I am enjoying the event though it could be better which is why I made this video. Its not to dump on the event/CCP because I love this game, but I am hearing reoccurring complaints about these events and I wanted to give some constructive feedback to make them better in the future. Comment below what you think of the Crimson Harvest event so far for the Gila skin giveaway!

I agree with what you have in the video. On thing I would add is they way this is set up is really punishes group play. My corp and I set up a little 5-6 man fleet to try out a site when it first started because we heard it was really hard. We have a lot of new bros that cant solo it but after that first site we gave up because they would not get anything (they were logi) and the people that could solo it split off to get the better rewards. It didnt make sense for them to split the event progress for a 3-5 mill bounty we were getting in null.

yea, these events pretty much only encourage solo play at least with the points, which is sad. Seems like they tried it with the Expedition sites during the empire celebration days but I feel like those were held back due to the point system as well despite it encouraging groups of 3-7. Hopefully they can figure out group content for events soon

They need to hire fresh minds to come up with annual events. They should be super inclusive to low skill and casual folks. After clearing two rooms and getting the BS stolen every single time... I gave up with 0 in the points column for the whole event

I live in Low sec and have mostly been running the Data sites. I agree with what you had to say, splitting sites you get credit for really slows down the progression and can feel rather punishing when you don't get a good site spawn for a whole evening. I also have found the loot is very poor. When a Cold Iron skin drops its great, but otherwise the data site loot is pretty terrible.

I agree my biggest issue was not knowing what skins/rewards I would get for selecting each side. I created two alpha alrs for future events. I def wanted the bhaalgorn skin. Will settle for the Gila!!

Enjoying the event overall, main issue is simply finding sites in highsec is the main issue! GILA SKINNNN

I did this event last year and as an explorer I always do the data sites for these type of events. I like that I can do both sides but it kinda sucks I only get credit for one side not the other. otherwise great video as always. Thank you for taking the time to do them.

Funnily enough, my Gila was what I was trying to run these sites in. Of course, I say try because between the neuting and the super-aggro on drones, I was only ever able to finish one combat site, and I never found any of the data sites. I hope that next years event is better put together.

that is ship I used last year as well but it was a bit of slog with the super drone aggro as well.

Hey. Thanks for the previous hypernet vid. Encouraged me to make my own spreadsheet for hypernet analysis and get me back into hypernet trading instead of just margin trading. Currently making a few hundred mil a day :)

As a explorer i like it when there are events that include hacking sites. But its a big grind to get all the points for the event! Just bought my first gila not long ago so would love the skin!!

I feel like the sites are rewarding enough, im a complete eve noob and i normally try and do exploration for the events to unlock skins but its waaay waay too many points , the last event i got all the skins for i wanted was the Cynabal black skin event and yeah that was a while back. I think its reasonable to allow noobs to unlock the skins then let people keep doing the sites for the isk, I did a few got blown up a few times and the fact that there are 2 different sites and only one counts also makes it even more difficult to get the points you need. As far as the design of the event i think its fine and fun, im too poor to do battleship encounters and possibly loose ships and thats fine , the exploration ones were fun enough but i think id need to do like 60 of the correct site or some shit and it takes me a long time to scan down each site because im a noob

I played during work with a Rattlesnake and made 3.5 bil so far just in high sec (aiming for 06 05 systems) :) altho i have a bunch of clones so I either risk moving them to null or sell the cheap in Jita :). Cheers and keep up with the good work!!! IGN Cdr Sebastian

I also felt like the event is too big of a grind. You need 30 Combat Sites to complete it and go completly uncontested. Killing 10 ships for 10 points and the Overseer Battleship for 20 points. Getting the 10 points is easy enough, but the Battleship is another story. In some sites I completed every pocket, had the battleship spawn and a random marauder shows up to snipe the battleship infront of me. So no 20 points for me and I have to start another site to get the 20 points for killing the Overseer Battleship (while not getting the 10 points for killing 10 ships because I am stuck on the Battleship task). I like the idea of having events like crimson harvest, getting skins & free stuff in general is always awesome, it provides some decent income aswell. Especially nice because even new players can participate and earn their first millions for their first battleship. Nothing is perfect, I think the event could take some fine tuning, like the amount of sites present at any given time. This would make the event more accessible for casual players and less frustrating. Because I think I've spent more time looking for sites / empty sites than actual PvE. Other than that it's a pretty decent event imo. On another topic, I just found your YT Channel recently, even though I've been playing eve for quite a long time. Best part of the event has been the drop rate from pvp. I've made a few billion from that alone. And as a filthy lowsec pirate, I'm loving the slow moving ships in these event sites. Check your dscan, folks! Ign Erin Erroneous

It's definitely nicer in null sec as you have less competition for sites.

Its a good event overall, but yeap i had to use alpha accounts to see the skins before a pick side with my omegas. also these events should have like 2 types of combat sites, one for new players and alphas and another more advanced maybe even blocked by omega status, because right now many ppl are limitated to data sites only. i feel like the this event is more geared towards corp or small gangs. securing a region for the group isnt that hard. im able to secure 1 system all by myself in derelik....not multiboxing then u can sit there afk and hack the data sites as they spawn. Or if your with mates then they camp gates while u do sites. payout in the regions they mention are way bigger but come with extra danger. GL Guys

The option to have a 'key' to instantly skip to the final room is totally moronic ... almost every site I found and did on my own I ended up doing it for nothing because by the time I fought myself into the last room some basterd always already cleared it with the 'key'. a) there should never have been a key or b) the moment someone starts combat on a site, the priority gate should no longer accept the key and just stay locked The 90% loot on kills is just asking for cowards to come gank people during the event. The few times my final room didn't get stolen I got dogpiled on by gankers with ships that can't clear a single wave but are excellent at killing PvE battleships. I myself lost 2 battleships on the very same day to ganks! The amount of sites is way to low. I spend hours just going system to system and never found a site that didn't already have people doing them. To be honest everything about this event points you into the direction that the best way to enjoy this event is to simply go with a 'pvp high dps ship' and just kill all the pve players and take their loot. If I wanted to be a jerk I could easily have taken 80% of the sites already in use ... but ... that's not my playstyle. So in the end for the measly reward of about 26 mil at a single site I invested 2 Praxis that got ganked and destroyed ... for me this event was a big loss AND it is way more profitable to just buy the skins and spend the time of the event earning isk the regular way's. I for one am not inclined to participate in these kind of events again.

Also, just use a Proteus with a dual rep. Also drones needed to be nerfed. Many of us where tired of seeing drone boats eating up all the sites then leaving. Drones boat players = No skills in piloting. Go hard or go home.

haha right?! Drones are a legit playstyle and require some skill even if its much 'easier' to do. I think having some events that favor certain weapon systems are fine, but don't hard punish them either. Thanks for the comment! Whats your in-game name incase you win the skin giveaway.

Great Review. I was quarantined for 10 days and thought I would make my goal to finish the crimson harvest event. I stopped at around 500 of the 900 points. It was too much of a grind. I like the event but it was fairly difficult. Definitely not the same amount of fun as last years winter nexus event which I did complete on 2 characters. I thought the Data Sites were also too grindy. I agree on your suggestion to make the combat sites also help with some type of buff on the data sites. Great review. I enjoy your videos.

I enjoyed the lowsec exploration sites in Derelik. The money was good and the chance for 1 on 1 pvp was also great. The points were not worth the grind so I didnt even try. IGN Caesar Brogustus
