It's so hard to get comfortable when you're passing one. I couldn't stay still, but the one position that allowed me to feel a little relief was laying on my back with a pillow under my lower back (put it on the side that was hurting the most). It only helped for about 5 minutes, I was still in extrutiating pain, but even that 1% relief felt like Heaven. I went to the ER and they said I had 3, and passed 1 so far so only 2 left. I went home and ab 1 month later I began passing my second one. It took DAYS to pass. I had to call off work and stay home from classes because I was really sick. For about 1.5-2 months after that one had passed, I would randomly run fever and get really ill. I went to a nephrologist and he sent me to the ER immediately for kidney infection, stones, and possible sepsis. I didn't want to go bc medical bills are really expensive but if I didn't go, he said I'd have kidney failure and maybe die from the infection spreading in my blood. I ended up having an obstruction and my 3rd stone was trapping the infection behind it. He said I was lucky to still be here, bc the infection was really bad since I let it go for so long. Bad on my part- but again, healthcare bills are ridiculous. My heart rate resting was 150bpm even when I was sleeping. I got surgery and that recovery pain was even worse than the stones themselves. Absolutely horrific. I feel like stones are sometimes just brushed off, but they can be really serious. They also told me to increase water intake and avoid certain foods like spinach, peanuts, tea, chocolate, etc. I followed that to a T and have developed even more stones since. My mom gets them so I hope the genetics don't keep me having them for the rest of my life :( Wishing the best for you!!

I'm 21. I had a similar-ish experience. Woke up with pain that got worse, vomited from it, went to the ER and found out. The pain is no joke. I literally told my friend (who took me to the ER) that it felt like I was in labor. The CT showed a 2mm stone. I can't imagine how painful it is to pass a larger stone... Lol I think that if you can survive kidney stone pain, you can survive anything else.

How long did it take to pass after it passed from your kidneys? Did you do anything to help it pass??
@jackcoleman1784
@jackcoleman1784 Жыл бұрын
For the record the pain with kidney stones is wildly inconsistent. I've known people that have passed upwards of 6 mm with little to no pain. I passed a 3mm using only Tylenol and Ibuprofen in the late stage. You can have a 2mm or less and have it be the worst pain of your life then pass a larger one with less pain. The reason is because the stones come in different shapes and depending on a combination of shape and size the pain can be different. If you get a "ninja death star" you'll be in for a hell of a trip as opposed to a smoother one.

I’m so sorry you had that. I’ve had kidney stone attacks twice in my life and they are very painful. Make sure you save that nausea medication in case you ever need it in the future. I don’t know what they gave you but if they gave you a Zofran that is a great nausea medicine does not make you tired it’s not contraindicated with other medicines it just works so well so just keep that on hand. I’m glad you got better. I was went to the ER of course each time and they hook me up to an IV the first time they had to give me seven doses of morphine before they could control The pain. In both cases they did a CAT scan on me and confirmed it was a kidney stone. Best of luck to you

I'm pretty sure they gave me Zofran. Both times I got that through an IV, then they gave me a prescription just in case I have another one. They confirmed that it was kidney stones through several ultrasounds and now I have to get checkups at a kidney specialist. Did you have to change your diet after having them? And it was still the worst experience of my life! I woke up two days ago with pain in my lower back and I thought it was my period and then after 30 minutes of crying it just stopped and I was fine but the next morning which was yesterday I woke up at 8 with the worst back and abdomen pain on my right side and I after an hour I started throwing up and sweating and I couldn’t sit still but I was about to pass out and after an hour of that I felt the stone pop out and then I peed a lot it was so crazy I almost called 911! I give major major props to you for getting through multiple days of pain like wow queen you are tough as nails girl!

I just had a ureteroscopy 4 days ago, with stent for a 8mm stone, as well as a few smaller stones in my left kidney. While the procedure is not a walk in the park, I have had very minimal issues post-op. -- The worst part for me was, immediately after surgery I was in some pretty intense pain, and they discharged me about 20 minutes after I woke up. The ride home was excruciating, as every bump in the road was felt, and the seat belt was digging into my left side aggravating my stent. Apparently, they gave me some extra pain killers before I was discharged. My GF said I was asking for more pain medication, to which the nurse gave some additional pills of "something". -- So, I agree. Ask the O.R. nurse to give you as much pain killer as they will allow just as soon as you're able to take it immediately following surgery. -- The GOOD news is, once we arrived home after about a 40 minute ride, the drugs started to kick-in, and I was feeling a bit better after being able to lay down again. For several hours, I tried drinking water, Crystal Light, tea, anything,....but I was already feeling quite bloated, and was NOT able to pee for several hours. -- The first pee was the absolute worst! You're entirely correct. It felt like urinating razor blades. Nausea set-in, and I felt like I wanted to vomit, as well as the pressure applied to the left kidney during urination. That "pain" took about 10 minutes to subside, but each subsequent urination got progressively better. Taking AZO seemed to help, and by the 2nd day, the burning urination had mostly subsided. Taking the combination of drugs I was prescribed, I was actually feeling somewhat "comfortable" later that day, and into that evening. By Day 4, I am mostly comfortable except for very minor stent aggravation, which I am managing by taking Extra Strength Tylenol. My stent comes out in another 12 days, and hopefully all is well after that,.....except I need to have the right kidney done at some point, as I had stones in BOTH kidney's. Thanks for posting your video, and allowing us to share our stories.

Yeah I'm in a small city in the U.S. and when I went I told them I might have renal failure because I had a previous doctor tell me she thought I might be in kidney failure due to a lot of protein in my urine. They took seven hours to see me when they were told I might be in renal failure. They literally cleared out the entire ER waiting room and even saw peopoe that came in after me when I could have been in renal failure. Turned out I had a 3mm kidney stone but still shit was ridiculous. Then they sent me home with five five mg oxycontin for the pain of a 3mm stone. Healthcare in this country is an abomination.

I had blood in my urine, and that was the only symptom aside from what you said. Every couple hours my kidney would hurt for a bit and then stop. @Stone Relief | Joey Weichmann hery thanksfor that man, last timei had a scan done i hadf 6 stones in there., i get them on both sides. but after losing my wife to cancer after the doctor made a mistake i dont messwith doctors unless im in huge trouble. they also are the ones who recklessely presscribed me pain killers and 20 and never told me what the effects could be, so naturally after like 3 months oftaking them ibecame addicted, luckily i sought help before i hit rock bottom, i found a doc i trusted and just went and told them , you cann not prescribe these to me anymore. i havea problem with them. no opiates for like 7 years now. but of course when i do have a kidney stone, they will do absolutly nothing for me, when i have an attack, i justwant them to help me with the pain, and pump me full of water to getit moving if its stuck. dont even want a prescription to take home

Bad GP. They should have taken CT scan and Rx photos to see what is there. Drinking water when you have pain is very bad as you can compress your kidneys

I opted out of the CT scan because of the high levels of radiation. Ultrasounds were enough to see what was going on.

It has been almost four years for me and I know that I still have a stone, but it doesn't bother me ever. As long as yours isn't growing and isn't painful, I wouldn't have a procedure to get it broken up. I would just recommend getting ultrasounds to make sure it isn't growing and you aren't forming any more. I hope this helps!
