Imma rant here rq, I watched maybe 5 better than wolves videos, I got BTW in January 2024~. Then I watched 4h mud flaps video about BTW recently (at 2x speed bc English is a slow language, I am a native english speaker so I am naive as all hell) so now KZbin thinks Im super into minecraft mods, and then I watched videos about Nvidium, Sodium, Phosphor, Distant Horizons, I think I found the problem halfway through my rant. I genuinely like the mod tho and it seems like this could be a genuinely good development video series like the Slimekeep devlog. What if you shoot the Longbow upwards, how accurate is it coming down? I wanna see you and a playtester/friend doing PVP through walls with glowing and this bow. Oh yeah you should add splash glowing potions that are cheap or maybe not, wouldnt be used much. 25:17 I think it should home to projectiles that are fired by not the firing player and are not currently in air because then you could have homing arrows hitting eachother and exploding midair (with no sound or little sound and no damage to nearby entities) for some weird trench warfare. Can longbows use multishot like crossbows? Will the longbow home to end crystals? You could increase build height and bedrock level and make it be a choice during world creation or you can include an image to show the new ore levels, their biomes, and more.

Woah that's a lot of modded content, I haven't even heard of all of those! Thanks for watching and enjoying the mod development! I'm really excited for Slimekeep as well, hopefully he releases that soon! Potions / Splash potions of glowing could be pretty neat! I believe the homing currently only points towards living enemies. I should check end crystals some time! There's a lot of room for where this mod could go, I'm not sure exactly how much I can add before it becomes too non-vanilla-y, we'll find out eventually! I'll have to keep testing this as well, not so sure about the exact accuracy and such! Thanks for the suggestions!

@bigcongaming Honestly "vanilla" is really a question of what era of Minecraft you started playing in, trial chambers? Not vanilla. Ender dragon? Not vanilla for some. Vanilla bean should strive to improve the vanilla game beside of what it already is rather than overtaking it. I know the dev of Spyglass Astronomy and Signed Paintings, chill dude, but I was kinda not a really good person when I met them. Their mods are perfectly vanilla, completely client side, and are what I want in a mod. Vanilla bean is really a question of how vanilla you want it to be, and if you want a good community who likes it, ask the community. (Not me, I nearly cry when I see screenshots of my one modded world)
@bigcongaming
@bigcongaming 10 күн бұрын
@@zapx1239 You make a really great point actually, one that I haven't seen around that much. Minecraft is a very fluid game, it has more updates than soooo many other games and is constantly evolving. "Vanilla" as a definition can't be relied on because it's subjective, like you mentioned. I was worried for a while to do more of my more "abstract" ideas because I was afraid of messing with what made Minecraft "Minecraft," but in reality, Minecraft will be the only game that will be able to accomplish that, no addition from Vanilla bean will ever make that status. You are 100% correct, I need to focus on improving the game's experience without ruining the progression/balance, while also bringing something new to the table. I think I might be missing that third point with some of these additions, but I hope that soon I can turn that around with some of my larger ideas. Of course the community involvement is very important to me, and is the reason why this video really exists, so trust me that isn't going anywhere! You really helped me get some more perspective on this project, and a stronger direction with it, thank you so much!

celeste music jumpscare also love the longbow idea. I was about to make a bunch of suggestions but after watching a little bit you did exactly what I was hoping you would do with the power and charge time. Love the trade off of a higher charging time for a bow with a longer and more accurate shot. Seems perfect for a vanilla+ mod. Homing enchantment would also be cool if it made arrows could gravitate towards the nearest mob with force decreasing over distance (affected by enchant level)
@bigcongaming
@bigcongaming 10 күн бұрын
Happy to hear you enjoyed the video! So with the force over distance thing, do you mean making the homing less effective at distance? I mean normally it is easier to hit a target that is closer to you, so homing is mainly useful for distances. But I agree that some balancing change should be made here, thanks for the suggestion!
@tdubmorris5757
@tdubmorris5757 10 күн бұрын
@bigcongaming What I mean is the force directing the arrow towards the target decreases when its further away from the target. Using a force system like this could possibly could result in arrows orbiting the target which would be super cool

@tdubmorris5757 OHHHH gotcha, yeah I was wondering how I could get an effect like that, but that makes total sense. At 1:07 we see an example of spoonerism. The individual says 'sea shed' instead of 'she said'. This is a common speech phenomenon or error wherein the speaker transposes corresponding consonants or vowels between two words; typically the first group of consonants is the subject of this transposition. It is sometimes purposefully done humorously as word-play or as a method of euphemising a vulgar subject (often to avoid filters); e.g., 'pay gorn' (a spoonerism commonly used euphemistically on the social media app TikTok) and 'tig bitties' (humorous internet slang).

There’s tons of potential for jump packs, like for example making special triggers that you can apply to certain blocks. Imagine the following: There’s an item in the editor that allows you to apply potion effects to a block. Left clicking the item in the editor might cycle the potion effect, right clicking a block applies that effect, and then there might also be controls for increasing or decreasing the strength and duration of all stored effects. Then, when in gameplay, landing on the block grants that effect. This allows builders to make jumps that grant required effects like jump boost, speed, levitation, or slow fall, or jumps that are deliberately made harder by giving slowness, nausea, or blindness. I’ve also got ideas for different types of collectibles that could be more valuable than just score counters, such as perhaps a Totem of Undying as a rare reward, which grants the player an extra life by teleporting them to their previous safe position upon failing a jump instead of restarting. In addition, there could be power up potions like one that grants 30 seconds of slow falling, or even a skip jump button to teleport to the current goal and spawn the next jump. It could also be great to have more obstacle options, like a dispenser block that shoots an arrow every second or so in the facing direction, or a block that breaks away into falling sand if you stand on it too long like a Mario donut block. Of course, these are all optional features for jump pack makers, so even if you don’t think you’d use them for your own jumps, they open a lot of possibilities for cool packs.
@bigcongaming
@bigcongaming 12 күн бұрын
I 100% agree! There's been some ideas like these thrown around for moving platforms, potion effect blocks like you mention, buttons and switches, etc.! One new idea though is that arrow trap! That could be a really fun idea, thanks for the suggestions!
@GameJam230
@GameJam230 12 күн бұрын
Something you could do if you want users to be able to export and share jump packs online is to make it so they can be saved in structure files, then having a generator that takes a list of structure files and outputs a datapack containing them with an mcfunction that loads them all into the base pack when both loaded at once. You could include the script inside the datapack file so that people could run it outside the game
@bigcongaming
@bigcongaming 12 күн бұрын
That could work, although I think we might be leaning more towards compressing the data into some sharable string, since all of the data is already stored into NBT storage. Nothing certain just yet. But we'll look into it, we really want to allow others to share packs as it would be really fun! Thanks for the ideas!
@GameJam230
@GameJam230 12 күн бұрын
@bigcongaming A copy to clipboard link for sharing them could be good, yeah (at least I think those are possible with the json text commands), though there’s not very many places where pasting it would be feasible in-game, book and quill and chat box are both probably too small for that much data.
@bigcongaming
@bigcongaming 12 күн бұрын
@@GameJam230 Yeah there will probably have to be some level of compression done to make it feasible. At least for a version that is only on a client, now for a server that's a different (and easier) story...
@GameJam230
@GameJam230 12 күн бұрын
@ Yeah, servers are easy, but they all share one big storage for it anyway, that’s why I opted for structure blocks in the original suggestion for between-world sharing. It’s one of the few systems that can instantly take an entire chunk of arbitrarily large data and export it from the game world into the files of the world for player access. Since your data is stored as NBT in entities, you could always just take every single entity in the jump pack and store it in a single structure file that can be import all at once, rather than jump-by-jump like I mentioned, and only that single structure needs to be added to the main pack (with some system in-game to recognize the addition and load it in). Otherwise I think it would take WAY too much data to store in a string with how big the room for a single jump is, and how many different properties could be applied to jumps, and even if you could do it, the hardest part would be using Minecraft commands to iterate over the entire encrypted string and decompress it back into NBT. String manipulation and iteration is unfortunately one of the only major data-related things you still can’t do with datapacks.

I don’t know if anyone suggested any of these, but here is a wall of text with some of my ideas: 1. A jump pack that get harder the further in it you get. For example: Score 0-100 - all jumps are easy; Score 100-200 - easy jumps with a few medium ones; Score 200-400 - no more easy jumps, all medium jumps. This could be combined with a idea someone else had (@barry5), where when the difficulty increases, the level design changes. Maybe you could select what the design changes into? Or it would be random depending on what you have unlocked? 2. 2:21 Pickups could be how you get different blocks, blockers and decorations. During a run, you collect them, and after you lose you can spend them in a shop. All block could have different prices, for example: you can spend 5 points to unlock a dirt block and 25 points for yellow terracotta Also, you should probably add a limit on how many points you can put on a single jump in the editor. Technically, I could make a jump that has like 50 points, which I think would make the points a bit useless (Although that would only really be the case if you would be spending the points you collect, like in my idea). Maybe each jump pack could have a max limit that depends how many jumps are in it? 3. You could add multiple “main” jump packs. You start with the first one, and you reach a certain score (for example 500) on it to unlock the next jump pack. When you beat a jump pack, you could get a special block design/decoration that you can’t buy with points as a reward (maybe iron, diamond, emerald, etc). The jump packs would get more difficult with each one you beat. 3:30 another idea for this: you need to beat a theme pack to unlock it’s item in the editor. Example: beat a fence pack to unlock fences, beat slime pack to unlock slime blocks. I feel like this would be nice way for players to get better with these specific jumps before using them in the editor 4. Would it be possible to run multiple jump packs at once? Let’s say I make a normal pack, a fence only pack and a glass pane pack. I think it would be cool if I could get jumps from the three of them at the same time without needing to make a fourth jump pack I’m honestly really excited to play this, it looks really fun!
@bigcongaming
@bigcongaming 22 күн бұрын
Yeah so some of these ideas have been thrown around the Discord, but I'll try to respond to some of the different parts and clarify anything missing: The plan is to have different areas/zones in the future that the player could progress into every 100 or so blocks/jumps. These would have different decorations and blocks, and potentially different jump packs. There will be more than one game mode of course, including one where you're just freely playing with whatever jump packs you would want to enable, and with whatever block/decorations you choose. Pickups could work for a coin system like you mentioned, and purchasing jump packs are both ideas we're looking into! A limit on the pickups per jump pack or something similar is an idea we're looking into! We are also thinking about making the jumps more challenging. We plan on having a weight system where a jump pack creator can choose which jumps appear more frequently over others, but obviously, this isn't any guarantee that rarer jumps appear later. So, a separate system of capping certain jumps to certain scores is something we're thinking about also! Multiple jump packs at once are for sure on the way! For purchases, we were thinking about letting the player customize their trail and buy packs with the currency since we want the blocks to change with the area/zone. But you didn't know about that until after this comment! Jump packs giving rewards to beat them is something really interesting that you bring up! It gives a whole layer of progression that I don't think anyone's discussed, and it really intrigues me! Tying that directly to the editor is also genius, how did I not think of that before? Really gives jump packs a new value to the player. Thank you so much for the suggestions!

Make a settings button in the main spawn part, when you press it, it'll give you a GUI to mess with the settings of the parkour

Oh for sure, there will be a better settings menu as well as more settings in the future! The sign and button selector panel will be a thing of the past! Thanks for the idea!

I'm so happy to see that your passion project is picking up so much. I didn't know if the initial popularity would carry over but as the videos kept getting better, it's clear that it very much did. I have no doubt that this project will keep getting more popular as the idea is just so unique

Awww thank you so much! I'm really happy to hear that you've been enjoying the videos! I'm not sure if I'll hit the same high as before, but honestly I'm not even paying attention to it, as long as I find interest in the project, then I'll keep working on it! I've also got some other developers working on it so even if I were to fall out, they could continue to work as well! I'm really excited to see where this project goes, we have lots of ideas for the future!

How about green for a optional path and yellow for a main path on the jump sets?
@bigcongaming
@bigcongaming 23 күн бұрын
Ooooh yeah, optional/fake paths are for sure coming to the jump packs! Currently we are thinking of making the trail either darker or smaller for the other paths, since we plan on saving block changes for something else. Thanks for the idea!

It would be cool to see some moving platforms option in the editor or switches so you have to go somewhere first before the path forward opens up.

Yeah I was thinking about this, we could make the advanced/emerald pickups trigger certain block movements and such. It would complicate jumps a lot, but would also add a new puzzle element to them! Thanks for the suggestion!

It's crazy how much you can make in vanilla minecraft now using just functions. Also, the level editor is a really cool idea. I can't wait to play it when it's finished

Aww thank you so much! Data packs have become really powerful, especially recently. Also big thanks to Ofek for the work on the editor, he did a really great job! Hopefully we can get this project to you soon!

It might be cool to have the block you jump on be configurable in the jump packs. What I mean is that some jump packs have diamond blocks to jump on instead of gold blocks for example.

Yeah so there’s a plan in the future for different themed areas/zones that will involve changing the blocks and decorations of the jumps! Thanks for the ideas!

Suggestion: All these new features are very cool, especially the level editor. But some ppl might like the simple and calm of the old versions, So I think there should be an option to dissable all the new and interesting jumps. -# side note, I personally think the new jumps and the level editor and really cool though. Good job bcc and ofek with doing all that hard work!

Ayyy thank you! I’ll for sure keep that in mind when working with the base jump pack that will be enabled by default. That’ll involve the simple jumps that you saw with the old version!

The jump editor is crazy! do you loop the whole area and save to data if its not air or do you update it real time whenever you make a change? also for the 3d thing, how did you do that? did you summon block displays depending on whats saved? and if so then it means you also had to consider bigger jumps as the small jump you have saved and the big one before it were about the same size. anyways what I meant to say is that the editor is amazing from a technical perspective! You made this project a lot more then I thought it would be. Props to you and Ofek!
@bigcongaming
@bigcongaming 24 күн бұрын
Aww thanks, to be honest if you would like to know more of the technical workings with the project I encourage you to join the Discord and ask Ofek there, he knows a lot more about the editor than me! From my understanding, each of those blocks are actually block displays over barriers, and whenever I right click on a display it runs through, copies all the entities positions and tags into a storage container, and then the display references those, places all the block displays as riding the first one, so that when the bottom one rotates they all rotate in sync! At least that’s my best understanding of it, thanks for your interest in the project!

Try using yellow glazed terracotta for blockers
@bigcongaming
@bigcongaming 24 күн бұрын
Yeah that could be a good option as well for the gold block jumps! I plan on having different themed areas/zones with their own blocks and decorations as well later on! The main reason I wanted to use glass right now is because it’s translucent, so it’s easier to find what jumps to go to, but I can also see the value of making that a solid block so that people can make secrets in their jumps! Thanks for the suggestion!
