Say what you will about recoded but everything from castle oblivion onward has some the best most POWERFUL punches to the gut in the series That line from Roxas about forgetting someone important gnawing at you forever is just so poignant The hurt test in general is just so god damned good as a dry run for the Prime Sora to take on all the burdens of the other trios+namine and set things right

Someone wrote up a post about how KH shows that simply forgetting trauma or having memories of it erased doesn’t erase the pain, and how powerful of a message that is. Like, even when Xion gets decanonized from the series to the point where she never existed, there’s still a Xion-shaped hole in everyone’s heart, and that’s what allows her to come back.

man recoded is such a fun time. when its not being really emotionally poignant, its the funniest game ever, and I'm so able to roll with both of those modes lol. unironically some of my favorite parts of roxas's characterization come from cutscenes here, also data soriku are incredibly cute and sweet

Some of the music from the DS games gives off MegaMan: Battle Network vibes. The two versions of a track called No More Bugs are my favorites out of this game. The lip movements are synced to the Japanese audio, but for some reason Hades is the only exception. The post-credit scene with Mickey and Yen Sid was also synced to the English audio.

I loved the ds version because some worlds played differently from the usual kh hack and slash. Some worlds were minigames, Olympus played like a turn based FF game.
