A good measure to set up your Alice belt w/ suspenders actually, is to wear a BDU blouse and adjust the suspenders to hold the belt in the middle of the top and bottom pockets of the BDU. This will typically set the belt just below the bottom ribs, but will keep it off of your hips. 😎👍 (Info from my Fadder, that used the Alice constantly from 1976-1996)

Having the belt under the last rib was also standard for the German military of WW2 for their Koppel. (an archaic leather precursor to most Alice style LB harnesses). Back then "koppelhacken" harness hooks were integrated in the uniform and prevented the harness from slipping down additionally to the suspenders.

I love belt kits. The ALICE I tend to find needs to be worn high waisted. I figure it should allow you to access your lower BDU jacket pockets, though it's not quite as low as the Jungle Fatigue lower pockets. I'm a Big fan of the Russian SMERSH rig because I think it keeps the pouches away from your legs while being very supportive of the weight.

@@Sakattack2023 Ahhh brethren, I was among the last ALICE / BDU kids. I can attest to several facts: 1. We weren't fat shits, heavy drops were discouraged. 2.belts were high enough to be below ALICE pack kidney belts, as they were all worn together. 3. Slick fronts were common so the "getting small" practice could be practiced. 4. Mods were common, 100mph tape and paracord being the method.

I don't know about ALICE specifically but for the WW2 era web gear (which the ALICE is an evolution of) it was designed to be worn above the hips over the belly button area and hung on the suspenders. This goes for the cartridge belt and for the 1936 Pistol belt.

If your BDU’s are fitted, and worn properly. Then your trouser belt should sit right about the same height as your lower BDU shirt pocket flap. Setup your LC-2 pistol belt right above that lower flap, and adjust it, and your LC-2 suspenders accordingly. Your kit will be at a better, higher height, and not interfere with leg movements. Also, attach the rear of your suspenders to the buttpack. It keeps it from flopping around too much. Great vid! 👍

LAV is a wealth of knowledge who doesn't brag about things he's done. I've trained with him a few times and also hosted some of his classes at my local club. If you get the opportunity, take one (or more) of his classes. I love retro rifles and my first AR around 25 years ago was a Colt SP-1 Carbine. During some tough financial times I posted it for sale for a reasonable price, and to my surprise it didn't sell. Then I pulled the upper off and posted just the complete lower with the original 2-position aluminum collapsible stock, etc. It sold for $295 MORE than I had the complete carbine posted for! Someone bought it to do a "retro build", when they could have had a complete, matching, original Colt carbine for less $$! And the best part is I still have my Colt upper!

To prevent the LBE from impacting your thighs while running is to cinch up the Alice straps and have the LBE ride above your typical belt line. Also have the back straps connect directly to the butt pack to have it pull tighter to the body. Another old 11B trick is to cut out the metal clips on the shoulder harness and replace it with 550 cord (para cord). Do this for the alice clips as well holding the pouches to the pistol belt. This is way more secure than the alice clips and it will eliminate metal parts that dig into the body while in the prone or doing individual movement techniques
