Nintendo does have a game on switch which features poker and other casino games: clubhouse games. It even has a Mario themed deck you can use.

I remember when I got Covid back in 2020 I had my little brother bring me his DS so I could play these mini games and also Mario party! (Another “car ride” classic!!) because they didn’t make you think but it gave you something to do and they made it easy to jump back and forth between the mini games!

I have lots of memories with SM64DS (honorable mention to my brother making me think Waluigi was in the game so I’d let him give me my DS, to which he deleted my file), and a good half of these are from the mini games too. I remember playing a bunch of these games, and I especially loved the bob-omb sorting one, but I could never figure out what that Yoshi game was with the tiles. I just pressed random stuff and lost all the time. Probably because I was 7 but oh well. I do remember playing Luigi’s memory game, I spent so much time in that one.

I'm actually really glad for the gambling minigames both here and also in Harvest Moon DS cuz after losing a lot of my in-game money, I learned how dangerous gambling is and know to avoid it with my real money lmao thank you for the life lessons video games

I had so much fun with the minigames here growing up! The addition of multiplayer in NSMB made a huge difference; my sisters and I would play all the time!

I still remember that day we got our DS’s and my DS was black and my pick for my game was The Force Unleashed. Those Mario mini games were a blast and definitely made the car trips way more fun!
