That ending was amazing... ya know, if someone made an anime series about a gay female skeleton trying to live her life while supposedly 'heroic' people try and kill her with some ACTUALLY becoming her friends... I would love to see it.

no no no no.... it's a (at least) twelve episode series where the gender of the skeleton is never revealed, who they were before dying even their own name is forgotten. They still make friends with a few of the people that try to kill them; every one in the show upon meeting them refers to them as either "him/he" or "they/them" NEVER as "she/her" (most people do this with things they don't know the gender of naturally so it shouldn't draw too much attention) during their adventures and many gigs. Through these they come too accept not knowing who they and what they were; but at the start of the final episode the old lady comes in with the skeletons records they were a girl, an insurance worker from Ohio, with a few living relatives(optional(could also be some minor character we met ONCE in an earlier episode)), we follow her as she grapples with this new information as she comes to terms with her past, she wasn't some great hero who died to prove her love to some fair maiden, she was just some average person the kind you meet and pass on the street every day. she remembers the friends she made, each one approaching her over the course of the episode (leading into flashback recaps of past events) and her remembering the travels they've had, and realizes that past from before she died... it doesn't matter because what she has now her friends ARE her family now; her life now is the only life she knows so she goes and finds everyone at the bar/pub(really just some repeated hangout spot for the group) sits down with them and has a drink and smiles, for no matter who she was this is her home now and these are her friends. I would suggest not having any actual romance between the skeleton and anyone else making her ace seems to make more sense to me. Oh and the skeleton MUST be done in slightly more cartoony art style this will help further show the standout nature of a skeleton moving around in regular human society, as well as to stop anyone who knows about the subtle differences between the male and female skeletal structure from realizing the ending to early, or go in the opposite direction make super accurate so those who pay attention and know this stuff or when on a second watch can notice the little hints.
