MY impressions on Mazda CX-8

The Mazda Skyactiv models are indeed very nice. The engine performance and fuel efficiency are very good for its class. It stil uses the traditional but improved version of automatic transmission unlike with other brands that comes with the CVT. The only main disadvantage of owning these Mazda Skyactiv cars is the iStop feature. It's a feature that many Pinoys won't really have any practical use. This feature requires a very expensive special battery (EFB) which cost around ₱15,000 if you go for the casa brand (Yuasa). Don't use the ordinary motolite or amaron battery otherwise you'll risk on damaging the eloop capacitor which will cost at least ₱100,000 for a replacement. Some Mazda 3 BM (2013-2016) owners have complained about this istop/capacitor issues in recent years.

Another thing to note with the Mazda Skyactiv models is the water-based thin car paint used. If you plan to buy one, don't let the casa amateur auto detailers touch your car's paint. Bring your newly bought car immediately to a professional auto detailer that knows how to properly protect Mazda's delicate car paint.

Thank you sir Levi for reviewing at last the Mazda CX-8 4x2 Signature model. I actually bought this model & color over the Fortuner LTD & Montero 4WD. Ramdam mo pa rin kasi ingay nang diesel. Other countries no longer use diesel engine na rin coz of emission concerns. Halos Asian countries na lng ata gumagamit. The CX-8 gasoline engine drives smoothly and quite inside esp during long drive. Yun lng medyo mahirap when you drive alone coz madali ka antukin coz tahimik and maganda Bose sounds niya including the seat comfort of Nappa leather inside. Stable din ang ride & handling niya during high speed. Hindi ka rin matatakot sa high speed kurbada. Bagay siya for Family use who wants a premium car and kakaiba dating niya. Sulit din for what you pay coz it comes with 5 years free PMS. Unfortunately, Mazda discontinued the diesel engine on CX-5 new models for 2022.

I think you forgot to mention the Free PMS for 5 years from Mazda. 5 year PMS from Honda/Toyota costs 150k-200k.

Yes that’s true, mahal yung battery. Ang ginagawa ng iba pinapatay yung istop. In my case, wala akong i-stop kasi base model yung mazda ko

Ive been watching your vlogs sir levi aside from simple and easy to understand , maganda pa boses!!! .....i really cant decide on a CX 8 AWD, and a CX9 AWD ( price difference is 500K!!!) i like almost all the features of CX 8 except that it dont have a ventilated seats!!! ....i like the CX 9 AWD because it is bigger, and has ventilated seats, and Turbo!!! but after watching a comparison of the CX9 exclusive and the Black edition , now the choice is between CX9 AWD, CX8 AWD and the CX 9 Black edition!!! i understand, that it is only the sunroof , napa leather, and other safety featurs, and of course the AWD that is absent in the Black edition ( i can live with that!) price of black edition is 300k more thatn the CX8 and 200k less than the CX 9 AWD....pls help me decide sir Levi!!! hehehehe

All of them are good , its really difficult to decide. If I were you would go for the new CX 60 or if you want bigger, get the CX 90

I own a 2021 Mazda CX-9, it looks exactly the same but I have a captain seat on the second row so it is a 6 seater not 7 as we want the passenger to be comfortably seated. What’s the difference with cx-9 and cx-8?

It depends on what you need. i would prefer tue CX 60 because its not too big. if you want big, go for CX9

The Mazda CX-8 just doesn’t look right. The bigger CX-9 and smaller CX-5 have beautiful lines, but while stretching the CX-5 to make the CX-8 something went wrong.
