I’m a beginner currently working at an NGO organization, and I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to work and learn so much from a talented photographer from the Netherlands (I’m from a small town in Kenya). Your videos are incredibly inspiring and encouraging-thank you so much! It's always good to learn how to stand on your own feet.

Hello Laura! Thanks as always for your wonderfully practical and down to earth content. As a creative portrait photographer based in Toronto, you were a huge influence in my virtual education when I started my journey a little over a year ago. Over that time, I've built a solid portfolio and website, developed a recognized style, attracted some devoted followers, BUT, I'm having trouble getting consistent paid clients. I've followed all established marketing protocols - started to blog, leveraged social media (Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads, local Facebook business groups), cold emails, consulted with a well-established portrait photographer (based in London) and followed his advice, but I just can't seem to secure steady bookings. People keep saying that it's a long game to get noticed, but it's very frustrating when you know you produce good work but still can't seem to crack the market. I would love to see more videos on this sort of advice. Keep up the great work and keep on soaking up all life has to give! As you always say, big love!

Because all that things you did were the things promoted by youtubers and coaches to have content to sell their “programs/memberships/presets/etc”. Photography as we know it, is dying with all the AI improvements in generating images and videos. Good luck!

@@estwern Thanks for the good wishes. While I do see that photography is changing, I don’t think it’s dying (or at least I have to believe it isn’t). We just have to teach ourselves how to adapt or we’ll be left behind. As for photographers profiting from their knowledge, you can’t blame them for leveraging their hard-earned talent. I am completely self-taught, mostly from KZbin. (Having said that, I can’t afford mentorships and I prefer to develop my own editing styles rather than buy presets.) Let’s hope we all find our way in this ever changing creative world. All the best to you!

@@warrenshepherdphotography That's good to know! Unfortunately, a lot of people spend the dollars (and sometimes there are not just a few) for some magic presets. Instead starting from those which are provided by lightroom/other programs.

Hello Laura…. Love how you broke down practical ways to create stability while staying creative. Your point about recurring revenue through social media packages is brilliant - definitely implementing this strategy. Thanks for sharing your real experience and actionable tips! 🎯📸 #photographybusiness #creativeincome

Hey Laura- I would love to get into stock photography but I never seem to get my images accepted. Can you do a step by step tutorial on this? (Maybe you have.) Your stock photos are beautiful 😍

Take any video from 5 years ago and you’ll see that there are the same “advices”. Everyone is rolling the same things just to get you click that link with the presets or other link with the discount code. 2025 and we are still taking about “stock photography “ as a stream, when there are dozens of AI image (and video) generators that are becoming better and better with every release…..But hey…did you click the link?
