Josh teaches how to use your skills to get what you want our of your life, on his stream the other this question came up.. He replied, everyone is different, and if you can hack a corporate lifestyle and that - go for it, but some of us want to make our own way and not work for someone else. I think that's what he's getting at with this channel and it's another means of income to him, but also honest and quite blunt advice.

Deep in our lizard brain we are programmed to take the easy and safest options because this keeps us alive. This is why society rewards us for getting a job rather than striking out on our own. I also believe that people discourage others from striking out on their own their own because, at an unconscious level, they don't want them to succeed and become independent from the system which they themselves aren't strong enough to break free of.
@letslearnabout49345 жыл бұрын

I honestly think that when you want to 'go your own way', it triggers some people's insecurities. I experienced that 5 years ago when I gave my 4 week notice at a job I had worked 11 years at. EVERYBODY panicked, asking me, are you sure you want to do this? Telling me there aren't many jobs out there etc. After the dust settled, several of them separately told me that they were unhappy in the job and wish they could do what I was doing. I sometimes wonder if what triggers people when you make a BIG move, is that it looks like you are going on to do 'better' things, find fulfillment, pursue something you're more passionate about, i.e. something that will make you happier, and they'll be left behind in the mundanities of an unfulfilling job which they feel forced to stick with.

I couldn't agree more, I remember my friends and family, and some co-workers filled out. I'm 33 now and I spent most my adult life as a CNA and a substitute teacher. I hated it. I woke up one day and was like "not doing it no more" Didnt even go into work, that day. Just left a message on their voice-machine and started brain storming how I wanted to make money. Which of my favorite hobbies I could make money off of. It took me awhile, actually ran myself down to where I only had 900 in my account and all my bills hit at the start of the month n I was panicking. My friends tore me about at this point. I wanted to punch the next person to say "I told you so" in the mouth so hard. Seen a landscaping truck drive by. I love mowing my lawn, its relaxing, I would sit on my mower and listen to music, or learn foreign language cd's. It was like my own little world. The truck was my light bulb. I had a riding mower, I had a pushmower, I had all the tools, and a truck. A B.S understanding of photoshop, I ran inside made a logo, printed up a crapload of fliers, stuck an AD on craigslist, I went wild. All in. I was 30, and 3 years Im my own boss and run a pretty well established Landscaping company. Not a single person who tore me down, ever congratulated me on my success. Rambling at this point, But yea. I love what I do. Wish I had realized it sooner instead of spending my life doing something I hated. Loved your post and it reminded me so much of the naysayers in my life.

@@xavdest5481 This is something I never understood. Why "selfish"? The company doesn't own you. You're not like a printer whose only purpose is to work for them just because they bought you. No. You're free to live for greener pastures as you said. I would even say this, damnit: you should if that's what your inner voice tells you to do. It's not selfish. It's a voluntary decision to take the risk. It's you being you, not being your parents, your teachers or your insecure friends. What the hell? Selfish?! You know what's also selfish, to think that this world should work in a certain way. Selfish and arrogant I would say.

Dude, I'm 5 weeks into coding bootcamp right now. Your videos really help me know what to look for. I think you're great. It's terrific advice. The places you talk about working at like they're hell aren't that bad. Spend 21 years in material handling with no degree and moving up. That was hell. I'm making the move and would love to have what these companies are offering. That's why I'm doing this bootcamp and hoping it's not a waste of 10k. How about if you could make a video of the good things I have to look forward to once and if I'm lucky enough to get a coding job. Thanks. I started with a hammer in my hand in the field am now a project manger in material handling. I just don't enjoy the industry anymore and look forward to moving to a comfortable work environment where I can be a number and leave work at work.
