums or antacids, avoid those also for 4 hours because of the calcium carbonate.

Question, Love your Videos but something Im not sure about. I bought the Culturelle Probiotics Pro well like in your Video, but im returning it cause it has Sugar in it, and sugar isn't good in a probiotic , the label says no sugar which is miss leading, but in the Ingredients. it says Sucrose that is Sugar and it also has" Foods labeled “natural” can be deceiving, and maltodextrin is no different. It's derived from plants, but many are highly processed. Generally, maltodextrin comes from corn, rice, or potato starch. It also can be made from wheat." all things we shouldn't be eating the Other ingredients in this stuff isn't good

Hey Norma! Culturelle works for me and the amounts of all these ingredients are so trace, it functions differently than other foods. Also, I personally have not researched Culturelle's maltodextrin sourcing, but I think we should look into that before jumping to conclusions about the quality of their product! It sounds like you should reach out to their team for answers to your questions. There is a lot of science to these products that is very complex :)

Oh No that’s not where the thyroid gland is located. It’s down the middle of your neck towards the middle of where the collar bones meet.
