Sometimes I regret not learning about cosplay when I was younger, but then stories like this shows up and I'm glad that I didn't discover it until I was in college. I still had cringy moments, but nothing that bad. lol

When I was a kid, 15 maybe?, I thought I was too good for wigs so my first cosplay was just with my regular hair and let me tell you- it was baaaaad lol Honestly. Kids have no clue what they’re doing and its all just a huge cringe fest. 😂

My first cosplay interview was at my very first convention. I was Light Yagami with a bob cut, with braces, in a suit about 2 sizes too big, and my friend was L. We were asked to do an interview and, not thinking because I was 13, I was like, "We're cosplaying as L and Light from Death Note!" while awkwardly stroking my apple. He then panned over to my friend and she was like, "I'm L.' And I just felt so awkward;; I had introduced both of us, thinking he was filming both of us at the same time, WHEN HE WAS FILMING US SEPARATELY!!

I renember my first tv interview (not in cosplay). I was just sitting outside with a friend eating ice cream and this lady came up with us with a camera man to ask some questions about the city. I was very excited because this area is haunted but not a lot of people know its ghost stories, so I really wanted to tell her that. (I was 14 hush, I still believe in all of the stories but I wouldnt talk about them with these kind of people.) So we agreed to do an interview and she started to ask questions when suddenly she got attack by a male duck. she was screaming and running around and we just kinda stood there. unfortanally they never broadcasted the video...

I loved CBC's the vinyl cafe and almost cried when I heard Stewart McLean died, but I also still listen to Raina Douris's show when I can. Edit: I was really thinking about it and realized how much CBC was apart of my childhood. Every time I go to my grandparents my grandmother would play the CBC classical music every Saturday morning since I can remember.

Ah, don't be so hard on yourself! You were a kid, and kids are dumb. Even smart kids are dumb. Everyone does/did stupid, cringey stuff as a kid. You're older and know better now! It's actually kinda adorable imagining the way you were following him around and popping up in these different places... trying to look cool, but clearly a star-struck over-excited kid...

Also, living in Michigan, the CBC is a standard station. Even when you could pick up broadcast TV on an antenna, it was one that we could get. I don't have much experience with CBC radio, but I've watched many shows on there! "Rick Mercer Report," in particular, is an absolute favorite.

CBC! Fond memories of watching Patty on Kids' CBC. :) It was cool to see TV cameras on the convention floor, though I doubted any of the footage was used early on (almost a decade ago) to showcase other events of higher profile. Also, the difference between anime conventions and ComicCon is worlds apart in terms of media involvement. For me, Top Personal Cringe Moment is running up to J. Michael Tatum and Monica Rial after their panel for a picture as they were rushing out to catch their flight (I met them for autographs out of cosplay the day before). Yikes. :/

YES YES YES CBC RULES! We would always try to have Vinyl Cafe playing on the radio during Sunday morning brunch, or listen to it on the way back from swim lessons or ski/snowboard lessons. DNTO is also great, along with Tapestries, the Next Chapter, This is That, and The Debaters. If I recall there's also Spark, which is the science and tech radio show, and I forget what it use to be called, but the new iteration of the show is called Age of Persuasion(?), where they talk about pop culture and what goes into brand and commercial designs. There's just so many good show on CBC, and that's just the radio shows! Did anyone ever watch Rick Mercer, This Hour Has 22 Minutes, or The Nature of Things?

I was interviewed by Ed the Sock once, though my story is a bit different. I was hanging around outside at Anime North in Toronto. I was basically melting, because my cosplay was made entirely from duct tape. Next thing I know, someone is pushing a microphone into my hands. I turn, and there's a short dude with a sock puppet. ...It was Ed the Sock. I stumbled awkwardly through that interview, as well, because I had no time to mentally prepare myself lol. I never did get to see it, because it only aired on some Toronto cable network (and I don't live in Toronto). I also was on InnerSpace for Syfy, though that was for my steampunk work. That one went much more smoothly, as I was allowed to act in character (as my drunken airship pirate OC haha)

Ooof that reminds me of at PCF the biggest con in my state I was Yurio from Yuri on ice but the welcome to the madness version so it's super ccsdvbnmn revealing and my chest was taped so nothing would flash anyone and a reporter can up to me to interview me and I'm to socially awkward to say no but I knew I looked terrible because I panicked at the last second and took off my eyeliner and did a really bad rendition of his makeup and I was also giddy af because I was waiting for my boyfriend and his parents to arrive

Anime Evolution isn't dead I'm afraid to say. It will be back this year (2019) I have many sources and some info to back this claim. Plus I know the cons chairman. It's had a lot of hiccups over the years especially in 2016 when I volunteered the first time as staff. It's sad really. I was going there from 2004 till then. I even stopped attending Anime Revolution due to the lack of panels, content and guests that interested me. Fan Expo Vancouver is still my favorite con but a lot of people will tell you it's no good otherwise. The simple truth is there's too many anime cons from Vancouver to Victoria to Seattle that take place every year.

I was actually on TV 3 times the first time I was itty bitty baby dancing at a concert and there was this line here come the rain and I looked up to find the rain even though there was no rain . But that was a news paper . Then I was on TV because I was singing OH CANADA for my city’s council . Last and least it was a group interview for this girls sports day where a bunch of girls from different schools did sports , and I wasn’t in the same group as my best friend and when they did get to interviewing they had us all in a group but never picked me to talk witch was really upsetting for me even though I was on TV after that . Oh and then there was CTV another Canada Tv station and I think the queen was there but I did get filmed I don’t know if it ever aired thought.
