Hello!! So I made this cause I recently started watching an anime call kono oto tomare! I'm really happy how it turned out!! If you have any tips on what I can do to make it better please let me know!

Nice job. The only recommendation I could make is to instead of the flat wooden blocks, use thinner triangular blocks. The long flat parts are dampening the resonance. A thinner edge at the string will ring better.

I’m already planning on making a Koto for myself as well. From what I am learning and realizing is that everyone has their own ways on making a Koto..my question is since you have a side full of screw hooks is it ok to make the other side with screw hooks as well?

Nice work man. I really wish I could play real koto which is not available in my country. I really really loved its sound from the anime but I can't learn it as neither here it's available nor there are people who know how to play. That's why I searched making your own koto and nice attempt here. U got me 😭

Pro tip : watch series on kaldroStream. Me and my gf have been using them for watching loads of movies recently.

This is way too short for a koto, a koto is normally 5 to 5 1/2 feet long. And not a requirement but an idea I had for mine. Traditional koto strings are made of polyester, you can take some polyester thread and double it up on itself till it's the right thickness, twist them together like a rope and it works fairly well.

I made this as a concept I made a larger one as well I actually used tennis strings for that build because they were similar gauge

Thank you for making this! I just finished the anime too and am reading the manga now! I was looking for a diy video for this and this is great! Do you remember how much this cost you to make?

For this I use scrap piece of wood and fishing line I also bought harp pins so probably around 50 bucks I'm trying to build a new one that sounds better using tennis string since it similar thickness as koto strings

A question of what are strings?
@ImYourFavoriteGuy3 жыл бұрын
the string is fishing line I did make a larger one that I used tennis strings on because that was the closes i could find to the actual thickness of a koto string
