I only use ChiaoGoo interchangeable needles. I have them in 5" from 2.75 mm to 10 mm and in 2" and 3" shorties from 2.0 mm to 5.0 mm. I also have fixed 9"circulars for socks which I really enjoy. Sometimes I wish I had wooden needles for certain projects, but I definitely don't feel like I can justify buying anything else! I love all your pretty cases for needles and notions. You have such a chic style. ❤🧶

You convinced me to go for swivel cables! Put them on my christmas wish list together with the notion box. :) Also eyeing up the knitting swan pouch and project bags.. My favorite needles are my ergonomic needles from KnitPro: the nova cubics. I'm a tight knitter so I prefer metal needles. These are easier on the hands because of their cubic shape. I also tried the addi ergonomic needles but I prefer the KnitPro ones.

A great substitute for blocking mats is children's chad Valley soft foam play mats which you can find at Argos. My favourite stitch markers are my Knit Pro Mindful sterling silver plated Chakra set. I think I got mine from YarnWorkx.

Thanks so much for sharing your knitting kit! I share your love of swivel cords and wooden interchangeables. I have a set of Lykke needles, but never really bonded with them because of the cords. My set has black plastic cords that are sturdy but not very flexible, and no fun at all for magic loop. Your Lykke needles are beautiful and very tempting :-) I'm currently obsessed with Lantern Moon ebony interchangeables. They're lovely to hold - so smooth, and very sturdy even in the tiniest sizes. The joins are seamless. And of course, swivel cords! I purchased a full set, but tips and cords are also sold separately so you can have multiples of the sizes you use the most. The only drawback I've found is the dark color - it's hard to see black or navy yarns against the ebony wood! Before that, I was a big fan of Chiagoo interchangeables and even the infamous Fortes. The original Fortes may be the perfect needle for me: sharp pointy metal tip, sturdy wood needles, and swivel cords. But the joins were very inconsistent - very smooth for some sizes, but awful on others. After having the metal tips separate from the wooden needle a few times I had to put them away. (Chiagoo was wonderful and replaced the tips immediately, but the problem didn't go away.) My first favorite needles were Signature Arts metal circulars. They made an amazing stiletto tip. The cords were good for magic loop, but not exactly interchangeable as the cords were sized. So I couldn't use any cord for any needle size - a 4mm needle needed a 4 mm cord. Unfortunately, the company closed last year! For socks, I use Chiagoo red lace fixed and interchangeables. Nothing compares with that super pointy tip! Now I'm a little obsessed with your tiny Japanese snips - I may have to treat myself, because you really can't have enough sharp scissors :-)

I also have the drops classic knitting needles set and those were my first needles too! (Recommend for beginners!) I actually love them so much, now that I know it is compatible with knitpro and lykke is even better! It is also because that’s the only needles I have so I have no choice but to use them to knit and recently I wanted to try out knitting socks but I’m still deciding to get the chiaogoo shorties or just get the long cable ones and knit in a magic loop? I have both knitting and removable notions mostly for crocheting. I also enjoy making my own notions with beads! So far I’ve turned a few charms into stitch markers like my grapes, lemon and tomato charms that I made with mini beads, i also have a few tulip ones! Other than that, I have a gold scissors which my mom gave me, scrap yarn to hold stitches, a crochet hook, measuring tape and a darning needle to sew in ends. As for blocking, recently I just purchased my first “blocking set”, I bought normal foam floor mats with a knitpro dupe blocking pin set! I used to block with just a towel laid flat!

I have a tiny different perspective on needle sets, especially for beginners who finds it hard to commit to a full set. From fingering to bulky weight, you are most likely to use a range from 3.0mm to 6.0mm needles. Smaller ones are for socks, which often works better in any types accept interchangeable needles (dpn, fixed circular, tiny circular). And for bigger ones, i cant think of any, im knitting a bulky weight project now on 5.5mm. So that range of needle size is most commonly used, and most comfortable for your hand too. Buying them individually is probably cheaper and more efficient than a whole set.

That's why I bought Chiaogoo - they have a smaller sizes set and a bigger sizes set. The smaller goes up to 5mm. I've only just bought a 6mm pair to add to it after 3 years.

I have two sets of wooden needles and one stainless steel. They are different lengths. All Chiaogoo. Worth the investment for me since I knit with a variety of weights, materials, circumstances. I love looking at other people’s tools. Great vlog! 😊🧶 PS - I hate ribbing and sown bind off aren’t my jam. 😂

I think I might look into buying some swivel cables for my knitpro symfonie needle set (the needles themselves are great btw). They look like they might be a little easier on my wrists, and the poor things need all the support they can get 😆 Thank you for letting me know those exist!

Hi, Celine! Can I please ask if for the Winnie sweater I could use Knitting for Olive's Heavy Merino? No mohair strand, as I get itchy. Would that get me close enough to the pattern gauge so that I do not have to do any additonal math? Thank you!

Hi! I’ve knitted the heavy merino on 17sts gauge before and that was nice. Winnie is knitted on 16sts, you might JUST be able to hit that, maybe the fabric will look a bit slightly loose? Also, just noting that this yarn has really good stitch definition, so the short rows will probably show. Worth attempting though 🤗

Why are there so few knitting tutorials? There’s so many knitters like you who only talk about knitting. It’s super frustrating for someone like me who is trying to learn and can’t understand patterns. I think that’s why crochet is more popular. First of all, it’s easier because it only requires one hook but also it’s because there’s a plethora of crocheters on the internet who are happy to show everyone how to crochet.

Hey, easy, no need to come out swinging here. There are a lot of good knitting tutorials out there. Sheep&Stitch is really good for very beginners. But that’s not this type of video, and that’s ok.

Different types of knitting content for different types of people and preferences! There’s SO many knitting tutorials already out there on KZbin, and there’s also creators who exclusively do tutorials and more technical content (e.g. NimbleNeedles). On the other hand, a knitting podcast (the type of content Céline mainly posts) focuses on a maker’s projects and their individual knitting/crafting journey. A very typical format for this is talking about 1) finished objects, 2) current projects that are still a work in progress, and 3) future plans/yarn acquisitions etc. I personally prefer podcast-style videos because they’re longer, chattier and I watch them while I’m knitting. If those types of videos aren’t what you’re looking for that’s fine, but Céline makes such excellent content (she’s one of my faves to watch and follow along with 💗) and I thinks it’s a little unfair to devalue that just because it doesn’t align with your personal needs and preferences. There’s knitting content for everyone out there, and if you’re after more tutorials then perhaps it’s better to look for that in other channels :)

It’s all about preference, no need to be so harsh. I used to struggle with knitting since I started with crocheting and now I can read knitting patterns easily. It’s the same as crocheting and crocheting needs more than 1 hook depending on what you crochet, search for tutorials if you need one. Celine’s channel is where we watch her podcasts or vlogs as we get inspiration and share what we all knit, not where we learn how to knit. Since she’s not doing “tutorial” contents and you might learn how to knit here but not like a literal tutorial. Go slow and enjoy the process of learning and exploring the knitting world!

handmade by florence has a knitting podcast but also a few tutorials and free patterns. I was a crocheter before I learned how to knit and found her very helpful
