I went down to Ohio with my brother to experience the totality! We went to the Toledo Zoo and there were a lot of people that came from Michigan. When the totality came, I was just blown away and it almost got me to tears. It was worth the traffic and the long drive. Truly an experience I'll never forget!🌑

I was in Columbus IN. We had fairly clear skies and over 4 minutes of totality. It was the most awesome thing I’ve ever experienced in my life.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I saw the solar eclipse in my PC because I live in Chile. How ever, when the Moon blocked the Sun in Mazatlán, Mexico, I cried. It was like being there and enjoying the view in person. I was touched and moved❤

I admit I did get emotional when the moon covered the sun. It was such a great moment.

Reside along N.Y., Pa. border. Around mid state line. Cloud cover so thick you could not see the Sun. Closed my eyes and let the sounds of nature encompass me. Dusk to daylight in a matter of minutes. It was not a total bust. I enjoy your content very much.

You're absolutely right, a photograph cannot do justice on how magnificent the sight is. And those pretty pictures you see online have been heavily air-brushed & looks nothing like what you see with your eyes. Glad you're able to witness it!

I drove from Toronto, ON, Canada to Mansfield(Dallas), TX, USA with two telescopes. My spouse flew in to join me after I arrived in Texas and on the day of the eclipse we set up in a park in Mansfield. By the time totality arrived we'd gathered a group of about 30 people who came to the park to view the eclipse. Being able to see and more importantly, share, views of totality with magnified views of the corona and solar prominences via the telescopes was amazing. I still get chills remembering. We few photos of the growing eclipse and totality through electing to stay in the moment. I'm looking forward to my next opportunity to chase and observe a total solar eclipse.

I do wish I could have seen the sun's corona and prominences. That would have been amazing! I'm glad you got to see it and that you had a good experience!

That was awesome Janine, so glad you guys got to see it! We drove up to Maine from northern MA, though we didn't make it all the way, we saw about 90% of the eclipse which was still extremely cool!👍👍

I watched it from near Ennis, Texas. I was less than a mile from being in the exact center of the path. It was very cloudy before the eclipse began. After the eclipse started, I would get breaks in the clouds. Just before totality, the sky cleared enough for me to enjoy the entire time of totality with perfect views. Where I was, it was total for 4 min 28 sec. The whole experience was amazing.

Having seen the eclipse a few years back in South Carolina, I did not want to miss this one. I met up with family in Ohio. We drove west for a clear sky and it was worth it. It's such a beautiful phenomenon!

We watched from a spot in Indiana. It was amazing. We had seen the previous eclipse in Kentucky. Yes, the quieting of the birds and the other animals is amazing. We also shared our eclipse glasses with some others who didn't come prepared, so it was a bit of a social event too.

Thanks for sharing. I’ve seen only one total eclipse -a very long time ago- fascinating but I was too young to really appreciate its beauty. Wonderful that the night sky treated you so generously!! I live in NY on Long Island; the night sky can be very “murky “! We had gorgeous blue skies for the eclipse & eventhough it wasn’t total, it was majestic. Beautiful shadows, cooling breeze, darkening surroundings, quiet birds. Wonder in the sky AND on the Earth!!!!

Thank your Mum. Fellow 🎉 grand parents will always do what we can! In Ottawa we had 98%, the birds were obviously disturbed. The street came on for about 24 minutes, but I was in hope of something darker. We shared it with our granddaughter, her uncle (our son) and us! Thank you for your video

Hi Janine, On the 4th of April I flew from London Uk to my cousin 's home in San Antonio Texas to image and view the Total solar eclipse, sadly on eclipse day it cloudy over on the day, but did video the eclipse and watched the birds flying back into the trees. I was glad I get to spend this time with my family and friends . I enjoy watching your videos, Thanks for your video of the eclipse

Great video. Fam and I did very similar thing to you, but was longer drive from AZ to TX. Had some clouds too, but right at totality it cleared up pretty well to see corona. Saw Venus, but Mercury was lost in the brightness of the corona, was surprised by that. There were 10 of us who traveled together in 4 generations. Talk about a bucket list event, wow! So glad there were so many geeking out simultaneously, that too was a special in itself.

I can't say I would ever travel to see an eclipse, so this one was kinda important for me to catch. We were very near totality a few years back but, where I'm at in illinois, we just missed that one. We had clear skies and somehow I had no customers at work. We saw just shy of a minute of totality. Fantastic view and clear skies. It was pretty ok but, after sunset, our sky opened up to millions upon millions of stars. Much better than the eclipse.
@JunipersQuest6 ай бұрын
I got to view this with my parents and my son at home in our backyard. We to went star gazing after sunset my son knows where most of the constellations are but the one he wants to see is Centaurs and Crux but where we are in Southern Illinois they are not seen.

I used the shadow of my 50mm H-alpha solar scope to find the Sun. When it is the smallest the Sun was in the view of a wide angle eyepiece and then adjusted my finder scope. But I watched the eclipse through a pair of 7x50mm binoculars with solar film while I filmed the eclipse with my filtered 102mm triplet refractor at 27x, which was just under filling up the field of view. The H-alpha scope is more for observing the full Sun. Sorry the Hestia gave up on you.
@erikahuxley6 ай бұрын
It was only 1 min for me, but it was unforgettable. It was closer to 99.9% and not totality, just a slight glint of the sun piercing through in one corner. And a halo of light around the moon/sun. All the high def camera footage I seen do not replicate this aura of light, it has to be experienced in person.

I am lucky, saw the last one in StL and drove down towards Carbondale [, Illinois] for this one. I felt sorry for the poor people following their phones, because there was this horrific traffic jam if you went the routtes my phone was telling me. Took the back routes and I like to listen to my playlist while looking at all the farms and flowers here. kzbin.info/aero/PLDtj-YPA6aZ_VU4yUE0OuUT_tyx5wR5Xo

I live in Sweden and the two things on the top of my bucketlist is One see the southern hemisphere and two experience a total solar eclipse. Could you do an episode on Canopus the second brightest star. Have you seen it Is it visible from Hawaii?
@learnthesky6 ай бұрын
Getting the southern hemisphere is on my bucket list as well....I actually want to live there for some time so I can see and learn all the constellations. I do have some research compiled on Canopus. Yes, I have seen it in Hawaii.
