Welcome back to my channel. I tried to switch up the format of my video to see if it is easier to follow. I want to provide the best content to you guys and would love any feedback.

I'm an EPIC Senior Analyst. I have a Bachelor's in Computer Science, it helps to give you basic knowledge of computers and analysis. I started as on floor support for EPIC Go-Lives all phases, we got formally trained from EPIC team from Wisconsin prior to go-lives and what to expect. Did that for about 3 years and travel within US, Applied for EHR Jobs and landed one using something other than EPIC, I got certified using that software. I built with other software's like Cerner for another 3 years, and got certified. Best chances is apply to facilities/organizations that are going live with EPIC or in the very early releases. They hire analyst and send them to get training at EPIC, but they pick and choose. Most of the people they'll hire already certified and then send those individuals to get other certifications to put those Analyst on focus why they're hired. Its a tough business to get a chance and opportunity, but hope you get that chance! Once you're certified you'll be open book and everyone will want you! Good Luck!

Hi @rjayorion, Thank you for sharing your story of becoming an Epic analyst. I also started as an Epic Credentialed trainer, although didn’t get chance to travel. I got certified soon after as an analyst for another organization. I just wanted to share my failures since, this side of becoming an Epic analyst is not talked about much. I'm a PACS pm. How can I get certified? Also, do you have insight on the interfaces and requirements that Cupid requires from PACS?

Hi Donald, There are some entry-level openings that are willing to certify new analysts but you will need to get hired first. Try searching for Epic analyst job posts that mention that they are certifying individuals within a specific amount of time. If you currently work at a Healthcare organization that uses Epic then you can ask your manager for permission to get a Self-Study Proficiency. Although it’s not a certification, it can help you with landing your first Epic analyst position which would then certify you. I’m still learning the interfaces part of my role as a Cupid analyst but we do send out some HL7 messages that are linked to our Order IDs and also receive messages from CVIS with the resulting information.

Hi-I am starting a new role in epic Cupid structure reporting. Can you share what google data analytics course you took? I am an Xray tech with experience as an end user in epic but do not have IT background or data analysis background. Also, this video was very informative. We share a similar story. However, it was a struggle to stay tuned as you seemed to get off topic and lose focus. Otherwise, very insightful and look forward to more.

Hey Tashiera, I’m not sure how much weight it held for their decision but it definitely helped me ramp up much faster than a coworker that was also hired around the same time as me. Epic is pretty much a big database so it honestly helps a lot if you don’t have much experience in that realm.

Ive worked for Baptist Medical Group for 16 years and we have used Epic for 11 years. Ive worked with registration and billing and have now applied for an analyst. Baptist does pay for certification. Is certification easier if you have used the Epic system for years? We will have 90 days to do the project and can take the test up to 3 times.

Hello, I currently have 8 years working in the health care industry. From front desk, medical records HEDIS retrieval representative, and now an MA at a private practice who uses EPIC. I’m looking into becoming an EMR/ EHR anyalst. I’ve also considered going back to school and obtaining an Associates Degree in Computer Science. Any recommendations on how I can land a postion in this field?

Hi Yoselin, I would recommend for you to continue with your education, it will give you a great foundation and will look great on your resume. I will touch this topic in my new video. I also recommend for you to get involved in projects that Epic analysts usually conduct and ask a lot of questions, this makes you seem like you are very interested in our field.

Have you had any issues with intermittent failure to login to Cupid remotely? Ex. can log in at hospital but can't get on EPIC Cupid via VPN?

Hi there! No, I have not had the issue before. Usually when logging in outside of the hospital using the VPN does the job.

You were able to become a Epic Trainer before you had any Epic experience?

Hi @Khameleon1911, It is possible to become a trainer if you had some classroom teaching experience. You should look up John Faulker on YT or LinkedIn, he transition to being a trainer without any Epic experience. Hopefully this answers your question.

Hello, I have masters degree in business administration with concentration in health informatics. I have no experience in epic. I really want to get into epic as an analyst. How can I get in. How can I get a job as entry level?

Hi Taiwosokan1018, It will be almost impossible for you to find an epic analyst role without any experience using the EHR. If I were you, I would actively look for roles within a healthcare organization that uses Epic and get at least a year of experience in that role. Some administrative roles are starting to use Epic more and more which the company that you work for could sponsor you to become epic certified. What is your current role?

Hey there! I haven’t taken the Epic Cadence Analyst certification. I was only certified in Cupid and Radiant. You should do well as long as you understand the practice project that Epic has you take with their certification tracks. Good luck!

Epic Cupid sucks and it’s removing quality clinical admins and inserting IT analysts. Plus the product has the lowest customer satisfaction rates for any of the Epic products. Many hospitals are making huge financial mistakes implementing Cupid.

Hey there! Thank you for the insight. I must agree with you regarding the Cupid application needing some work. To me, it seems like they wanted to copy Optime and Radiant and failed to create a polished product. Looking forward to upgrades to make it better.
