I really like the deeper looks into films, especially the ones where you go over thematic implications/philosophical takeaways. I kind of wanted to make content like this at some point but got a little intimidated, but this gives me motivation to look into it. Great vids man

My son’s theory is that Miles (Spider-Man) and Miles (The Prowler) will be the “2 cakes” in your theory and go back and forth between worlds to spend time with their father and uncle and Miles (The Prowler) will get bitten or whatever and become that other worlds Spider-Man. I wonder though how they are going to explain away the portals that destroy the civilization when you break cannon. Any thoughts on that’s @SVB?

Maybe the way Prowler Miles becomees SPpider-man is by using Miguel's inection thing.

Hi, SVB! I really love your Overwatch content and I was super excited to find out about this channel from the Group Up Podcast! I binged all the videos on this channel today and I just wanted to say that are all extremely inspiring and thought-provoking. I’ll gladly watch whatever video you make next but here are a few ideas for some movies and tv shows that I would love to see you break down: Puss in Boots: The Last Wish Star Wars: Rebels Hunter x Hunter The Flash

Miles can have his cake and eat it too because he's the best Spider Man, come at me Parker fans. Also I've legit broken off friendships because someone called it Naan bread.

I love the way you handled this video. At first, I thought you went over too simple of ideas with the have your cake/eat it too analysis, but the way you built into the theory with Miles being the only one willing to put in the work to kinda break a cycle of self imposed abuse is really nice, and that's something I think you missed. Spiderman is stuck in an ever-present cycle of abuse, not from an outside individual, but by himself and his world.

I really hope you're not saying that anyone who dislikes the Spider-Verse movies or Miles Morales is bigoted. There are a lot of people out there who are just used to the Toby Maguire Spider-Man films, and have grown up with the classic story of Spider-Man. I know that a lot of people didn't like the Tom Holland Spider-Man films because they didn't stick as closely as possible with the classic Spider-Man story. And calling people names won't solve anything, it'll just make them more mad. And what makes Miles in particular such an anomaly in meta terms again? You said at 1:33 to 1:44 that it was because he's black and not Peter Parker. If I recall correctly, Jessica Drew is also black and is not Peter Parker. Miguel O'Hara isn't Peter Parker and isn't white. Pavitr Prabhakar isn't called Peter Parker, his name doesn't translate to "Peter Parker", and he isn't white. Peter Porker isn't a human and was bitten by a radioactive pig. Miles isn't unique because he's black, and he's not unique because he's not Peter Parker. There are an infinite number of Spider-Individuals in the Spider-Verse that aren't Peter Parker or white. We've seen a couple dozen of them already. The reason that Miles is an anomaly is that he was bitten by a radioactive spider from another dimension. Also, if we were going to try and bring real-world politics into this, Miles wouldn't win the ethnic diversity medal. That would go to Nicholas Cage's Spider-Man Noir, as he is black AND white.
@hooodedhawk7 ай бұрын
he didn't say that. When Miles first came to exist, its mere idea before it actually became mainstream in the ultimate spiderman show sprouted from fans suggesting Donald Glover be spiderman, and he himself says that he was faced by backlash - for the fact that he is black. This is a bigoted view. It is not bigoted to think Miles is the anomaly, its bigoted to have a bigoted view. This was also from a time where spiderverse was less than mainstream, and as we both know our mainstream has become a lot more diverse and open in recent
@Dr.Pelican-bw2zs2 ай бұрын
I think that was on him to clarify then, none of that very useful meta information was mentioned in the video. If he wanted to make a connection to the meta of having a black Spider-Man, he should have referenced what you referred to, or similar facts and content. But he didn't, he just said "He's black, and not Peter Parker" - something that can be said for many other Spider-people in this movie and the one before. It was an inaccurate statement; that's not the reason that Miles IS (present-tense) an anomaly in this film, nor in this time in history. The other criticism of the video I made was about the use of the word "bigotry" in the video, seemingly to refer to everyone who didn't like Miles as Spider-Man because "he's black, and not Peter Parker". I know plenty of people disliked Tom Holland's Spider-Man, and never really thought of him as the hero they grew up watching in the older movies. Does that make them bigoted too? No. There isn't just one camp that likes Miles and has a progressive mindset and the others who are all racists and bigots. Some people just like one adaptation of the hero with a certain actor and will always have biases against anything new and different (like Miles OR Tom Holland Spidy) due to nostalgia which is perfectly fine! They'll just miss out on all the new stories and interesting new directions they could take this hero, as was proven in the Home trilogy (or they just have a preference for older Spider-Men because of the way the character was done differently - no one Spider Man in the history of Spider Man movies has been the same). There's no need to throw insults and label them unfairly. But I understand it's easier to cling on to prejudices and paint everyone with a broad brush, so if that's what works for you and SVB, great! TLDR: Video made some inaccurate statements, and unfairly called people bigots based on it's preconceived notion of why people don't like Miles as Spider-Man ("He is black and is not Peter Parker").
