A little tip for you, If you fill the new filter with oil before you put it on the oil pump doesn't have to fill the oil filter before the oil goes through the oil galleries, so your motor will get full oil pressure quicker

Your correct about pre filling even if it's face up face down side to side the anti drain back valve will stop all the oil from dripping out the Filter so spill is to the bare minimal unless it takes you 15 minutes to screw in the filter in hahaha.

I know you said that you were showing what you do, so I'm not taking from that, but I also replace the fuel filter and check the air cleaner filter (especially) in drought times. Years ago I used to run a couple of taxis and my mechanic used Mobil Longhaul, a specialist oil for big trucks, but when I sold one of my taxis at 1.25m km, it wasn't using a drop of oil between changes, so that's what I was using in my 75. Caltex took Mobil over and the closest oil was Delos Gold, so I use that, now I've only done 225000km, but most of the mileage in the last 10 years is towing my heavy fifth wheeler, and it's still not burning oil.

If you can find somewhere to get cheap enough or good quality filters, it dosent hurt to change the fuel and air filter every 5000k too, just a piece of mind knowing that you won’t have contaminants entering the engine, if you look around you should be able to find a kit that has all 3 for pretty cheap.
@DanieSimpson6 жыл бұрын

@chopped_80546 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately with the 1HZ the oil filter is oriented in a way that is can not be filled prior to screwing it onto the block unless you're keen on oiling the ground you're working above.
@johnnyasus866 жыл бұрын
@@chopped_8054 you don't need to fill it up all the way, I have a 73 valiant currently and it has it vertical to the engine, still will be okay, also did it to other cars where it is slightly pointing downwards, the oil will only go out of the threads not the little holes(at least not straight away) should be fine, try it! Better clean a little oil spill then rebuild your engine

Better than 2H where vertical filter means oil runs out as soon as the O ring parts, and keeps running down your arm for another 3 or 4 turns until it comes loose. Buy a stash of washers and put a newie on each time. Yeah, the right fluids help get the job done. :)

Hey. Just a tip for next time, crack your oil filter first before you drain the oil, so the oil will drain back. The best way i find to do this is to loosen it until the oil starts weeping out at the bottom then tighten about a 1/4 of a turn this trick works on the hilux's and prado's (most of the time) so should work for you.
