Thanks, Scott. I hold your take on these radios in high regard. Cheers.

Scott also did a review on the Alinco DJ-VX50T which is a $99 radio and recommended by Scott. That would also be a good starter radio. It doesn't have dual receivers but it does give you a dual watch option that the FT 60 and VX-6R does not have. I have a Yaesu VX-6R and love it. I also have an Alinco DJ-500 which is similar to the Alinco DJ-VX50T and it's a good radio. Good Luck!

I guess I'm one of the lucky few. I will admit that the learning curve is a bit steep, being a old Kenwood F6 user I had to twist my mind a bit. Out of the box, all bands Rx -120 dBm to -124 dBm (just to open squelch, setting 5). Checked the output power (Tx) on all bands, high power setting, came in around 4-watts each. So far the four band receivers seem to have a comparable adjacent rejection to the Kenwood F6. Plan to do a more comprehensive look under the hood when time allows. So, I may be blessed, which considering my luck with radio gear in the past it is refreshing. 73 to all.

I did two reviews on the kg q10g first was pretty good. About a month after that video I noticed the screen going blank and it not transmitting at all unless you pulled the battery then I worked fine until you turned it off and on again.

I never really understood the Q10H. 6M on an HT is pretty useless. Now, the 3.4w vs 6.8w thing doesn't bother me so much.....that's half an S unit. The sub 1w on 6M is definitely strange.......however......and this might be something worth considering.....there's pretty much zero chance that tiny little antenna is resonant on 6M anyway, so it's not like it was going to actually do anything. Now, a 1/2 wave 6 meter dipole....whole different story.

I stopped buying anything from Buy Two Way Radios due to the difficulty they created replacing my KG-Q10H. My issues were after the company gave you better customer service due to you having a KZbin following. I had to prove to them that my radio was defective. I have a couple Wouxun GMRS handhelds and a Wouxun handheld CB, however, I'll begin sticking with the Yaesu and Icom.

I have had more than a few people contact me and report that they had problems getting their defective radios replaced or repaired. At this point I'm certain that they know these radios are a problem. But they are still forging ahead.

This is the only Wouxun radio that I have had a problem with. My UV-9P is excellent. As is my KG-935G, KG-S88G and KG-XS20G. I'm also currently working with a KG-905G that seems to be good to go as well. I can't recommend the KG-Q10H, but I do recommend those other radios with a high degree of confidence.

Hi Scott, I really enjoyed your VX-6 operator series! It would be great to see a similar series for the TYT MD-UV390 Plus 10W GPS DMR HT. It's a popular model, and many people use it for setting up encrypted communications within their groups (after obtaining a business frequency license).

Great timing. As I type this, I have a TYT MD-UV390 Plus sitting on the table next to me. I will be doing not only a review but also a direct comparison to the MD-UV380 as well as an operators series covering both radios. Encryption will be covered extensively.

@@waterhead1027 Wouxun radios are actually normally pretty damn nice. When it comes to GMRS HTs there really isn't anything better on the market. You know it's too bad because I have other Wouxun radios that have been pleasantly surprised with their power output. I have similar results with my q10h. On 6m .28 watts. And I haven't found anywhere that mine does 6 Watts. Barely even three across the board VHF uhf. For $220 this freaking thing should breathe fire! At least do what it's advertised to do for crap sake.
