@tjroelsma2 жыл бұрын
@@1968spikey Not necessarily: I've seen a lot of guys who'll happily shell out a lot of money to drive a really expensive car but either can't or won't afford proper maintenance. Harry is obviously a serious petrol head and a collector and he knows what having and maintaining a fleet of cars means.
@1968spikey2 жыл бұрын
@@tjroelsma but in this instance ance Harry can easily be classed as "rather wealthy" which does make all the difference. Most of the car e enthusiasts I know would dread a bill that was into 4 figures plus and it could easily spoil the fun of owning their chosen/dream car.
@tjroelsma2 жыл бұрын
@@1968spikey Yes, but then those people's expectations weren't really based in reality. If you have to scrape together all your money to buy the cheapest and most trashed version of your dream car, then you'd have to expect having to shell out major money to get that car right again. But the same also goes for buying a decent high end sportscar: buying such a car is only the first step. Insurance and maintenance are two of the largest money pits with many a dream car, something a lot of people seem to ignore. If you manage to buy a high end Porsche, or a Lamborghini, Ferrari etc., maintenance will be very expensive. This is the reason many of these cars get sold at a certain age if the previous owner actually drove them regularly. Harry is a petrol head and obviously a fairly wealthy one. So he probably won't blink too much if the repair bill for this Countach ends up being say 20,000 pounds, because he already knows it might reach that figure even before he brought it in. Repairs on older supercars are by definition very expensive and a gearbox rebuild on this car is a very time-consuming repair.

Harry’s boundless optimism in the face of the compelling evidence that the gearbox is about to lunch itself is great. While reading the comments from those cringing over this sound or that reaction, I was thinking about how Harry always comes across as so incredibly genuine and transparent no matter what. This is precisely why I enjoy this channel as much as I do. Whether his experiences prove to be joyful, disappointing, or a bit of both, there is always a level of enthusiasm that comes across regardless of the value or the rarity of the vehicle featured. That's incredibly endearing in this day and age.

This Countach, is the car, in the color that hung on my wall and will always occupy that space in my heart. Just beautiful! Iain Tyrrell is the exotic whisperer. Couldn't be in better hands obviously. Eagerly awaiting the content that follows.

Harry, have considered PPF'ing the car? I think the cost of respraying the quarter over and over again does outway the cost of PPF. (or maybe omly the parts that are prown to chips?)
@grimson2 жыл бұрын
Yeah when he says 'Well there's nothing you can do about that' I was thinking, why not PPF at least the lower flares? Double layer it there & you'll reduce 99% of the chips.

I think that, at the moment, the gearbox is of more concern that the paint! There's a good chance that this could become a static-display non-running model...
@lucianocaruso23292 жыл бұрын
@@abarratt8869 or it could just get repaired? Why would it be static display? Cost of repair will be expensive but not compared to value of countach these days.

*Hi Harry. So sorry that you are having gearbox issues with your Lamborghini Countach. I'm not sure if I'll be able to pay the rent and buy food three months from now, but when I saw this video I put my own selfish worries behind me, and my heart went out to you. Stay strong.*

Poor Iain! Harry was really testing your nerves, I was gritting my teeth the whole trip! When Harry said 'That's the noise we want to get rid of.' I thought, well keep doing what you're doing Harry the noise will stop soon enough. :D

I'm really surprised you lived with and used the car with that noise for so long, I think I'd have pulled over after about a mile. Look forward to future gearbox content! Also if you get the stone chipped areas refinished get Tipper to PPF them. Cheers, Chris

Will the GTS score the loudest db meter reading for a 992 on the bit of bumpy road? Countach does still look amazing, early version Gandini hexagonal gauge cluster is amazing.

Stonechips... Tehre's a solution! Protective clear film! I'd have the whole front end of the Countach and all the footwell panels covered in it. Makes so much difference and sense on that kinda value car :) Even my volvo 242 turbo will be all done in protective film when i'm done with it. Great collection!

I doubt potential value of that countache is ever on his mind. And I'm glad he drives this car and has rock chips on it. Theres enough garage/trailer queens in the car world(especially with exotics and vintage cars), The world will be just fine if this Lambo doesnt get protection and isnt treated as if it cant see real world use. Oh BTW. FUCK FUTURE VALUES!!!!!

@@jamesrobert4106 Only subsidy in Canada for grain farmers is a break on the cost of crop insurance. But we get a huge carbon tax bill for grain drying, surcharges on all inputs, parts and building heating. All farmers forced to get bigger to survive. Cheers 🍻

I'd be putting 3M Clear Bra also known as Helicopter Tape or clear wrap on the areas your getting chipped and then just replace every few years. Almost invisible. I suppose a ceramic coat on those areas would improve the issue but not as strong.
