I had my mini gastric bypass six months ago, already lost 7 stone (98 lbs); best thing I've done in my life. I actually can handle sugar-free sparkling drinks, but I have to be careful and sip them with a straw. As always, it's best to follow your surgeon's instructions. Also, even a few sips of a sugary drink (Coke, Fanta etc. are *really* unpleasant, and something I'll never do again). I have some videos on my own Vlog about the surgery and the people who call it 'the easy way out'... they're clueless :) I've put the date and time in my diary to check Twitter when you're in theatre and ping congratulation messages as soon as you tell us you're awake and dandy! x x Love the videos, you have a new fan! x

It took me about 48 hours to be doing laps around the ward (slowly), but I was out of bed on the first day to use the lavatory. The procedure leaves you weak due to not being able to eat or drink for a fewe days after already being on a very low calorie diet, but there is very little pain after the first day or two.

I gave up pop 2 weeks after my wife died this last January diet pop is very bad for you the sugar substitute is very poisonous and causes diabetes and a lot of other health issues.
