Sorry to see you leave the trucking videos. You have helped me with a problem that has been plaguing my truck for a year. Cost me thousands, your video, $41.00 and 5 minutes changing the part at a rest area saved me from having to buy a new truck. Just received my pdi as well and the truck is a new beast. Ty for everything and I’m certain you’ll be super successful at anything you do. I’ll keep watching and maybe you’ll be repairing my 5th wheel. May God bless you and your family beyond your wildest dreams.

PDI, as in delete or tuner? Dude, that programming will kill your motor in short order. Seen it thousands of times... Fix the truck properly. Ever hear of an EGR tuneup? Rawze has the video on that, and most motors are the same in regards to sensors and these systems.

You give it some serious thought about putting a driver into your truck. I had 2 trucks at one time, running local east coast area, home every night and drivers almost made me lose everything. I spent 10&1/4 years with landstar and retired in 2017. I wish you luck whatever your decision. Be safe.god bless.

The biggest thing to conquer is no one will ever run it like you run it. Another thing is if your "driver" messes up on your MC DOT hits you with that mess up even if you fire them. Conversely... those are the responsibilities that come with it. As a family unit we do real estate, dispatching, and trucking. Im long from having to run the lanes anymore but I get the hesitation. Get good procedures, keep belts fuses and filters on board and hope for the best. Ive watched you enough to know you have considered almost everything I said.... TRUST YOURSELF. It is hard to start, but anything worth doing always is! Good luck.

Im 62, went into business @ 20 with 1 truck, didnt come from a trucking background but started out as a mechanic, went to diesel school and liked it but liked driving better. Grew my business to 10 trucks, a small gravel pit,a landscape yard and a rail terminal. Once the downturn in 07 hit everything changed. Now bear in mind WE paid taxes( no 1099 stuff) shared health care and hoilday pay and vacation pay and had very nice updated equipment but the quality of employees for all sectors of our business was degrading by the day! Also mechanics is for the most part is a 25 year career. It will take a toll on your body. Trucking and truck rates are very good right now but it will level out alittle in a year or so. Now repair work is Good now for alot of the same reasons, NOT ENOUGH good repair people to be had. IMO do one or the other but dont do both. I like trucking but im a very good mechanic and have a reputation of DOING IT RIGHT but age and wisdom and my hot rod gene leans toward a slick truck and a neat freak personality makes me TRUCK. I build, I repair and its for the enjoyment but trucking is my true love, I TRUELY wish you the best but I say dont do both and remember wrenching is for 25 years and then its ROUGH!

Thanks for making the vid's brother I enjoy them. You are an awesome dude! Your good at truckin, good at mechanicin, and your good at farmerin! Jack of all trades to say the least. I don't know how many trucks I've driven in the past that had that slop from the 5th wheel. So annoying. Always trying to feather the clutch to keep that bang to a minimum. Didn't even realize they could be tightened up until watching your video you did lol. 14 years driving a truck and just learning that. Is that not normal? Probably is. I'm actually in the process of transitioning from company driver to owner op and would consider your offer of running your truck to try out working with a load board with land star but I'm in Texas which is a bit far from you. It would be the perfect fit since I'm mechanically inclined and have no problems carrying a tool bag and fixing my stuff. When you put the landing gear down. After it touches the ground you should turn it 3 times the other way to verify landing gear strength and stability before completing uncoupling. I guess you didn't go to school?
@donmuncy90143 жыл бұрын
Your comment doesn’t make sense if you are cranking the landing gear down than if you crank the orther way you are rolling back up??
@pawel32413 жыл бұрын
@@donmuncy9014 you lower it down until the landing gear touches the ground. After it touches the ground you crank it back 3 times. This allowes the trailer to drop on the landing gear when you pull out a few feet to verify the landing gear can sustain itself. So if the landing gear fails. The trailer will fall on your truck and you can recover. If the landing gear is good and holding you are free to pull away safely from trailer. You don't just unhook and drive off like this guy did. This is a lazy and unsafe way of doing it.

I wouldn’t put a driver in it. They won’t care, & let it fall apart. Maybe not at first, but eventually. Not trying to be pessimistic. I just know how people are. After fuel and all of the other nonsense at LS, you will net roughly 20 to 30% at the end of the month. I know some guys that say they are doing good there, but they live in their trucks or are in regions with regular short haul good paying freight. And LS does have that freight, you just have to live in the right area. Or, you can depend on an agent, but it takes time and luck to find that guy or gal with the freight, most guys never find them, I didn't. Then the agents, I don't know, many would not answer the phones, double and triple brokering is the norm and there are more catches to some of their freight than Carter has liver pills. Then the language barrier, dealing with Europeans and Indians is rather frustrating as most have no clue what they are doing, I think most of them are actually overseas, the reason so few answer the phone in a timely fashion, we are on different time zones. Oh I could go on and on with this agent rant... If I was to do it again, LS, I would need a full time dispatcher on the other end, that actually knows how to dispatch and what areas to avoid This I found funny, and this did happen... I picked up a trailer that was beat to hell, and called the trailer service line... I spoke with a nice young lady up in Rockford, and we were talking about the industry and all of that... She mentioned her and her husband were interested in purchasing a truck, and she asked me, having been out here for 30 some years, if I could recommend a good carrier to lease the truck on with... Ahhh, Honey, you work for LS... She laughed, and I soon parted ways. I leased back on with a carrier I used to work for, they have their act together now, and I am making some very good money without killing myself. I need to gross $700 minimum to $1000+ a day to be profitable. So far we have been easily covering that $1000 a day without going anywhere, and I am always just a few miles from the house. Average week is roughly 1800 miles or less, and the freight is rarely ever over 15,000 lbs... Very happy and finally making good money.

I used to be a owner and operator back in 1980s and it was great back then nowadays trucking has changed from good to the bad. These trucking corporations are trying to weed out the owner and operator single drivers that's trying to make a living they're taking over the industry. Today I wouldn't give a nickel to own a truck let it known to be driving one with all the idiots new rookie drivers and foreign drivers that has no respect no common sense of any other drivers. These companies corporations has no respect for owner and operator drivers or just for instance their own drivers. I hear gripes all the time from several friends even new people that I've met about the trucking industry. I knew back then when they come out with the new CDL license that things were going to change big time. Yes I had a chance to be grandfathered in but I passed it up so my trucks. I knew these regulations we're going to put a hurt on the owner and operators across this nation and I knew that the corporations of the trucking industry we're going to put a hurt on the owner and operators like they have. This is a rude awakening for the new style truckers, the old values of trucking are long gone. This is my story and opinion and I'm sticking to it. All I can say whatever you decide good luck economy is just about ready to go out the door

Original thought about a percentage pay. But now I am leaning towards selling the truck. If I do decide keeping the truck, will let you know!

Sell your truck, and start your new business, you will find that you will only be working for the driver, he won’t show up when you want him, he won’t have the same interest as you. So my advise is sell your truck and work at the new business. Donal, Ireland
