the number one thing you should do with a friend who is suicidal is show them that you're still there for them but urge them to get proper professional help. send them the number for a hotline, assure them that you'll be there if they're too scared to make the first step. Being the emotional anchor isn't enough, they need to be able to find merit in their life that isn't just you. And it doesn't matter how good your intentions are: you won't be able to give them that. If their therapist tells them that their family situation is the problem, let them stay over. If they feel incredibly lonely, be there for them. If they're worried about their future prospects, encourage them. Be there for them. But don't be all they have, because that's incredibly unhealthy and completely antithetical to their recovery.

This was a brilliant approach to trying to help someone about to commit suicide. Taking them off-guard from their thoughts is a great way to redirect the place their thoughts are taking them.... And an especially dangerous place to go if you don't know what you're doing. Deadpool demonstrated that he was a lot smarter than he gave himself credit for. He was able to get her off his building, get her to watch a show to calm down and get back her grip on reality, and even take her to the hospital, ALL without her resisting or even knowing what he intent was. And after she's in a place where she can be reasoned with after winding down, he can talk to her about the situation. He even managed to get her to go into the hospital's entrance with him no less. Did he manipulate her? Certainly. Did he do it with the intent of helping her? Obviously. Did it work? Evidently. As someone who has themselves suffered with thoughts of suicide, Deadpool resonates with a unique energy in this. He gives off the outward personality that he's seeking to be amused, while his inner thoughts reflecting on this shows this suicide attempt hits close to home for him. He empathizes with what this random girl is going through, and takes that chance to help her make her way to a place where more experienced people who can use something better than a bunch of pills can actually get her out of that slump she's in. So yeah. I'd give Deadpool more credit on this. He's a lot smarter than he thinks he is, and is well-aware of the limits to high easily and to what effect he can help others. And in this short little bit, it shows without being grating, annoying, or simply depressing. And my hat's off to the two voice actors who decided to use their talents for this. It worked swimmingly!

The thing I love the most is that this is canon: this is official material. It's something that promotes help for those who are struggling with mental health issues in a series were the main protagonist has mental health issues. Many people who have mental health issues would relate, and maybe even see that their is hope and that they can get help. It shows that Deadpool himself is so much more than just a crazy guy who loves sex, bloody violence, and chimichangas, and that he actually has a lot of depth to his character, and well...a decent heart underneath everything, even if he isn't the best person at being a hero in the traditional sense. Deadpool does have a lot of experience with depression, self-hate and suicide. He definitely knows what it's like. Nowadays it may be because he really doesn't care due to being accustomed to it, but at some point of his life it was because of suicidal tendencies.

@theculturaldivide3 жыл бұрын
Deadpool never was "evil" or super chaotic. He's basically the true embodiment of an anti-hero. He does whatever he wants and nobody can stand in his way when he wants to achieve his goals. He has shown multiple times (in the movies and comic books) that he's willing to ignore the orders of people more powerful and influential than him just because he wants to help or because he has a clear goal in mind. He also has shown sacrifice before, he isn't heartless, he's just a little crazy. This comic actually fits very well with his character, showing basically who Deadpool really is. He has suffered, but instead of taking his anger out on the world, he helps others who are suffering.

Think dialogue like this that makes me think anti heroes are "better" heroes when done right. They arent self righteous, they are usually broken people and can relate to people in need. Thats not to say normal heroes cant relate, but most are written to have been blinded by a sense of optimism that cant always be present to the harsh reality of life. Wade knows he doesn't have the answers or wisdom to help the girl, but he has enough heart to know someone else can and guides her. Thats something you rarely see in comics.

Both accomplish in saying something about their respective characters though, which is part of the point. The All Star Superman version was written to show that Superman is the type of person to still care about a depressed girl about to commit suicide even when he's a being with cosmic-level powers and overpowering supervillains to worry about, on top of the fact that he himself is dying in that comic. The Deadpool version shows how deep down, Deadpool is a good person, and in this age of cynicism he might have the brand of care and comedy to handle a situation like this well.

I like this side of superheros, helping out normal people with normal problems, not always fighting world ending threats. To me it makes the hero's and the world a little more human/realistic
@emrahalien29722 жыл бұрын
Not a superhero the man kills anything and does not care and cares, he's a anti hero, he would kill you just to get some info and then save your mother at the same time but also accidently making her suffer in the process by not being dead.
@KantHandleThis2 жыл бұрын
@@emrahalien2972 the deadpool we've seen in movies usually kills only the violent ones or the ones responsible for some form of violence AFAIK. The "you" here in your reply doesn't refer to normal people. He's an anti-hero just because of the fact that he himself is not a good example of what a hero should be given his lust for violence and crude language.
@emrahalien29722 жыл бұрын
@@KantHandleThis your whole point is useless when in the game he kills superheros AND in the comics is no better then a villain or a hero, and my own line is "kills anything and does not care and cares" The line "anti hero" means lacking hero attributes.. like moral integrity, Selflessness etc.. he lacks everything like that not cause he's goofy his actual character is not the movie, that's rewritted idea of what he is, Making him better then he is makes people root for him. I mean like bro there's many heroes with " lust for violence and crude language." Guy almost killed fucking wolverine and your telling me he's some "only killed violent people guy" guy even made a game show to torture fucking spiderman and fuck with him cause he thinks his world is fake.. in spider-man shatter dimensions, like dude look at more stuff then the movie. that was made to make you think he's better then he is because its a new iteration COMPLETELTY.

If there was a way for marvel studios to release shorts like this with the mcu, I would love it to the core. Because it will bring light to how the comics was really good back then, not only does it make it seem epic, realistic(not literally but still) and entertaining but it also really brings the characters out. Deadpool for instance, this is the most accurate way Deadpool would handle stuff like this. Marvel really has a way to make their characters stand out and have “character”. It's wholesome how he saves her his way. First do some jokes to distract her,when she's distracted tell her they can go somewhere else (Hamilton. Good choice!),and finally just take her to the people who can and will help her out. Deadpool is fully aware he's the worst choice to help,at least in this case,but he's smart enough to know who's better than him at it. Plus even if she went to Parker Industries instead you cannot tell me Deadpool didn't know Peter was there and could take care of it too.
