I was taking 1 mg twice a day. It got to the inevitable point where it stopped helping. At that point, I made the decision to get off of it rather than going deeper. I did exactly how you did it. Dropped small of clonazepam over time. It was rough but stuck to my goals. It took me about 7 months to get off of it as a normal med. PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME GETTING OFF OF CLONAZEPAM!

My nurse practitioner took me off 2mg Klonapin (clonazepam), 15mg Mirtazapine (remeron antidepressant), and Trazodone nightly for sleep all at once. HUGE MISTAKE. She also left to go work at another place right when I had gone off all of them - with zero warning!!!! 🤯 🤯 🤯 It was completely horrible. The withdrawal symptoms are neurological and COMPLETELY BIZARRE. With help from another doctor I got back on Mirtazapine and Trazodone, and that helped out immensely! I was finally able to sleep after months of hell no sleeping. Everything came together for a perfect storm ☔️ for me, because I was also failing in a personal struggle with addiction - still am. Life went to hell in every imaginable way. I’m about to go back to work. Life will be better then. Good video.

@@edie4321 I am strongly biased against psychiatric medication 💊 big time now. Benzo’s are an anesthetic. They shouldn’t be prescribed for any longer than 2-4 weeks. In case people are wondering what “benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome” feels like, it feels like a form of brain 🧠 damage that makes it so you are highly anxious and can’t sleep but a few hours every other night. The symptoms are SO BIZARRE. They’re neurological. I was frequent body zaps for months as my brain was healing. It’s like being shocked with electricity - but it doesn’t hurt. Part of what makes it worse is that you have no idea how long it’s going to take to get through it. Most people don’t expect it at all. All of the sudden you have something that feels like brain damage… and you can’t find a decent doctor in your state. Now what?

I recently finish tapering off Ativan after 12 years of it. I initiated a very slow taper and it took two years. I'm getting older and felt it was affecting me cognitively and then found out what a nightmare it is to get off of and in my experience it is. The thing is many many doctors today do not believe in a slow taper and will not work with you as they are much more concerned about FDA and government regulations regarding benzos. I have personal friends who are actually just yanked off in a month. Really scary! I thank God everyday that I initiated my own taper without even telling my doc. And even that was extremely difficult but I did eventually get off

I'm going through the same thing and it sucks. I'm tapering 1% a month after taking it for 9 years and just got cold turkeyed for a couple days when I lost the meds on a vacation that screwed me up big time. Tapered from .75mg clonopin to .345 in a year and a half previously and had to reinstate at 1mg a day because of the cold turkey to keep me out of the ER. Like you said I don't care if this takes five years too as long as I can live a normal life and just slowly taper. Great video!

Hi There !!! Thanks for sharing your story. It Helps us all. I have a story kinda like your vacation experience that I' going to share in a future video. Your experience exposes one of the worst things about Benzos. you are attached to your pharmacy as much as you are attached to the drug. Taking vacations can be a problem if you run out or if you lose them let what happened to you. Thanks again God Bless John

I wound up getting addicted to methadone after a titrated off clonazepam because it not only gave me releif but made me feel good, fast forward 10 years im 6 months off the methadone and skipped the benzo withdrawals.yes it was trading one drug for another but the methadone withdrawals were easy compared to benzo withdrawals. I thought id mentionthis because ive never seen anyone else do this. I'm not really advocatig people to switch to a opioid but i guess if you cant get through the withdrawal of benzo and want to self delete this option is slightly easier

Kratom! It works on the opiate receptors, without being an opiate. I used it to get off of opiates, Adderall, benzos, Cymbalta, and more. I'm not saying it will be easy, and kratom can be addictive, too, but not with all the dangers and side effects. For pain sufferers, the red kratom covers pain. I'm censored for saying this, so you know it works. Kratom is a natural substance, so Big Pharma hates it, as they can't patent it. I immediately got my critical thinking skills back, the rest, is still coming. If I had been given rehabilitation and relief for what caused my issues, I'd be a lot better. It's a miracle.

@@paulmckinnon5199 I was on 1mg clonazapam for a year then did water titration method to taper off. once off for a few months i tried a 10mg methadone tablet and felt surprisingly pretty good. the guy i was buying the methadone from passed away and i started going to a clinic for methadone but I wound up staying on it 10 years just because i liked it and was very productive. my addictive personality took hold and i wound up being on 188mg at my peak. I decided to begin tapering off slow (took a few years) then jumped off at 5mg 9 months ago and been off ever since. I do still have opiate post acute withdrawals from being on it so long and some days are ok others are bad but its manageable and starting to enjoy things.

Way worse. The only two drugs that you can die from withdrawal are alcohol and benzodiazipines. Heroin withdrawal is horrible, yes, but you can make it out without being hospitalized. If you're at a high dose of benzos and you come off without tapering, you're in for a REALLY bad time. Heroin can't even compare. Plus, they can give you Suboxone or Methadone for heroin - Nothing like that for benzos.

@@anxietystruggleisrealjohnl2774 yea i know i cold turkeyed 20mg of lexapro and 1mg of ativan in march 2021 also reinstated multiple times and took klonopin and trazadone during "withdrawals" snapped into psychosis and got akathisia. I barely made it out alive took me 2 and half years to feel somewhat normal and now i feel much better although I still have lingering symptoms here and there like short term memory and numb feet from pacing 15 hours a day for a year. @@dustygatrell-ru7tg i not only kindled i lost my mind and got akathisia i like literally lost my mind. So its been about 39 months since it all started and i healed a lot from the worst point like for the most part i feel normal there are still lingering issues like memory and creativity some balance issues dizziness but compared to where I was before its night and day. Am I the same as before it all happened ? No but that's because of all the craziness who could be the same after something like this ? I cant give you a timeline because it wasn't like a linear healing process the kindling and the adding new different "meds" just made the whole thing complicated and everything way worst than it should have been but it happens

@@dustygatrell-ru7tg depends on what "completely heal" even means. Is that like when everything in life is sunshine and rainbows and you're on top of the world ? I had all the crazy symptoms from "withdrawal" including akathisia which is horrific and im just glad thats gone. The dp dr the head on fire burning nerves everywhere intense doom pins and needles head in a vice sleeping 2 hours a night for a year and a half. Well id say i came quite a long way so im just thankful to feel somewhat normal. Its been 39 months since it began i kindled like 3 different times months apart and took other stuff thats why it took so long for me. I had extremely bad advice from doctors. Like they purposely kept giving me bad advice like going to a killer for healthy living.
