My Judicial Committee - A Questioning Letter

Thank you for explaining this process. It did help me understand what was going on in my particular case. About a month ago I handed in a letter of disassociation. For years my uncle, who got baptized several years after I was, has been spreading malicious gossip in our congregation about my husband, who was not baptized, and my children and myself to anyone who would listen. It caused several members of the congregation to approach me about everything from headship issues, believing I was secretly well off enough to afford to send others to conventions, how I cared for elderly parents and grandparents, even reproach for being involved in helping my husband to find a home for us to purchase. Even to my own ears it still sounds ridiculous. Shortly after my husband died, one sister who I did not know, actually gained entrance in to my home when I was not there. My daughter contacted me to tell me that this sister had picked my mother up from her assisted living facility, brought her to our house, and simply walked in through our open front door as though she had the right to do so. She then proceeded to question my autistic daughter about whether or not we were still witnesses. I had not made a meeting for a couple of years at this point. I am voluntarily disassociating because I am tired of defending myself to no avail. This is no longer the organization that I grew up in. I love truth and this is not it.

May Witnesses claim that they alone have love and will treat an experience like yours as an exception, but in my position I of so many similar unloving acts that I have to admit they are the norm and true acts of love are the exception. Those who are loving and live as Christians are slowly but surely being squeezed out of the religion. Darkness abhors the light.

I have drawn the line on bad behavior from congregation members, and I do not expect any more real trouble from them other than shunning which was already happening to a certain degree. I've never heard an explanation as to why the judicial hearings and shunning process are scripturally unfounded put more comprehensively then what you've provided in this video. We wish we could have heard it 30 years ago when my wife and I took our stand and left the congregation and the Society on grounds of conscience that the Teachings of the society were unbiblical and the Christ Jesus the Savior was not acknowledged, and displaced by the Watchtower Society as an authority. thank you so much for this. Boy do I wish my family could understand how simple it really is I was married to an Elder's daughter 5 years into our marriage she committed adultery with somebody she worked with at her job not a witness I started drinking to cover my pain and I was the one that was disfellowshipped that was 24 years ago my ex-wife was never disfellowshipped and of course she never went back to the Kingdom Hall she married the man that she committed adultery with after divorcing me stayed with him for 17 years divorced him and is now with another man not a witness her family are still Witnesses and have a relationship with her and have had a relationship with her for 24 years but as for me I haven't been able to speak to my mother or sisters or brother in law's for 24 years how messed up is that my mother is a True Believer my father passed away in 1999 and he was the only one that had anything to do with me he went along with everything to keep peace with my mother but he still associated with me I want so bad to tell these people off every one of these people including those elders s i n everyday you're no better than me or anybody else but yet you have to go back to them and repent to them and yet you're still not forgiven because you have to go to the meetings for six months to a year and still be shunned by everyone when in fact I ask forgiveness from the Lord 24 years ago and I was forgiven

Charlene Watkins Sounds like they are getting ready to start the rumor mill on you guys. My husband is still in. The elders keep asking him if he would like for them to “help him with his wife”. He keeps putting them off because he knows very well I will do the same as your husband. I think my husband would prefer to let everyone at the KH that i am just “ spirituality weak”. Even though I have been attending a non denominational church and have not been secret about it. I speak to him about TTATT. He refuses to call me an apostate at least not to my face. Even agrees with me on some issues like the child abuse. I can only pray for him. Im sure Ill get my letter eventuality, when I do get the summons, Im torn between just not showing up, sending a disassociation letter, or showing up and recording the interrogation. sofia morgan Yes they pulled the spiritually weak phrase on both of us through the years because our questions were I guess you could say too invasive about the doctrines of theGB-WT. They would use reply’s that we heard over and over again.My husband went to a meeting that I did not attend that included the speaker saying we need people with higher education,when all the WT discourages this. The next week we both asked the elder why this talk was given and could I get an outline of the talk. He hemmed and hawed around about talk and made a sarcastic remark about higher education,(he is a janitor) and that was the end of it and I also know he didn’t like me putting him on the spot.His wife wanted me to meet her for lunch so she could put me on the spot about my feelings,she is a control freak,I just said no thanks. Me and my husband were not born into this religion and have always had an open conversation about things that made no sense scripturally. So the wool pulling over our eyes didl last long.

Thank you so much for this video and for explaining the Watchtower’s judicial disfellowshipping/disassociating process so clearly. That letter is on point, I find myself tempted to printing it out and framing it! I’m a ‘faded’ JW only awake since August 2018. My story in a nutshell: My baby sister was sexually abused by my older sister’s active JW husband from when she was 4 years old until she was 11. The elders knew about it and covered it up. To this day, and as far as I know, nothing’s been done with the pedophile (there’s much more to my story). My baby sister succumbed to suicide on March 17, 2014 💔.

Well what an honest and true appraisal of a twisted and warped non scriptural practice of the GB and elders, who feel they have to follow - even against their own conscience as I did when I was and elder for 14 years. I have always said that the act of disassociation is completely unscriptural because as you mention in the ARC it resulted in a victim of injustice, an innocent person being shunned for no sin what so ever. It is truly unscriptural and unloving, unmerciful and is completely at odds with what Jesus taught. Thanks so much for your video and I wish you well with whatever happens to you. Judging by the many judicial meetings on apostasy, they will not listen to God’s word, will not answer any questions scripturally, but are only interested in whether you view the GB as the “slave” end of. Same thing happen to me. Hadn't gone to a meeting in a 1.5 years, they hunted me down, made anonmous phone calls to my personal number, work number, showed up randomly to my building on several occasions. They sent a fed-ex package, which they picked up for me, and hand delivered. Only to tell my mom in the end that I needed to attend a Judical comittee, after first telling her that they just wanted to talk to me. My mom called them out on this lie, they said, we don't disfellowship anyone, they disfellowshpip themselves, so technically we are not trying to disfellowship him. I recorded the whole thing. lol

Ask a lawyer to send the Elder a letter stating, if they take any action against you. You will sue the local Elders for slander. They will call the Branch for direction. Hopefully, they will direct the Elders to leave you alone.

My very favorite scripture Exodus 23:2 don't follow the crowd to do evil, this is the Kings James version, their Bible says it even more plainly. This tells us it is an individual decision as to whether someone is bad association for us or not. We told the elders they are going to give people the wrong impression of us by disfellowshipping us, making them think we no longer want to serve Jehovah. It is exactly the opposite, because we want to serve him correctly we can't continue to support their wrong teachings in certain areas. It all falls on deaf ears. If they refuse your demands, but you say that you will still attend, then does this not make your demand impotent? All they need to do is nothing, and you still attend a kangaroo court and they have their way. I would threaten to take a lawyer with me. They back off when the law is involved.

I appreciate hearing the experience of an elder in this matter. As just regular publishers, we are pretty much in the dark about judicial policies. While i can very much understand that writing a letter of disassociation is difficult for those who have large families and many friends in the organization, (i sympathize), i personally was happy to write one. I wanted the organization to know that i wanted nothing to do with them. I wanted a clean break. I did however tell an elder friend of mine that 'i made a distinction between individuals in the organization, and the organization itself'. I knew i was leaving good people (Jehovah's "my people") behind, but i needed to separate myself from Babylon the great. I thought of Jesus' words, that if we loved anyone, even mother and father, more than him, we are not worthy of him.

@@stephonnicholls150 No I faded. Thankfully I don't have much family in that religion, just my grandmother. She, for awhile wouldn't communicate with me. But recently, I believe she came to her senses and spoke with me over the phone. She likely realized that she would never talk to me again if she was to wait for me to return to "The Truth". Her love thankfully overcame her religious convictions. To which I am truly thankful, I was quite distraught thinking I'd never again speak to her. I believe that faith has done a lot of good for alot of people, giving folks a basic Bible education (however twisted to watchtowers narrative). Although I know that what the watchtower teaches isn't in fact, "The truth" For my grandmother, and many like her, it's giving them a hope for the future. I still believe Christ will make things right. That many of the witnesses will be given a chance at learning the actually truth. Whatever that may be. I'd like to keep that hope for myself as well. There must be something meaningful at the end of this life we live.

I have an idea...... since we all now know the time and location of this judicial committee meeting everyone in the area of this meeting should show up at the Kingdom hall parking lot, and form a line and we should all show our support for Eric and shake Eric's hand as he goes into his meeting. I was associated with this organization for 10 years, during my teens and early twenties. This was 30 years ago. I was not disfellowshipped, disassociated, or reproved. I just came to a realization that this was a harmful organization. If I was contacted by elders, I would contact the police. These people have no power over you, unless you grant it to them. If you choose go to a judicial meeting, please consider taking a lawyer or an advocate with you.

Cruz Deleon That's the point, it would be "harassment". No one has the right to harass me and to cause me anxiety or distress. The concept of sitting across from three elders "judging" me at a judicial committee is as foreign to me as entering a confessional and confessing my sins to a priest. What matters to me, is having a clean conscious with my God. You don't need to play by the JW rules, they have no power over you. I'm sure they would get the message that they do not have the right to harass me. What would they do at the congressional level? I don't know and I don't care. What matters to me is my standing before my God and not before men. Mr. Wilson may choose to confront the elders from his previous congregation. That is his right.

As a restraining order? You are correct if only most people would report them to the police after repeatedly being contacted by these people over the phone or at home then they would get the message that they are not God-like. When I received my letter from the elder on April 23,2018, Fayetteville East Congregation, I laughed! For I will not allow or put anyone in the place of the Christ as judge, jury, or authoritive ruler over my faith. My God Jehovah has given his son, Jesus Christ the authority to judge all. I don't encourage those who opposed the Christ. I just politely removed myself from associating with false teachers. They have no authority over me and I'm not going to give them any authority over me by submitting to their autocratic leadership.

I am thrilled to find your KZbin channel and your wesite. At last, someone tackling the Witnesses with the bible. I agree with everything you say. Your letter is brilliant! I am in a similar position to you - still technically a JW, but haven't been for years. I wouldn't be able to attend a meeting now without geting thrown out for laughing at the stupid dotrines. The problem is, how do I get my wife out? The JWs have made her so scared that she refuses to study the scriptures with me. I feel that she's married to the elders and not me. Who knows what silly thing she'll be instructed to do by them.

I would suggest asking her the very occasional question when the moment offers an opportunity, and refrain from arguing. Just plant seed of doubt in the actions and opinion and teachings of men, then fertilize the ground with a seed of truth from God's word.

Disfellowshipping is an scriptural as practised by Jehovah's Witnesses, but you can't stop them from sinning. However, you can write correspondence either by email or text or snail mail to the elders as well as all your friends in the community explaining why you are leaving the organization. They will still disfellowship you although they will call it disassociation, but at least you will have the benefit of having the last word and explaining yourself to those who might still have goodness in the heart and learn from your counsel.

I’m personally worried about the example of Korah. He grumbled against Moses Aaron and Miriam and he and all with him were executed. Is there a modern day equivalent to Moses and Aaron who we are expected to not grumble against. Also you have to think that in many cases, "sin"is actually short hand for self-harming behaviours whether it be promiscuity, gambling, violence. A good example being addiction - say an alcoholic - the very worse thing to do would be to shun them. Many end up commiting suicide in this situation. It's so unloving to shun. This is the time they need the loving example of their community the very most.

I got reproved many years ago when I was 17 for under age drinking. Many young ones like myself got caught or admitted it. I was the only one that got reproved because the elder that was in charge of the "case" didn't like my dad (who was also an elder at the time) How is that anything to do with Jehovah? It was a grudge.....
