You can go play Infinite Parkour's Alpha, RIGHT NOW, over at: www.planetminecraft.com/project/infinite-parkour-version-2-0-alpha/ Thanks for being interested in our project, this journey has been insane and none of it would've happened if you all didn't show up and watch, so I thank you all so much! Lots of future plans in the works for this project, we want to make as many of your ideas work as possible! Head to the discord if you find bugs, want to talk about features, or just chill with some cool people (Link in desc.)! Have a great weekend, I'll see ya shortly!

I remember watching the first infinite parkour vid and I just thought it was cool that a new person was documenting their learning the basics of commands. Like it seemed you barely even knew what a datapack was. Yet look now. Not six months later and you and a team have turned it into a full product. Great work!

Aww thank you so much! This is true, I really never touched data packs before starting this project. Finding the right people who have been kind enough to show me how to improve has also been a huge help, couldn't be anywhere without them. I'm happy to hear you've been enjoying the videos and even stuck around to watch! I appreciate it

(I make some of these suggestions assuming that multiple players could be in the infinite parkour dimension at the same time) A common feature among many server lobbies placed in the void that I've seen is that they hide the "horizon line" that is the edge of the island from the main pathways. When it's visible, it really tells you that the island is in the void and makes you feel exposed and vulnerable. Whether they do it with buildings, foliage, or just a wall (I wouldn't recommend a wall), the lobby space is enclosed and made more comfortable than it would be if it were just exposed to the void. Don't worry about building an entire world. It's the players' fault if they decide to stray off the path to the edge and then begin to feel "exposed". You can also incorporate the void, as viewed from above, into the build if you so wish. Treat it as you might a body of water. Don't let it connect with the sky as visible from the side or you get the "exposed" effect as mentioned above. The exception to this is if the connection is narrow and you have other features adjacent to the connection that draw your eye away. When customizability features and other settings get added in the future, perhaps make where you adjust them a distinctly separate facility, if not an entire separate island, away from the entrance to the infinite parkour run. If you decide that there will be multiple islands, obviously have solid bridges between them (you wouldn't want to keep falling into the void when you're just trying to see the leaderboard), but you could provide mini fixed parkour options players could practice and play on while another player is on the infinite run. While another player is on the run, have the game place a visible barrier such as a fence, and maybe even invisible barriers so players don't accidentally break the run. Some visible and/or audible indication system may notify players when the run becomes available to enter again. A station, perhaps appearing like those coin-operated binoculars at scenic locations, may allow players to automatically switch to spectator mode and watch the player currently using the run. You could include a scoreboard on the island that shows the highest scores of all the runs and the players who achieved them. The admin could potentially be able to change this to include the highest of all the scores ever obtained (examples A and B, better for one or few players) or just the highest score of each player (example C, better for multiplayer). At the top of the leaderboard could be a podium kind of thing, where the top three scores are placed in a triangle and colored in gold, silver, and bronze, just like a podium, and the lower scores are simply listed below the podium. Leaderboard Example A Steve: 315 Steve: 287 Steve: 268 Steve: 237 Steve: 197 Leaderboard Example B Steve: 495 Alex: 448 Alex: 432 Steve: 392 Alex: 357 Leaderboard Example C Efe: 392 Noor: 376 Steve: 358 Sunny: 327 Alex: 299

@@johnmillerpere_grin6371 Hey I really like the suggestions you're leaving! I will say that players will most likely be in separate lobbies (we have a lane system set up, but of course there might be a larger, main lobby that players can enter the game from in the future). Also, the leaderboard idea is also in the works and will for sure come into play eventually! Thanks for the detailed advice!

0:19 I am new to this channel and it already seems like a good idea to allow custom decoration and block patterns. Probably still very far to do right but don’t stress yourself out because of me. I am only looking into things that would be perfect for this. Most people on the internet aren’t really important enough to let them ruin your day. I know I am me and know I am important to my life but I am not gonna be important to yours unless you decide to let me reach you and if I decide I want to if you let me. 1:54 I was gonna guess it uses procedural generation but this is way easier to make an editor in. I assumed you did teach it parkour patterns. Might be cool for an endless mode but that’s ambitious and pretty distant from this. This can be better in some ways but it’s different and two different things are bound to be better and worse at different things.
@bigcongaming15 күн бұрын
Hey nice suggestions! So in the future we'll allow the player to choose what block generates under them while jumping, and there's going to be a different mode where jumps generate in different themed areas/zones! Those will also have themed decorations as a part of them! For the endless mode you suggest, I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Currently the jumps that generate in front of the player do go on forever. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding. Thanks for the suggestions!

Yeah we were talking about supporting multiplayer in the future, including cooperative and competitive modes! Should it be distance based or time based? Or both? Thanks for the idea!
@GameJam23019 күн бұрын
Btw, another fun possible idea for jump packs could be the ability to set sort of abstract properties for them, such as requirements for certain jumps to appear. This could be things like making it so harder jumps only appear after you’ve hit a certain amount of points and easier ones stop appearing after a while, or maybe some jumps globally applied attributes to the player when on them, like moon gravity, or changing their size and jump height for a mini parkour section. Having something that works similarly to jigsaw blocks could be nice too, where you can make the last jump be a green block, which makes it so it can only connect to other jumps that START with a green block, but not any that start with a red block. The result of this could also allow for jumps to have more than one ending point marked, allowing for multiple branching paths that lead to different pools of jumps. For example, a red block might be what a creator uses to indicate the “hard” jumps, but completing them might lead to a yellow block which indicates a “reward” jump, which could include powerups or bonus points, but a fork in the road may give a user the choice between going for a hard jump to get a prize, or an easy jump with no reward. So many possibilities with jump packs, I’m super excited.
@bigcongaming19 күн бұрын
Now THAT is really sick! I'll have to bring this over to the Discord, WOW I can see the possibilities with this could be massive. It would really turn jump packs into a more of a level system, which would be cool! Thanks for the suggestions!
@GameJam23019 күн бұрын
@ np! I might have to join over there too, I’ve been developing datapacks since they were still called “command block creations” and used a giant chain command to paste several thousand command blocks with falling sand entities in the spawn chunks, so there’s very little I don’t know how to do now XD

I'm a bit sad that I don't have any skills that you might need for this project, otherwise I'd really like to help. Maybe I can build some decorations out of blocks, because the parkour now is in a separate dimension it wouldn't have the possibility to destroy anything important if spawned far enough away from the path. And I could also maybe build a jump pack to maybe include as a default choice option?
@bigcongaming19 күн бұрын
Hey I bet you could do something! The decorations are currently made with display entities, but the conversion between blocks and displays isn't a difficult one! I'll ask Flaming, Ofek and others about it!

Hi, I appreciate the work you do. I suggest a few improvements: 1) every time you return from the Editor, the (decorations) settings are reset 2) the Editor does not have a warning when you exit without saving 3) the particles line disappears too soon (tested with a small FOV?) 4) the fead-in of jumps is too slow, it would be advisable to always have at least 3 jumps loaded in advance. 5) the spawn is unnecessarily far from the first jump. 6) the sound of the wings is played in random places, for example during a head jump 7) How is the creation of your own Pack using a chest supposed to work? It doesn't seem to work for me. 8) having the hotbar empty in the Editor is confusing 9) it doesn't have its own soundtrack. 10) it always says SCORE 0 on the main island, which is useless Is now the idea board aveable somewhere? I am not a native speaker.
@ofekn18 күн бұрын
Thanks for the suggestions! About 7: you just put the name of the new jumppack and then you can start placing jumps in About the idea board: we moved it all to discord.
@bigcongaming15 күн бұрын
1. Yeah I noticed that one recently actually, thanks for bringing it up! 2. That'll be a nice quality of life change we should for sure look into! 3. Yeah hmm not sure, does the particle life depend on FOV? Never knew about that. 4. Yeah that might be an option in the future to allow the player to choose how many jumps ahead are visible at once, but it also really depends on the jumps made inside the jump pack. 5. I think this is just a 3 block jump, unless it's also being randomized based on the pack, not really sure. 6. Yeah this is a known bug, for some reason the fall detection isn't doing so well but we're working on it! 7. I agree that this part is confusing, since the player could put text in the book or sign with a name. There's two input fields and it's not clear which one the player has to use. 8. Yeah maybe there should be a default layout for the hotbar on load, or at least let the player choose what's there by default as well! 9. In the works, definitely before the full release. 10. I agree, this should instead display the last run's score. As Ofek has mentioned, the idea board is now in the Discord! I'll move over some of the QOL changes you suggested over there right now, thanks for the suggestions!
