Matt (and others that will like to help), i'd like your opinion of which you believe is the best scenario (I'm taking the 1st step to fpv): a) buy a controller as first controller/radio that will use for a simulator and keep him for later on (JumperRc T-Pro, 1000mw elrs seems quite good)-up to 100$ margin. b) Buy a cheap FPV kit -up to 200$- use the included controller for flying simulator and toss them later. Thank you in advance.

I really want to stress something important about Elrs that I feel Matt forgot to mention: the Elrs community on Discord. There are absolute legends on there with semingly unlimited patience and the best characters out there. I had issues in the begining setting up link quality and rssi dbm in my osd, something that the JB video wasn't helping with and after a few betaflight screenshots they pinpointed my problem and guided me step by step till it was solved. Before bringing your questions to them though I would check the Elrs website for solutions: a lot of it is really clearly explained there: www.expresslrs.org/2.0/ and the link to the Discord server: discord.com/invite/expresslrs

I've watched probably 20 of your videos, all after I had made it through the slog that is "getting into FPV". I like seeing what is out there for beginners. I really like the way you present information. The way you boil down the confusion and present "what you need to know" really nice. I'm in a similar boat, I don't mind building or repairing but often find the learning software a hassle. I have also chosen to learn it anyway because I like the options. Plus I don't think DJI is a good company... so theirs that... anyway. Thank you for continuing to produce content helping beginners and intermediates get into this hobby, or get into new aspects of this hobby. Your chill delivery is encouraging and feels honest. Keep up the great work. Thank You

Everything in FPV sure does have a learning curve, and although getting into the weeds with settings and software may not be for everyone, like you said, it's getting easier all the time! Glad you're pushing your limits anyways, even though Crossfire works just fine. Cheers. Great video as always.

Thanks Dude. You are a great source of knowledge in the FPV world. You have been a source of simplified and straight forward knowledge from your days of FPVing in Korea. I found that the entire process was not straight and at times extremely confusing, so I chose to go with the DJI system to build with, so as to minimize my confusion. It has worked out so far and now I'm considering moving in the the Express LRS system. GREAT video.

I am just getting into ELRS. Everything to setup was super easy except for my BetaFPV nano TX module. I kept erroring out when trying to flash the firmware to it. I had to actually take the module apart, find a button hidden under the plastic case and hold the button down while it flashed. The only other weird thing is that when I plug in my drone it takes 20 or 30 seconds before my radio is talking to my drone. But I have 3 more Happymodel receivers on their way to replace all of my crossfire receivers. Crossfire is fantastic, but it's pricy and hard to find lately. the 3 Crossfire receivers I have is over $100. $48 for 3 ELRS receivers.

The cool thing about coming from Crossfire, is that Betaflight uses the same wiring protocol as ELRS. So once you bind your receiver to your transmitter, you can fly. I think the ELRS configuration is really easy to use. Also, for what it’s worth, I now fly exclusively 915mhz quads. And range wise, 10mw on my transmitter will get me the same range without fail safe as my 600mw VTX… That’s through concrete block walls and countless small trees. Love your channel!

If I use DJI goggles, is there really any reason to use a separate receiver for the controller and not just to use the DJI controller? Isn’t the range always limited by the video signal and not the radio? Why all the fuss about radios when the goggles are the actual thing that limits range?
@MattPochwat2 жыл бұрын
The DJI controller is one of the most expensive controllers (and has fewer options for customization). For someone on a budget, it's very likely that your controller could be the bottleneck for your range and ELRS is an affordable way to avoid that. I think the DJI controller is great if money isn't an issue though!
@MattPochwat2 жыл бұрын
With the DJI controller, you will also be limited to only flying digital. If you want the option of flying whoops and other quads, you might need something different.
@spikester2 жыл бұрын
@@MattPochwat Agreed the DJI controller is way too limiting, very heavy & bulky for what it is. I was hoping we would see air units compatible with DJI's 2.4ghz control link however at the very least so the V2 controller could be used in longer range applications.

Hey Matt! Do you think buying the Dji FPV for my first fpv drone is a good way to go, this battery management and setting up the drone all confuses me, and then later on build a fpv drone, or should I straight up buy a fpv drone, I’m also mixed since the dji fpv contains all the smart features like the breaking system which brings me a lot of confidence and the Rth when connection is lost, where as the standard one has a lot more customisation compared to the dji fpv but lacks the safety features.

If you are primarily interested in freestyle flying(rather than purely cinematic)I wouldn't recommend the dji fpv. it's far too fragile for learning ANY kind of tricks except open air stuff, and it's very dificult to have the discipline to not try risky things. Sim time in liftoff or velocidrone a bunch first, then get a decent RTF Kit.

@@Unstoople with that kind of deal, I agree, hard to say no.
