MK1 is without any doubt my most played game on the Mega Drive/Genesis.

In the 90's I mostly ignored my Genesis except for Sonic and the occasional rental. The SNES got most of my attention. But now as an Aging Gamer I have a kickbutt Genesis collection and have made up for the foolishness of my youth. 😎

Haha, nice! I’m kind of on the opposite side of things. I played a hell of a lot of Sega Genesis and didn’t have any interest in the SNES. Now I look back at all the SNES goodness I missed and now I have a bigger collection SNES collection than I ever did for the Genesis. Both systems are awesome. What a great time to grow up in. lol

My fav console. Time to enjoy. Take it easy. Always wanted Sega Channel. You’re definitely a lucky guy for that one. Nobody around me had it either. Thanks for sharing that experience since it’s basically a once in a lifetime thing. Love hearing stories of it. Was it like Netflix for Genesis? Haha.

Yeah, it was pretty much exactly that. It was exciting. I was “sick” from school a bit so I could play. 😅😅😅

Great video! I love the longer format, even if I know it might take a little extra work. I, too, was about the right age for video games in the '80s and '90s. After transitioning from the NES to the SNES (core system) in the summer of '92, I traded that system (and Turtles In Time) to my classmate Claudio in January 1993 for his Sega Genesis with Space Harrier II. Sadly, Space Harrier was borrowed by another friend and almost immediately "lost", but 1993 was heavily spent by borrowing and renting a ton of Genesis games, most of which were the same ones shown in the video. I think Sunset Riders was the only brand-new Genesis game I received on a birthday that year, but I obtained many others used or through trades. Revenge of Shinobi, Road Rash II and III, Streets of Rage 1 and 2, Genghis Khan II, and Shadowrun (an incredible sandbox RPG and different from the SNES version) are among my favorites and all are games I revisit at least every few years. My family got a PC in the summer of '94, so from that time onward, my time with the Genesis was beginning to peter out, with less and less new games played by me over the next few years (with only Shadowrun, Genghis Khan II, and Pit-Fighter being the mainstays whenever my friend Daniel would come over.) 30 years on and this console remains as my #1 favorite of all time, even after my initial forays into Atari and the NES in the late '80s. (I also enjoyed my SNES -- obtained again as a Christmas gift in December '93 -- but that is another story that runs parallel to my time with the Genesis. Both consoles were great, but they offered very different experiences. Apples and oranges.) As always, I'm digging on the videos, my man!

That’s awesome. And absolutely agree that SNES and Genesis are too different to really compare the two. That’s cool that you had both. Throw the PC in there also you had the best of all gaming at that time. lol Also, i totally forget to mention Sunset Riders!! That game is friggin’ awesome!!! Haha

Wow great video of your growing up with the console!! That really was wonky music in the Spider-Man circus level. Truly maddening to hear that the whole level hahahha Sega Channel sounds awesome and truly ahead of its time. Awesome video--I love these personal videos of your's

Thank you! And Haha, yeah, that Spider-Man game has a lot of quirks. I kind of want to review it now. lol And the Sega Channel was truly awesome. I was very very fortunate enough to have had it.

I hella wanted the Sega channel as a kid. I had one friend that had the Sega channel, but it was because he did worked for Comcast at the time. Also, that photo of Rogue's ass talking about the X-Men animated series is awesome lol. But yeah, the Genesis was a big deal for me since I was a Sega kid and the Master System was my first console. You pretty much played most of the games I played growing up like X-Men, Streets of Rage, Shadow Dancer, etc. Probably the only other game I played that you didn't mention was General Chaos.

Sega Channel was freakin’ awesome. I think my parent were all about it because it was cheaper in the long run. I did my chores AND they didn’t have to buy me another Sega game ever again. LOL! Also, I had to look it up because General Chaos didn’t sound familiar at all. And yeah, I’ve never played that before. Never even knew of its existence😳 And also, SEGA KIDS FTW!! 🙌

For some reason, one of the games I remember most is Ristar. The art and music were awesome , glad when Nintendo put it in the retro thing. Oh!! Also used to play altered beast with my dad :)

I think originally the genesis was supposed to compete with the regular NES and blew it out of the water SNES came out afterwards and even with superior color didn't process images as fast as sega. Xmen was also my first game and I absolutely loved it even with its difficult platforming. I got to the last stage without cheat codes but never beat it. Xmen games 1 and 2 on sega are still better than the x games on SNES in my opinion. I did beat Wolverine adamantium rage with the help of the password system. Grandpa caught me and my cousins Mortal Kombat and about lost it lol. So many great games and memories. Much love for sega!

Haha, hell yeah! As a kid, the furthest I could get was to the Mojo stage. I remember beating Mojo and thinking the game glitched so I turned it off instead of hitting reset. x_x And LMAO! I remember being sneaky about Mortal Kombat too. When my buddy and I would have sleepovers we’d stay up until midnight, after everyone else was asleep, and then it was Mortal Kombat time! haha

@@TheAgingGamer yeah that was some revolutionary 4th wall breaking on xmens part. Not even sure what possessed me to restart it. Might have seen it in gaming magazine. I remember my Dad was cool with MK and even played with me. To him it was just a new graphic Mike Tysons punch out lol. He liked the fighting games.

Batman Forever............same here man......spent far too much time with that game on SNES when The Animated Adv of Batman and Robin SNES was so superior to Batman Forever.

Batman Forever was such an ass game. I somehow got the game for the Game Boy too. If you could imagine that game somehow being worse, the gameboy did it. 😂 Batman the animated series was tough as hell but I played the hell out of it. I need to spend some time with the SNES version though, because it wasn’t until decades later that I learned that the SNES is an entirely different game than the Genesis one. 😳
