I am also in my Masters and my project is an installation that you can interact with the object and play the sounds of the city of Belo Horizonte, im using pure data, raspberry pi and trash

That sounds really interesting as well! What kind of tools do you use?

I love the idea and it seems like a really cool installation! You seem very talented and I don't want to duscount the incredible qmount of work you did on this project. I do want to ask though, are you okay with geberating illustrations and video created using artists' work rather than creating it yourself or having it created by an artist? That sounds more aggressive than it is. I promise im just interested in seeing what you think.

It's a very interesting topic and good question. Because on the one hand artists use other artists works as inspiration all the time, but on the other hand it was used for something without consent. I am really happy that it sparked the conversation between the artists and the technological developments, and that there are now many initiatives for ethically sourced datasets and rewarding systems for the artists being part of it, and that there are options for artists to opt-out. But yea, these days tech goes too fast for its own good, laws etc. not being able to keep up. But luckily its now highlighted as a problem and priority that's being solved, but it shouldn't stop from progressing and experimenting imo.

@scyheidekamp If artists can opt in under their own terms I am all for it. I do not believe it should be legal to use the art without permission because it is not an artist being inspired, it is data ripped and transformed with no artistic thought on the side of the machine. I don't want to get in the way of the good things that can come from AI, but as it stands right now, from what I have experienced and seen in the lives of those around me, it has caused FAR more harm than good and will continue to unless stopped until regulation can catch up. It really is hurting the people around me and it makes me sad and scared. Anyway, I really do love this installation and this video. I'm not trying to make you feel bad for anything you did or anything. This project you undertook is incredible. Thank you for your answer. It helps to understand what other people think and experience. Sorry if I got in the way of feeling proud of your very real accomplishment in any way.
