Dani, for someone so young, you have found your place in this world and this fills me with Joy. I've got all the gear and then some (I like to build RC camera stuff) You are a very real inspiration, I hope children, mothers and farthers are watching this. To your viewers who think photography/videography is financially out of reach the Pentax K-r will knock your socks off. Considered outdated, the camera and lenses are very affordable and will give a budding photo genius a cracking head start.

I agree with everything you say Paul, both about Dani and that you don't need expensive equipment to be a photographer. It's nice to be able to afford all the latest shiny gear, but at the end of the day it's what you do with it.

Thanks for another wonderfully cheering video. If you're looking for a good, small woodburner for the front room, look no further than the Morso Squirrel. I just looked it up and was amazed to find that they still make them. I bought one 40 years ago when I lived on a bus and every day, after a day climbing and walking in the rain in Scotland it would turn the bus into a sauna in about 10 minutes. When I moved into a house it came with me and heated the whole (small) house for years. About 10 years ago I gave it to a friend in need and have missed it every winter since. And yes, it has squirrels on the sides. 🙂

Dani: there is a book called Mushrooms and Toadstools of Britain and Europe by Edmund Garnweidner. I have one of his older books is Swedish called Svampar, published by Bonniers. You might want to check him out. My book has very detailed descriptions on what is edible, what is poisonous and what can be eaten but does not taste good, where certains mushrooms grow, etc. The old book I have is specific to Sweden.

The best way to learn how to identify mushrooms is to go out with someone who already knows. Books are great, but experience is better. If you do go for a book, make sure it’s one that shows the stages of growth, plus what they look like when cut in half as it helps to work out which ones are safe, and which ones are safe to have when you’ve have some alcohol

Squirrels are very smart individuals and adept at solving problems. Saw this year an American program about squirrels, where they studied the squirrels' wits to think and solve problems. The American guy built a long course that the squirrels would walk before they were finally rewarded with food.. A squirrel walked the long obstacle course to get to the food, but it only did it once, already times after that the squirrel had figured out how it could crawl on the track to get to the food faster. However the guy made new paths to reach the food which they did only once then solved the ptoblerm to bother and quickly reach the goal.

Hi Dani, I'm so hoping that it wasn't Ghost on the road, it breaks my heart thinking about it. I have a black squirrel who has visited me for three to four years in my current location. She will take food from my hand . Once she disappeared for a while, and naturally I thought the worst. But she came back one day up on my kitchen window box. She stood on her hind legs amongst the flowers and I saw her protruding nipples. Yay! she had had babies. That's why I hadn't seen her. When I open my front door all squirrels dash away, but not Lily. That's how I always know it's her, besides obvious physical traits such as her shortened tail with a white streak and only three digits on her left front paw. God bless little Ghost. I hope she's at peace. ♥

For getting more into mushrooms I would recommend getting in touch with a local expert, if available. Often, people who live nearby the woods and nature grow up learning about mushrooms and other foraging items from their grandparents and parents. Also, professional mycologists can usually be contacted via a hotline or sometimes have regular dates at the local pharmacy or perhaps even doctor's, where you can go with the mushrooms you picked for identification. Make sure to always bring every part of the mushroom you need to have identified. The stem is equally as important as the cap for identification. Maybe, if you ask the locals, you might get lucky and hear about guided tours accompanied by experts in foraging that you could take.

If you can wait until next late spring or so maybe I can give you some mushroom guide books. My dad used to do workshops/ classes about mushroom foraging, I got a huge bunch of his books when he passed away last year and since I am quite interested I already had a lot of them so now I have several in duplicates and triplicates. I am planning to drive up to Jokkmokk, Gällivare and into the national parks in the mountains next late spring (end of april or may) so I will drive by Skellefteå. Maybe we can meet at some place and I can give you some. I could ship a few to you if you want but I am still sorting through them but definitely possible. I will be happy if the books come to someone interested and I love to see your videos !

I will have a look, what I inherited ftom my father. There might be some books about mushrooms. As a child I passed about 14 summers in Finland. But also in Germany where I come from we where picking lots of mushrooms every year. My father and my grandfather where very sure at choosing the right ones which are the most tasty and edible - which is very important !! Easy to recognise are chanterelles, porchini mushrooms, birch mushrooms, redcaps and anice mushrooms. I most loved mutabilis. They are little compared with other mushrooms. But you might need a good book to distinguish them. And when you collect anice mushrooms you have to be shure about not picking up a death cap mushroom which is also a white lamella mushroom but poisonous.

Guess they feel safe already and than their flow of adrenalin will not be that much anymore. I think your fur nose is a gourmet and of course we do everything for our best animal friends. I loved watching the progress you’ve made with your lovely home. As soon as I saw you tackling the wallpapering alone I kept muttering how brave you were. In my experience that’s been one of the most miserable tasks I’ve taken on, so you have my respect. And the return of the squirrels, which I’m convinced are in fact two of the babies come back (🙄). I think I recall Baby Pear had longer ear tufts, while Cheburaska had larger eyes, so I’m pretending to identify who’s who. I was openly laughing at their cheeky cleverness at getting to the food and thwarting your plans. Excellent example of getting unexpected results, though still great. So glad that things seem to be going well, and am excited for both the home tour and the edit of Baby Pear’s footage. Take care 💜

Mushrooms! As you know, mushrooms can be very dangerous. I would recommend that you find someone , up where you live, that can guide you through the world of mushrooms. I would never ever trust a book, you tube etc, is too dangerous. It’s so easy to mix them up. A tip is to start picking "easy" mushrooms as the yellow chanterelle. BUT before you start, find someone that can guide you. 🙂

I live in Northern Virginia, NOVA. The grey squirrel dominates. I usually have a handful of nuts, but they always want more! I've seen grey squirrels eating mushrooms. I've heard the grey squirrel can even eat poison mushrooms! I've seen them eating fermented pumpkins. Nothing is more pathetic than an inebriated squirrel.
