What a honest and powerful testimony! I'm so touched. I am a Kimono wearing Japanese Christian who is practicing full time head covering. 😊 May God use your head covering testimony for encouraging countless sisters who are striving to obey His word. Amen.

I recently tried to wear head coverings this year and my goal is to get over my fears of people looking at me funny and wear it full time! I am Christian woman and I have done a lot of research on head coverings and how it really used to be such a common thing up until feminism unfortunately. I think it’s more about modesty, showing your approval of gender roles, being submissive to your husband and doing what most women did for thousands of years until feminism destroyed everything. Thank you so much for sharing your story. They are not many Christians out there that cover their head anymore. I really appreciate you speaking about this. God bless.

You’re welcome! I believe God will give you the strength as you submit to Him! And yes, it is pretty wild when you look into the past and realize not wearing a head covering has only been a recent practice…. I’m glad God is convicting us to go back to it❤ It is a true display of His power and existence I believe, since this is not something we are inclined to do in our flesh. God bless you as well ❤

So is just a feeling or was there more to your belief that you feel you need to cover your head?

Headcovering is a crown for a daughter of the king of the universe, a physical symbol of spiritual protection. It is a symbol the desire to live in covenant like a lady betrothed to Yeshua Messiah. You are proclaiming Yeshua as your protection.
@JohnYoder-vi1gj
@JohnYoder-vi1gj 3 ай бұрын
With all due respect a head covering is in no way described as a crown. I hope the person who mentioned this was just being overly emotional. But as a stickler to scripture, which we all should be (2nd Tim 3:16-17) we should not try to romanticize and add ideas that are not scripturally sound like making it appear that putting a hat on a woman's head is in some way a symbol of spiritual protection. Jesus is our protection whether one wears a veil or not.
@messianichebrewshawnkawcak1550
@messianichebrewshawnkawcak1550 3 ай бұрын
@@JohnYoder-vi1gj you are welcome to your opinion/interpretation. For whatever reason you seem to feel threatened by the interpretation, and no I don’t see a hat as a covering in this context because it is not specifically a spiritual symbol like a cloth headcovering is. I have read accounts of women talking about how some women are treated better or ignored by certain men. Women/wivesrepresent the bride of Christ, men represent Christ in a marriage context. Christ is king, Israel is his bride/queen. I realize it requires a little bit of an open mind and Hebraic mindset to understand my claim. I see the exodus as a pattern of salvation, and represented in the tabernacle furnishings (outer court is Egypt/justification/judgment, inner court is wilderness/sanctification, holy of hollies-promised land)altar of burnt sacrifice represents Christ, laver-baptism, showbread -word of Yahweh, altar of incense-pray, menorah-obedience/Holy Spirit in us, holy of hollies-throne room/promised land), but people would argue against that too. Psalm 140:7, Isaiah 47:2, and Numbers 5:18 hint at headcovering as a protection, generally married women, however believers are betrothed to Christ.
@JohnYoder-vi1gj
@JohnYoder-vi1gj 3 ай бұрын
@@messianichebrewshawnkawcak1550 Nice play at words by trying to make it appear that I am “threatened” by the interpretation so as to paint me as a fearful person. Nice tactic. Though this is not the case but rather that one should state the claim that such an idea is false and then follow through with evidence, which should be the manner for any false doctrine. Ok so even though you don’t see a hat as a covering, you admit to believing that a cloth head covering is, which doesn’t help prove your claim by the way. You don’t even try to offer any evidence from the main source of this topic, which is 1st Corinthians 11. Instead, we get alleged witness “accounts” of how wearing a veil supposedly helped in certain moments. Just so you know Christians are supposed to get our source of doctrine from the Bible not from people outside of the Bible. If this is how you think something is “justified” because it helped in some way, then who is to stop someone from saying that wearing a crucifix or scapula helped them as well? And there are tons of RC’s who will swear by that. So, this line of thinking is not logical at all. You even admit that your belief “requires a little bit of an open mind and Hebraic mindset to understand my claim.” Of course, it would take an open mind because you would need the hearer to accept your stance with little to no biblical proof. Then when you finally refer to something biblical you cite 3 verses in the Bible which were hardly proofs that women ought to wear a veil. It seemed more like you did a word search and randomly chose them. Psalm 140:7 O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle. I think it is safe to say that we are including men here as they tend to go into battles, right? So this doesn’t help with the idea that only women are to wear some kind of covering. Isaiah 47:2 Take the millstones, and grind meal: uncover thy locks, make bare the leg, uncover the thigh, pass over the rivers. Uncovering the locks which I assume you are referring to does not support the idea that full on doctrine on head covering existed. Both men and women wore things on their heads for many reasons. So how can one take this very short phrase and imply a doctrine existed? Numbers 5:18 And the priest shall set the woman before the LORD, and uncover the woman's head, and put the offering of memorial in her hands, which is the jealousy offering: and the priest shall have in his hand the bitter water that causeth the curse: This verse also does not prove that a head covering doctrine existed. One can argue that since the woman went before the priest that she could have easily dressed up to see him. Like when Rebecca put on a veil when she was next to Jacob’s house, BEFORE they were married. Had it really been a doctrine she should have worn it throughout the trip. According to the Bible putting on a head covering is classified as a finery (aka bravery) that supposedly enhances one’s look, if you wish to believe Isaiah 3:18-23. The Bible here lists many accessories that prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that putting on bonnets, veils, headbands, fine linen and hoods were accessories to make someone look more attractive. Based on biblical facts head covering was not a protection and were not necessarily for married women. Though it may seem very romantic to say it shows believers are betrothed to Christ but such a concept is not biblical.

Dear sister. Thank you for taking the time to put your video together to share your testimony to strangers. I am a 27 year old Australian woman who’s grown up as stereotypically Australian/western as it gets. I have left so much of my old life behind and I am now at the challenge of headcovering fulltime. So I want to thank you for so explicitly detailing the journey you have been on and how God has opened your eyes to beauty before the Lord and not beauty by a worldly superficial standard. It has given me a taste of the heavenly mind on this issue. Thank you for sharing your revelation because it convicts me of my need for God to help me through His strength in doing this next step, not solely my own strength to just suck it up and “do it”. Your testimony has encouraged me to not shrink back, but seek the Lord more than ever to help me in this.

As a Christian man, I think it's a wonderful testimony, and one that calls for courage in our mundane, fashion-conscious times. I hope it will inspire others. A few comments. Just look at the traditions of Christian countries (I live in France). Until not so long ago, our grandmothers or great-grandmothers used to cover their heads. Depending on the culture, it's not necessarily a veil, but a head covering, a kind of hat, a kerchief, etc. It's not as extreme as some Muslims, it's all a question of modesty without excess, and it was natural common sense, not even necessarily religious. Also, I think women in traditional clothes are so much more beautiful, it shows the beauty of cultures (transcending and complementing the beauty of individual), unlike this ugly standardization (jeans are a no-go, loose-fitting dresses are so much better!). In short, if there were any doubt... Ask yourself this simple question: what is the role model for the Christian woman? The Virgin Mary, mother of our sweet Savior, of course! Mary was veiled, like Jewish women of the time, except that as the mother of the Eternal, she is a timeless example.

@@MadddyKayy True. It's a beautiful message too and admirable to wear a head covering as a Christian. But most of all is to not have a Jezebel spirit whether a person chooses to wear a veil or not. Conservative clothing is a must also and not showing cleavage or wearing tight pants or dresses. If you wear a head covering and have all that revealing clothing and are a mean person a woman might as well not wear a veil.

Thank you my beautiful sister. As I am listening to your testimony I am laughing and crying. This is exactly what happened to me. I heard God suggest a head covering. I like you laughed thinking this can’t be from God. This has to be the enemy putting thoughts in my head. But no. It is Him. I’ve been obedient now for a week. I have been in break from going to the office and working remotely from home due to the holidays. I’m so nervous to go in on Monday with a head covering. But I will be obedient. I find it very interesting this is spontaneously happening to some of us. What does He have prepared for us? Blessings be with you my sister! Also, side note. Christian tradition in history shows that it's recommended for women to wear head coverings, especially in the church during the liturgy. That's why Eastern Orthodox Christian is still wearing it, at least during the liturgy. However, there's no shaming or pressure when women choose to not wear coverings.

If we follow those who subscribe to the doctrine of women wearing veils, then it can be argued that the most often cited verse is 1st Corinth. 11:5, which states: “But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.” According to many of those who believe women ought to wear veils this verse supposedly implies that a woman’s uncovered head is a woman who does not wear a veil. Such a woman is either dishonoring God, their own physical head or her husband for failing to wear it which implies that they are in disobedience. Some have gone so far as to say it is a sin. Another assumption is that the woman being referred to already has long hair and since they conclude that the covering is a veil then it must be referring to an “additional” covering otherwise it would clash with verse 15 stating that God gave women long hair for a covering. Another conclusion is that women ought to be covered ONLY when praying and prophesying which would make it seem as though it were something that can be placed on or taken off like a veil. You’ve probably noticed by now it takes several assumptions to reach the conclusion that women ought to wear a foreign object on their heads, despite the lack of evidence. * Does the Bible really give a clear command that women should wear a veil? The first thing that everyone must understand when talking about this topic is that it DOES NOT say the word “veil “or any other physical headwear, as far as the KJV is concerned. It surely mentions that the woman’s head should be covered, and no one disputes this, but it does not say that it should be covered with a veil, a shawl, a bonnet, a cap, or any other specific headwear. The verses in question within 1st Corinthians 11 mention the words, cover, covered, uncovered, and covering, but that does not mean we can translate this to mean specifically a veil, a shawl, a bonnet, a cap, or anything else similar. In fact, it would seem more like an adverb rather than a noun. Nevertheless, the word “cover” is often unfortunately interpreted by head covering promoters to mean a veil above all other types of headwear, even if there is no evidence to prove that beyond a shadow of a doubt. To do so would mean that one is trying to read more into the verse than what is actually stated and is not truly seeking an exegesis of the Scriptures. Some have claimed that they are referring to a physical synthetic head covering because the Scriptures seem to indicate that there are two exclusive conditions in order to wear one and that is when a woman is either praying and/or prophesying. But does this interpretation stand up to logic? If we were to believe that under certain conditions a woman ought to wear a physical head covering, then it stands to reason that under OTHER conditions a woman should be able NOT to wear one. For example, if you are going to argue that a woman ought to wear a veil because the Bible claims there are two conditions, then it is logical to presume that any other condition would ALLOW them to be without one, like speaking in tongues, interpreting tongues, healing the sick, casting out devils, etc. Now if a head covering promoter should claim that there are MORE conditions, then they admit that there aren’t really “two” conditions thereby nullifying the two-condition argument. The reasoning behind why the “two-condition” argument is important for veil promoters is because if these words were actual conditions, then it would seem as though the covering were something that can be placed on or taken off. So even though it does not literally or EXPLICITLY say anything about putting on or taking off a veil. Veil promotors form this belief based on what they believe to be IMPLIED and not by a direct statement. Many people like to believe this because they ASSUME that praying and prophesying are two conditions instead of seeing them as mere examples. * Praying and prophesying were meant to be viewed as examples, not conditions… Now I can understand how someone can mistakenly conclude praying and prophesying as conditions in verse 5, on the surface, but once you read the rest of the verses in context one cannot reach that conclusion. For example, if the strongest argument is because there were conditions for women to wear veils because of verse 5 then why don’t we hear the same thing spoken of about men in verse 4? “Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.” Normally we do not hear the argument that men ought not to have their heads covered exclusively under two conditions as we hear for women as to why they should. I think it is because that would imply that they CAN have their heads covered under other circumstances like the examples I mentioned before as in speaking in tongues, interpreting tongues, healing the sick, casting out devils, etc. But I suspect a veil promoter would not go along with this. Then there is verse 7: “For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.” So, there seems to be ANOTHER reason for men not to cover. Therefore, if the reason for men not to cover their heads in this verse is because he is the “image and glory of God,” then why even mention praying or prophesying in verse 4? Should a man not be covered under ANY condition since verse 7 overrides any supposed conditions? Shouldn’t that make you question that perhaps Paul was just giving a couple of examples? Verses 4 and 5 are basically the same except for whom they are directed yet when one hears the arguments by veil promoters it is typically about how verse 5 is conditional for women yet for men in verse 4 it is usually not spoken of. Again, isn’t it more likely that Paul was using the words praying and prophesying as examples in both verses? We can also get a sense that Paul was referring to praying and prophesying as examples if we read verse 13 when it only mentions the word praying and NOT prophesying. “Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?” If there were only two exclusive conditions, then why would he leave out prophesying? We can’t say he got tired in his writing as he mentioned both words in verses 4 and 5. So, what can we say about this? Just that Paul was giving us a couple of examples of how doing something HOLY or GODLY does not give a pleasant appearance if the woman is uncovered, meaning not covered in long hair and the same goes for men when their heads are covered in long hair since that is exactly one is supposed to understand when reading verse 14. * So Is the Covering Long Hair or a Veil? ….. If we examine all the verses from verses 4 to 15 without bias, we should at least agree that at certain points the verses are referring to physical heads and hair. In that case, what we should be asking when mentioning the words “covered,” “cover,” “uncovered” and “covering” is: Are they referring to long or short hair or some kind of foreign object that goes on the head? Some will even say all the above, but if we carefully examine verse 15 we would be getting a clearer picture of what was being referred to in the earlier verses when it mentions these words. “But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her FOR a covering." KJV So if the covering is long hair, then the words “covered” or “cover” (which are synonymous with “covering”) should be understood as long hair as well. If that’s true, then to be “uncovered” would mean “short hair.” If so, then we can get a better picture of verse 4 when it says that it is shameful or dishonorable for a man to pray or prophesy with his head “covered.” Note the similarity of verse 4 to verse 14 that’s because they are both referring to being covered in LONG hair.

* The “Head Covering Journey or Testimony” Obsession…. Within the realm of this misinterpretation, one can find that there exists an OBSESSION to speak about this topic incessantly. Evidence of this can easily be found online from various individuals who have made videos on head coverings. Many times, it’s the same person who makes more than one video on the subject. Going so far as to elevate it as though they were on some “journey” (as they call it) or that there is some kind of “testimony” to share, even though there is no scriptural reason to regard it this way. Let me be clear, there is NO SCRIPTURAL reason to ever think that 1st Corinthians 11 propitiates this level of attention or “sacredness” towards fabric head coverings. Whether you think the head covering is a veil or hair the Bible does not give allowance to obsess or talk about this subject in such an extreme manner. Typically, proponents of wearing veils are those who will act somewhat mystical by over-emphasizing it as though this were one of the most important topics of the entire Bible. Such people often repeatedly state in a very stubborn manner that they don’t care what others think and that they take any negativity as a badge of honor. They often refuse to listen to any biblical soundness because they have already convinced that what they are doing is right. In short, they basically close themselves off from any reasonable debate or discussion and oftentimes invoke the devil as the reason why others would want them to know that they do not need to wear a head covering. When in fact I believe God is trying to help them understand that the Bible is refering to long hair and not veils. Such persons often mention how they FEEL, that they are somehow CLOSER to God by SIMPLY WEARING A VEIL, which is akin to those who believe that an inanimate object holds some kind of power like a talisman. Such dedication is like unto Catholics who say the exact same things regarding a scapula, crucifix, rosary, or prayer card. For the most part, their unwavering attachment to this is based more on EMOTION rather than something biblical. I’ve even read how some claim that wearing it at night stopped their nightmares or pains, which I don’t doubt because for some (not all) their minds can be easily influenced to believe anything they want it to believe. Just like those who follow very false gospels who swear that some amulet or religious artifact helped in some way. I’ve noted that many people who leave comments on KZbin videos on this topic repeatedly speak about how God or the Holy Ghost “convicted” them of wearing a veil. It’s never usually about how the Bible convinced them, but rather some kind of spiritual or religious experience brought them to believe that they ought to wear a veil. This line of thinking can be very dangerous because if the experience does not line up with the Scriptures, then the alternative is an experience one is creating in their own mind or at worst something demonic in nature. For those who create videos, it’s gotten so that some will constantly and needlessly point to this topic in any way, shape, or form, from why they wear it, to how to wear it, to how they feel about it or how it has affected others, and so on. With all due respect, this is truly ridiculous. It is evident that for some this has become a form of fanatical extremism. Not unlike those who repeatedly talk about the Sabbath like the Seventh-Day Adventists or any other religion that over-focuses on one area of the Bible. Can you imagine that instead of focusing on the gospel they put more effort and concentration on something written briefly in one chapter of the whole Bible and on top of that misinterpreting it? The evidence is in the videos they make over and over on this ONE subject. This is a form of IDOLATRY. What’s even worse are those who claim that God TOLD them or LED them to put a hat, cap, or veil on their heads. If this is you, then I implore you to reconsider by reading the scriptures I have shared. It’s never too late to get it right.

Aw thank you! I’m glad God could use my disobedience to reach other people 😂 We can either disobey now and pay the consequences later and then be behind on where God wants us to be or we can be obedient now, pay the price and reap the harvest later. It’s so worth it to just do what God is saying. I can’t tell you how much I regret the time I wasted running away from Him. But the Lord is redeeming it 🙏 Father God, I pray for Daisy right now, Lord. I thank you so much for speaking to her heart. God I pray that You would fill her with Your supernatural strength and courage to be obedient to You. I pray that she would fear what You think of her more than what anyone else thinks of her, God. Empower her by the power of Your Holy Spirit to answer the call that You have on her life, God. I pray that You would minister to her, and fill her with Your grace. Only You can give us the power to do what You have called us to do Father, so I pray that You would take her into a deeper place with You, Father, that she would learn complete obedience and dependence on Your Holy Spirit because Your ways and Your thoughts are so much higher than ours. God we thank You for how patient and gentle You are with us, God. You are the best Lord that we can have so I pray that Daisy would fully submit to You, God and not turn back. It’s not worth it. What You have is so much better for her. We thank You that You will complete the work that You started in her Lord. In Jesus name, amen. 🙏❤️ God bless you Daisy ❤️ This journey isn’t easy, but God will give you the strength if You fully submit to Him. It’s not worth it to go Your own way. There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death. Proverbs 14:12 Jesus is the only way, the only truth and the only path to life ✝️❤️

You’ve got guts. One time I was involved in doing deliverance ministry on a woman. At the start I asked her to put on a head covering and when she did the demonic voices in her head started to swear and cuss etc. The demons do not like head coverings. Later on a I cast a demon of feminism out of her. When I challenged the demon it manifested and then I quoted 1 Timothy 2:12 and it spoke through her and swore at me telling me it hated me as I went through all the New Testament passages relating to biblical manhood and womanhood. I finished up going through a mass deliverance list of feminist spirits like “matriarchal dominance” and “Jezebel” etc. One by one they were screaming and coming out of her. The final demon revealed that it it thought women were stupid etc. This tells me that the feminist spirit does not empower or love women. It hates women, looks down on women and wants to destroy them. Feminism hates biblical womanhood. At the end of that ministry the woman couldn’t remember anything that had taken place. She had been totally out of it and she admitted that in that area she would probably need more deliverance. Unfortunately following that experience she refused to carry on with more ministry because she was unwilling to repent of cheating on her husband or to acknowledge her narcissism. She was lying about her husband and accusing him of being a narcissist. I known him for a long time now and he’s definitely not a narcissist. It’s a sad ending but it definitely exposed the supernatural reality of head coverings and Satan’s hatred for biblical manhood and womanhood. On the bright side her husband carried on to greater and greater freedom in his life. It seems evangelical feminism has infiltrated and taken over our charismatic church’s. I personally think it’s demonic. Bless you for speaking up sister. Keep doing what you’re doing. Btw Derek Prince’s wife - Ruth Prince also used to wear head covering when she prayed or prophesied.

@@KayintheBible If you’re talking to me - I don’t have one because I’m a dude. So we just grabbed a cloth and used it in the moment. I did it because I heard of other people doing that in deliverance. However, I would be careful nowadays because I want to make sure I’m not pressuring people into it either. The demonic does recognise that head coverings historically and culturally represented a spiritual reality of male headship and they recognised in that moment that that’s what we were doing, but at the same time I want women to come to their own convictions on this. In a ministry setting I think a deliverance minister can be authentic but in their humanness can still apply something that is correct in an abusive way. I’m in the tension of realising that the demons may not like something but at the same time if the person who is receiving ministry isn’t comfortable with something I’m hesitant to push that on them. Demons don’t ever like being cast out but that doesn’t mean we should force deliverance ministry on people who don’t want it. If the person says “no” we should probably leave it alone. Same with head coverings when ministering deliverance. If the person says “no” then we shouldn’t push it. Not that I did that. I definitely did not push it on her, but I don’t want people to feel backed into a corner and I think in some instances a woman might go along with it because she feels a pressure to even though she may not want to. It definitely has to be her choice.

Once God called me back Him, and I started reading the Bible, I was delighted to learn that's not true. I've been trying to mostly wear head coverings on a regular basis when I'm out in public. It's usually one of those triangle things or a long rectangular piece of cloth for a head covering. They still show the hair from the back. I'm also getting away from wearing pants, except at work, where I have to wear them. May GOD Bless You and your family.

Father God, I pray for James right now Lord. I thank you for his heart for You to follow You and to do Your will. I pray that You would bring the right woman into his life. That you would bless him with a godly wife. A woman who truly fears You and loves You. We thank you Lord, in advance for answering. I pray that James would continue to trust and have faith in You to deliver and that he would not grow weary but that You would renew his strength as he waits for Your perfect timing. Open his heart to fully surrender and allow You to operate on his heart during this waiting period. Heal the areas in his heart that need healing and renew his mind in the areas that are in need of life. Deliver him from every deception and uproot every lie in his heart Lord. Make him fully ready to be a godly husband. In Jesus name amen. 🙏 @James-hk6gc

Over the last year I've been head covering off and on. What type of head covering do you use and is it a pre-tied or a beanie type? Or is it something that you wrap around your head and tie yourself? I often get really frustrated with the wrapping of a scarf and I've just used beanies and pre-tied head covers or turbans. I really like the simplicity and look of yours so if you could please share how you do it or where you got it that would be very helpful. Thank you! 🙏

Why did you choose to cover all of your hair versus just having a cover on your head? I've seen other women who are Christian who cover their head but they claim that they only need to wear a cover on their HEAD, as a sign of headship of God above them etc. but not cover all of their hair, because that's what Muslim and Orthodox Jewish women do. But I've seen women do it either way, as a follower of Jesus. So I was just wondering what personally convicted you to cover all of your hair?

According to those who believe women ought to wear veils this verse 5 implies that a woman’s uncovered head is someone who does not wear a veil, is wrong for failing to wear it and assumes that such a person already has long hair. Therefore, the conclusion is that it must be referring to an “additional” covering. Another conclusion is that if a woman ought to be covered only when praying and prophesying then it would seem as though it is something that can be taken on or off like a veil. A typical question from those who are against hair being “the covering” is usually something like this: “If a woman ONLY needs to cover during prophecy or prayer, then how can a woman take off her hair and then put it back on?” The logical response to this is: Where did you read the word: "Only?" Such a person assumes the Bible refers to an “exclusive condition” instead of viewing it as simply two examples being given. IF YOU TRULY BELIEVE IN THIS “EXCLUSIVITY INTERPRETATION” then an UNVEILED woman should be fine if they speak in tongues, interpret tongues, heal the sick, cast out devils, etc., right? As long as the woman is NOT praying or prophesying, then she need not wear a veil, right? If your answer is NO, then you admit that there are likely more instances where it would not look right and do not truly believe that ONLY under praying or prophesying does a woman need to be covered; thereby making the argument that the covering is removable based on two conditions, moot. So what can we say about this? Just that Paul is giving us a couple of examples of how doing something holy does not look right if she is uncovered, in other words not covered in hair. The question is: Is he really referring to the lack of a veil or the lack of hair meaning not having long hair? Also, please keep in mind that the word “veil” is not actually mentioned here, neither anything that IMPLICITLY states that the covering is something can be placed on or taken off. Here’s something to consider: imagine a woman with long flowing hair praying and prophesying without a veil. Would the lack of a veil really equate to someone as if they were shaven? Why would anyone come to this conclusion? It would seem a bit odd that a woman with long hair who is not wearing a veil should somehow be equated to being shaved. This is most certainly an odd thought pattern if we accept the veil interpretation. But it does fit the narrative of those who understand the word “uncovered” to mean “not covered in long hair” or simply put, “short hair.” Looking at a woman with short hair one can easily say that she might as well be shaved. So be honest, doesn’t it make more sense that when they refer to an uncovered woman they are referring to a woman with short hair? Wouldn’t that be MORE closely relatable to being shaven than to someone who has long hair but not wearing a veil being equated to someone shaved? To put it in another way it is not a big leap to make the correlation between short hair to being shaven, unlike being asked to make a GIGANTIC LEAP OF LOGIC that an unveiled woman (even with long flowing hair) is somehow equal to being shaved. Think about it. * Is the Covering Long Hair or a Veil? ….. (II) If we examine all the verses from verse 4 to 15 without bias we should at least conclude that the passages have something to do with the physical heads of both men and women. The question we should ask is: When they refer to “covered,” “cover,” “uncovered” and “covering” are they referring to hair that covers the head or some kind of veil? Some will even say both, but if we carefully examine verse 15 it would seem that we would be getting a clearer picture of what was being referred to in the earlier verses when it mentions the words, “covered,” “cover” and “uncovered." “But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her FOR a covering." If the covering is long hair then the words “covered” or “cover” which are synonymous to “covering,” should be understood as long hair as well. Then it makes sense when it says that it is shameful or dishonorable for a man to pray or prophesy with his head “covered” because they are referring to long hair. Now logically speaking wouldn’t being “uncovered” or “not covered” then mean short hair? Therefore, if to be covered refers to “long hair” then the opposite should be true, in that to be “uncovered” should be understood as having “short” hair. This is not complicated at all to understand it is basic logic. * You Should Naturally Know Right From Wrong by Just Looking…. (III) If these verses do not move you yet then here’s one that should definitely blow your mind. Paul asks you to make a judgment call in verse 13 as if one should naturally see a problem because he asks you to: "Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?" If “covering” really meant a veil then one would have to explain why anyone would possibly come up with a judgment that a woman praying or prophesying WITHOUT A FABRIC VEIL ON THEIR HEAD WOULD LOGICALLY OR NATURALLY LOOK WRONG? Someone needs to explain this logically. Be honest, does looking at someone doing this naturally create a thought that a veil is missing? I have never seen or heard anyone say: "What a shame she is not wearing a veil on her head” after looking at a woman with long hair while praying or prophesying, that would be ludicrous. There is no NATURAL or NORMAL reasoning to make such a judgment. But if the word “uncovered” were to mean "short hair." then it would make logical sense. Because if I see a woman who has a manly haircut doing these holy things like we read in verse 5, then I can naturally judge that something doesn’t look right. Also, the very next verse continues this line of thinking that things should be obvious to understand by mere observation in nature. "Doth not even NATURE itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him." 1st Corinthians 11:14 Note that verses 13 and 14 are two consecutive questions both of which asks you to NATURALLY ASSUME that there something wrong by SEEING a woman’s head to be uncovered (meaning having short hair) and a man having long hair (meaning being covered). I would like to also add that it is NOT jumping from a “veil” in 13 and then suddenly to “hair” in 14 like some would like to suggest, because you will note that verse 15 refers back again to the woman which FLAT OUT STATES the “covering” to mean “long hair.” Therefore there is NO EXCUSE to not understand the previous verses. By this simple understanding we can then understand the part where it states that it is shameful or dishonoring for a man to pray or prophesy with his head covered, meaning covered in long hair, like in verses 4: “Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.” This “dishonoring” of the head fits perfectly with verse 14 where it mentions that it is “shameful“ for a man to have long hair, therefore the topic is the same throughout the verses in that the head covered in this verse refers to “long hair. ” I should also add that these verses in NO WAY imply that the covering on the man can be placed on or taken off, like some like to argue. It’s SIMPLY SAYING that it is a dishonor if a man prays or prophesies in LONG HAIR. The same should be understood in verse 7: “For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.” Again, they are NOT implying something that can be put on or taken off but that the man should not cover his head (with long hair) and the reason because he is the image and glory of God. This same idea should be included in the verses that refer to women like in verse 6: “For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.” This verse is often misinterpreted like verse 5 when it’s simply mentioning in the same tone as the previous verse that if a woman has short hair then let her head be shaved BUT if it is a shame to be shaven let her be covered in long hair. It’s really not complicated once you understand what it means to be covered or uncovered. Everything else starts to make sense when you read the other verses knowing that they are referring to hair. I can only imagine how lost one must be when they are stuck on one or two verses that to them seems questionable but not take into consideration all the other verses that point to the “covering” as long hair and “uncovered” to mean short hair. Therefore, given all this logic and proof, how can one conclude that they are referring to a hat, bonnet or veil? Again, how can one have logical judgments or conclusions that by merely looking at a long-haired woman performing such holy acts without a veil that one would automatically assume that there is something off? It makes no logical sense. So before anyone gets riled up why not first try to EXPLAIN 1st Corinthians 11:13 because I suspect most people will simply ignore it. In short, therefore, the whole veil doctrine is wrong, it cannot be substantiated and should be rejected.- Originally by a commenter named FA

You're wrong because you don't refer to or know the traditions and context. Reading the Bible without context can only lead to confusion. Jewish women were not only veiled, like the Virgin Mary, but it seems to me that they even wore a second veil when they prayed. In any case, it's clear that Saint Paul is talking about a real veil, not just a figurative one (it's the hair as a figurative veil but doesn't exempt from wearing one to explicitly show the sign). If we follow you, on the one hand Paul really wouldn't have been clear, and on the other, he would have ignored both Jewish and Christian traditions. Saint Paul isn't inventing anything here, and the first Christians and the Church made no mistake about it. To put it another way, you don't understand that this passage from Saint Paul is a theological justification of female modesty, and an example of the subordination of women to men.

@@lucasroumengous1064 Ok lets talk about context. The passage refers to "long hair" 2x's "hair" 1x, shorn 2x and shaven 2x. NOT ONCE does it mention the word cloth or fabric or veil or hat. Therefore the CONTEXT is about hair NOT a veil. The only one who is CONFUSED here about CONTEXT is YOU. Why are you calling Mary "Virgin Mary"she WAS a virgin during Jesus' birth but afterward she had more children ITS IN THE BIBLE. What are you Catholic? You make CLAIMS that Jewish women wore veils as if it were some kind of mandate. Well? Where is this mandate in the Bible. Or are you really a catholic because Catholics LOVE following things that cannot be proven from the Bible they have to constantly refer to "traditions" Paul was preaching that men ought to keep their short and women long. You don't seem to have ANY proof to back up your claims. Why not do that FIRST so that one can READ whether your claims are biblically sound or not?

@@lucasroumengous1064 How can you say that I do not know or refer to context? Here is indisputable context for you: “Long hair” is written twice, “hair” alone is written once, “shorn” is written twice, and “shaven” is written twice. But the words hat or cloth or veil are not written. So based on the context of words what do you think Paul was referring to? Please note that Mary is just Mary not virgin Mary she had kids after Jesus was born.

In fact, the passage from St. Paul, I Cor, 11:2-16 is clear if we pay attention. Although St. Paul uses the situation of prayer as an example, this is not the reason he gives. I think he uses the situation as a textbook case of the difference between men and women. Let's not forget that this is probably public prayer, in church, so I think the reason has more to do with the public aspect. Or perhaps Saint Paul mentions the angels, because even when praying alone, a woman must show her modesty and dependence on men, because the angels can see her. But in this case it's less a question of modesty in the strict sense (angels are not tempted) than of piety and humility. St. Paul plays on the meaning of the word "head", and says that women must veil themselves because of men, for woman is drawn from man, she is the glory of man. There is a hierarchy willed by God. So all this passage from St. Paul is a theological approach to the question of modesty. Since a woman's being is inseparable from man's, to preserve her femininity in all its modesty is to preserve her particular glory. This is all the more true for women destined to marry. But in any case, immodesty as an occasion for covetousness is what makes a mockery of this glory, and in this sense the unveiled woman becomes an occasion for scandal. For men to have women they respect without a doubt is so precious, and it makes them better. If it were simply a question of submission to God, then we wouldn't understand why men shouldn't veil.
