I’m not a picklewhistler but unmasked is a very underrated album. It’s not the Love Gun or Rock and Roll Over kind of stuff that Kiss was known for but it is a damn good pop rock record. Paul, Gene, and Ace has great melodies and chorus on the album. “Tomorrow” and “Easy As it Seems” are some of the standouts in my opinion. Great fucking list though. Ace’s solo album is so damn good

Despite my avatar, my solo album order is this: Ace Gene Peter Paul It's kind of an order of whose record surprised me most. Ace, everyone doubted he could put anything together. Gene, very undemonlike Peter, pretty much what I expected, but like Ace, surprised he could do it Paul, exactly what I expected. Not one surprise.

Ed Hooper It’s all about the When and Where for my favorite albums. When I became a fan it was 1976 so when there was a curve ball in the catalog I would be disgruntled like a MOFO!!!! Growing up with Destroyer, Dressed to Kill, Rock and Roll Over , ALIVE and then to bump into Dynasty, Unmasked, Elder and even Crazy Nights was like waking up next to a fat smelly broad😂😂🤩

I think you mean Unmasked, right? The Elder and Unmasked were the first two albums I got the remasters of if that tells you anything. She's so European and Easy as it Seems are favorites. I always thought the songwriting and concepts were special with those two. Unmasked is an underrated gem. That sugary sweet sound suits Kiss, and the production is top notch. I've sold Crazy nights so many times and rebought it. Only reason to own it for me is nostalgia and Bruce's solos.

I still have my original 33 1/3 Rock And Roll Over with the sticker sheet. I also think the KISS, ACE solo is the best. Space Invader and Spaceman as well as Anomaly.

FYI, that version of the first Kiss album with "Kissing Time" listed but missing from the album was likely original, a transitional/mispress from the tail end of the original pressings... On the US copies, "Kissing Time" was listed on the Side II label of the vinyl, as well as a sticker mentioning it's inclusion on the front sleeve, but was never actually pressed on the album. On Canada copies, "Kissing Time" was included in the track listings on the back of the sleeve, but not printed on the Side II label of the vinyl itself, and the track was never actually pressed to the album. I could be wrong, I'm by no means a Kiss aficionado, just happened to be digging through this info on Discogs the other day before I came across this video. $80 actually seems to be roughly the going rate (in 2022 at least).

I love Crazy Nights! I came to KISS through their non make-up stuff so it has a special place in my heart. Much better than Hot In The Shade imo, though if you'd strip 5 songs from that album you're left with a pretty decent bunch of tunes I think. Boomerang is amazing! Both albums are better than the Peter Chris and Gene Simmons solo albums for me. I agree that Alive III should have focused on the 80s stuff. It has a killer version of Creatures Of The Night though. Like it more than Alive IV, which is fun but a bit pointless.

I agree that Crazy Nights was a pretty weak album. I rated Gene Simmons' solo slightly higher than Peter Criss's. The Elder was actually high on my list. KISS should have combined The Elder and Creatures of the Night into one concept album would have made more sense.

I just wish they had put more up to date songs on Alive 3...disappointing album. Dressed to kill and Animalize are 2 more dissapointing albums for me, they have good songs for sure but there is something about them that I get bored and find it hard to sit through the full album. Rock n roll over is one of the few Kiss albums that never loses energy from start to finish. If only they had better producers at times,I'm surprised Gene never looked towards George Martin at some point🤔. Keep up the good work🙂👍❤🇬🇧

I think Aces solo blows Paul's away..Aces is straight ahead Rock and roll and pure magic while Paul's has a few good songs but some sound like throwaways that didn't make it onto the Love gun album..Awesome list ..only thing I'd say is put 1 of their first 3 albums at #1..

You know, I remember when I was listening to the entire discography of Kiss when I was a freshman in high school. I remember saying Psycho Circus was the best Kiss album. As much as I like that one, I don't think that anymore. The best Kiss album.. I can't pick just one. Not like I used to. But if you ask me which era of Kiss I listen to the most, it's obviously 70s Kiss. The best era of Kiss! Wish I was around during those times! 7 classic studio albums, 4 solo albums, and 2 stellar live albums! They were on top of the world! Guess I was born too late. But the worst of the worst is Crazy Nights. I remember when I first heard it. It left me in a very bad mood. It was really that bad!

The Alive Millenium concert would be my lowest ranked KISS album....it sounded like a sloppy performance tempo dragging to hell and back, the Farewell Tour dragged like horribly both times I saw it. Top album ALIVE!....same lineup, both somewhat live performances. The original lineup at it's worst and at it's best.....add em together and divide for the average... even then it don't matter because the stage show dwarfs the performances somehow to give them a 90% overall which is great.

The Peter Criss album was the best. I didn't want it to be. I like Paul Stanley the best. But the little fact that his album is so good sheds doubt on a lot of what's been said about Peter Criss. He was tone deaf? He didn't play on the back beat? Wouldn't it be nice to hear more from Peter by a producer and band who knew what he can contribute.

Crazy Nights is definitely not the worst. The keyboards turned a lot of people off but if you pulled the keyboards out of the mix, it sounds like classic Kiss at the core. Hot in the Shade is definitely the worst, the song Read My Body is by far the worst Kiss song ever. It makes me cringe just thinking about it. I think Rock and Roll Over is definitely overrated too. Best overall Kiss album is Destroyer. The Elder is great and my number 2 pick. I think Asylum gets a lot of negative opinions but I think its a solid album. Lick It Up is good and I like it more and more as time goes on, probably the best of the non makeup days. Half of Revenge is good, the other half is weak. Carnival of Souls is good and I would rank it high on the list.

Wow, how did I miss this video last year? Ok to be honest my two favorites of the solo stuff was Paul #1 and Peter #2 lol. I liked Ace's guitar work but to be honest I really don't like Ace's voice, he never uses any vibrato in his voice it just kind of falls flat. For me my favorite of the non-makeup years is Revenge with Lick it up a close second. I just felt on Revenge they were back to being a much harder sounding band than they were after Lick it up came out. Maybe that's why a lot of people put Revenge so high is that it was so totally different than the 4 previous albums? Technically yes all of Peter's drums are from the concerts but his long solo in 100,000 years is actually a spliced together solo from 2 or 3 shows not just one long solo, but they were all live. I think the guitar work for Ace that had to be re-recorded was for times when his guitar volume wasn't right or something like that, Ace very very rarely messes up in concerts, at least that's been my experience with from what I have seen and heard anyway. Paul constantly messed up back in those early days because he was too busy trying to flail his arms around. I have watched numerous concert videos of them and that part in DRC where Ace and Gene are doing that little duet, when Paul comes in with that heavy chord, he messes that up numerous times!! LOL in one video Ace just turns and looks at him like, "damn dude, it's one fucking chord you can't hit that right?" lol. I have never sat down and rated the albums myself but I think my top 10 would be all the original albums making up that first ten, I might put Revenge in over Destroyer lol. I honestly didn't like Destroyer, DRC, KOTNW, SIOL and Flaming youth were my favs on it. Hard Luck Woman should have been the bigger ballad KISS was known for, it was a MUCH better song than Beth. I didn't care for either Monster or Sonic Boom and I think Carnival of souls was just a sell out record, just Paul and Gene trying to cash in on the new movement. Maybe they were testing the waters to see if KISS could sell out arenas with that type of music and not do the reunion? LOL.

Id say the least favourite of mine would be Sonic Boom and my absolute faviurite is Love Gun. But i will say this...the weakest KISS song i have ever heard was Freak. I'm glad you gave Asylum more of a better ranking one of my favorite albums from kiss. My First kiss concert . I seen them at the cow palace. The band w.a.s.p opening band, great show. King of the mountain kicks ass . Paul and Gene vocals were on point and listen to Eric Carr and Bruce Kulick tearing up. Secretly Cruel is one of my Favorite tracks from Gene, Listen to Bruce solo sick.

@Andy Salter I love monster more then sonic boom. But I do love modern day Delilah, Russian roulette and say yeah. And hot in the shade I don't like either but I still love forever, rise to it, hide your heart and little Cesar

@@mikeracicot5003 I never thought of it like that the modern-day hotter then hell. I'm just not a big fan of grunge. Even tho I like nirvana. My mom loves grunge. I don't know it's kinda like punk in a way I may like Billy idol and the ramones but I don't like the sex pistols. I like a few grunge artist just not a big fan of grunge.
