Ugh. Concrete chunks and shredded plastic 😣 the bane of gardeners everywhere! I live in a windy suburb, and my garden seems to be a catch-all for people's rubbish that blows in. I'm constantly having to tread into my garden beds to pull rubbish out. Very frustrating, especially if the plastic disintegrates! When it gets to that point, I usually shovel it into a garbage bag, because I don't want it hanging around in my garden soil. Your allotment is looking amazing! Same with your Tiny Garden. I'm so envious! Everything is full of vibrant green and bright colours 💚 Here on the other side of the world, it's still overcast, grey, and looking mostly bare. I think only my daphne is flowering, but it smells divine, so that's nice!
@thetinygarden_5 ай бұрын
You said how I felt in own word ugh! 😩 I am trying the same tactic, shoveling it up but there is a lot of it 🫣 The plot is starting to feel like a real grow space nice, keeping on top of the grass and weeds is a little challenge but I hope to buy an electric battery operated mower and strimmer..maybe the same brand and my drill because all the batteries will be interchangeable! Has your winter finished yet? 🤔Xx
@ErraticPerfectionist5 ай бұрын
@@thetinygarden_ we have winter until end of August. 1 September is the official start of spring here, so only just over halfway through our miserable winter 😅 August is usually the coldest month, but usually by then there's daffodils popping up optimistically. Although that said, a lot of bulbs are up earlier than expected. I think they might be confused about where we are in the season! We had several nights that dipped into the minuses, so it's possible that they think we're past the worst of the cold 😂

The teepees really make it feel like a real allotment 😍 so overwhelming! It's like how do I cook this or how can I squeeze this into the weekly meal plan 😅🤣 I am in a coat yes 🤭 sadly only highs of 15 (59f) today, the season has been very cold, night time temps rarely get over 9 degrees (48.2f) I like to roast them, but I heard the white ones can be thinly sliced and added to a salad. I also saw a gorgeous recipe for turnip gratin, I am going to give it a go! I plan to sow a few more this week to have over autumn for stews! Given the weather I could probably have the crock pot on the go right now 🤣🤭 Thank you Robin I took a short break life got so busy but glad to be back filming and chatting to everyone ♥️

If you have a bunch, they make a great pickle or ferment. I make gallons of half sour fermented pickles (mainly cucumbers, Im in South Texas) and I add my radish pods and garlic scapes to the brine. Also, I started making "radish chips" from the leaves, in a low slow oven, barely rubbed with s&p&chili and they're shockingly good with an ice cold beer or crisp white wine.

Hey Lorna ♥️ I am sorry for the lack up updates!! Life has taken over!! I had family fly over and visit that I haven't seen in so long, I became an aunty for the second time and of course I am still making my way through my university dissertation! But I'll be back to more regular updates very soon ♥️

Congratulations on the extended family!!❤ And no need to apologise, I'm just on worry mode ATM as pots and petals has dropped off the face of the earth after a health conversation via email and I'm worried about him and it's making me nervous when others disappear @@thetinygarden_ 🙈.I'm very, very relieved you're still around 🤗

What a lovely update. Sorry I’m so delayed, but with two weekends away I’ve struggled to keep up. The plot is looking productive. Loving the new tap set up. Looks fab! That looks hard work with the broken concrete and plastic. Really is a gift that keeps on giving isn’t it?! 😫 Potatoes looked good that you pulled. Impressive and the cucumber is massive!! 😱❤️
