Lisbon is nice, but there are plenty of nice places in Portugal that are a lot less expensive while still being really nice. Once you get the whole permanent residency thing in order you should consider moving to the suburbs of a smaller city. Yes that will mean a 15-20 minutes train or bus ride to get to down-town, but what you get in reduction in rent and living expenses is absolutely worth it.

hey man, welcome to lisbon, and if you need any help, just ask! I was a tour guide in the city and worked on hostels for a while. unfortunately the rent is hell and it's hard to eat cheap even though it's still possible. we were nicer people 10 or 20 years ago, but now everything is so expensive and salaries are low so we complain. but our country is still beautiful a pretty peaceful fortunately. expo 98 was a landmark, a huge event for us because for the first time we realised we were actually good at building and hosting stuff. that gave us some self-esteem we needed. I was a kid back then and it was an amazing time. I'm not great about documents but I know people who are. and hey if you want to just hang around and have some stuff explained, you do have some portuguese subscribers!

Man you remind me of myself in 2015, when I went to live in Lisbon. Prices were hiking but not the stupidity we see today. Anyhow, that feeling of openness, green areas, sunny weather and the city itself which has a lot of white or light shaded buildings, which make it bright even in winter. Man I miss Lisbon....I was so happy next to that cable car. Not there anymore. Enjoy your stay in Portugal.
@xlukas934 ай бұрын
I dont understand his complaining about prices. Portugal is one of the cheapest countries in europe, even cheaper than eastern europe. Except for housing prices. But bills and groceries are really cheap in comparison to other places in europe. I am from slovakia, average monthly bill for 2 bedroom 70m2 commie apartment is 200-300e/month. Also groceries are more expensive than in lisbon quite a lot also VAT. Also rent was more expensive at one point, now i am not so sure, because lisbon rents went out of control, but slovakia is still quite expensive. But i assume rent is more expensive in portugal especially in lisbon. But when i used to live in lisbon monthly bills were like 100e, may be even less, groceries were way cheaper, especially basic groceries, yes, alcohol, candies etc... that was more expensive.

@@xlukas93 He complains about prices because he always lived in Russia\Georgia. I don't know about bills\groceries in Slovakia, but what do you mean "also VAT"? VAT in Portugal is higher than Slovakia (23% vs 20%).
@xlukas934 ай бұрын
@@WakerPT yes but in Portugal was lower on basic groceries if I remember correctly. That's what we are talking about. Here it was flat tax on everything 20%
@grabedigger4 ай бұрын
@@xlukas93 I don't think that holds true anymore. Inflation skyrocketed prices, i'll give you the most egregious example, olive oil prices, these costed somewhere on the ballpark of 3 to 4€ a 0.75L bottle, now these cost next to 12€. The same applies to butter and other groceries. People are taking advantage of this, some local markets are selling local produce at staggering prices. Salaries are still pretty much the same, housing skyrocketed, bills are on the 200€ region. 200€ for a 70m2 apartment not even in remote Portugal. Things changed..for the worse.

Dear Roman. 1st thing. It is OK to feel depressed. You are allowed. Knowing this look after your mental health the best way you can and count every little victory as a victory. Talk to a professional if you feel the need. When people move to another place they go through different stages too. From honeymoon to resentment to acceptance and adaptation. It is just part of the process. Portugal is my home, despite me living abroad. It is lovely and infuriating. It is open armed and stuborn and close minded...it is everything so choose the circles that give you joy. The people that welcome you and treat you well and keave behind the ones who do not. It will be tough but I hope your heart will one day call our little country yours too. And one day you will travel and maybe even move (a Portuguese passport will help)...you are a wonderer, a free spirit after all but hopefully you will still want to come back for a rest. I also hope one day, perhaps sooner than you think, things will change in Russia and you will be able to go back without fear. The place where we grow up. Ugly or pretty is always ours the most. Now go find things and people that bring you joy

Hang out @ coffee places to meet people. Bring your laptop and do editing there. You’ll be surprised how many people you can meet! Lay out on the beach to get some color. Go to a beach that’s pretty well populated. Start an exercise program by first walking then incorporate running. It’s free and you will definitely feel better doing that than staying in your apartment. ✌️❤👍

Roman you need to make video on how you tackling the Portuguese language. Are you taking lessons? Using language apps, friend help etc.?

If it's still there, Taberna Sal Grosso in Lisbon is amazing. Went there several times and it's amazing, fresh and it's a tiny hole in the wall place that the tourists don't end up in.

10:00 as tall as you are you can stand to carry a few more pounds on you. You had gotten way too skinny there at one point & most ppl who drop a lot & then gain some back over time are critical of themselves about it (but doesnt mean ya need to lose any again, just tone up what ya have). Just consider it grown man weight. None of us should as a full grown adult weigh/look the same as we did at 12yrs old.

In Portugal, the burreacracy is such that you often need to go to a Notarius Publicus to make sure your documents are company in order before you visit the government. So if someone can recommend one, you should take a note.

I'm Portuguese and I live in Tbilisi, Georgia. There are a couple of things you missed: Taxes are a big issue and you basically forgot to mention the tax difference. In Georgia, as a single entrepreneur, you and I pay only 1% in taxes, and in Portugal 40% on green receipts. You don't have NHR anymore. So, what you're not saying is that you're sacrificing everything for a passport in 5 years.

Every single portuguese who emigrates HAS to underline the negatives about Portugal on youtube. It's almost like you have to keep validating your desire to move abroad. Its ok to emigrate and still feel like Portugal is ok, ya know? :)

@@jeanjacqueslundi3502 i didnt say it was bad. Im saying that he omitted the fact that actually is life could be better in places like belgrade ou even stay in tbilisi. The reason he moved is to get the passport and the schegen. that's all
