Happy lunar new year from Seoul!! During this break I spent some time with friends eating a ton and enjoying the warmer weather and then Kurt and I went over to his mom's house for some traditional Seollal (Korean New Year) food! It was a very chill couple of days filled with lots of laughter and carbohydrates and I couldn't have asked for a better way to start the year. Hope you all had a good time too! Sending love!

Mask in winter is everything! It wasn't till I visited Korea in the winter that realized the brilliance of warmth a mask gives you. My first snow experience is pure joy. It was the day after Christmas and I was staying in a small town in Germany and I remember waking up to my first snowfall and then when hiking in the mountains with snow everywhere. Meet a random local with a tractor and he showed us around his town and countryside while we were on the back of the tractor. Truly magical.

Yes!! Masking up has definitely kept my lips from getting super chapped this winter. Since I work at a clothing store, it also keeps the synthetic fibers in the air from irritating my nose and making me sneeze.

I agree! We live in a pretty cold and super windy part of USA and whenever we go out we wear masks. It’s been so warm! When the kids play in the snow I tell them to put it on so they don’t get wind burn and cold too!

as someone who grew up in canada with lots of snow i always find it so sweet how you / other southerners talk about the snow so joyfully! i love the snow so much but i feel like as the cold winter drags on, you can start to resent it a little. that being said, hearing you talk about the snow like that makes me appreciate it a lot more so thank you :]

Um yes MASKS are a godsend during winter. Coming from somewhere with winters that don't dip much lower than 0c degrees/32 F I honestly could not handle Korean winter without a mask and a hoodie.

I love all of the cafes that you visit, and I had no idea that they were such a big thing in South Korea. I saw someone talking about one called Dreamy Camera Café that I think looks really cool and has a lovely idea behind it. They all look so cozy, and I think it's a great idea to take a little break from wandering around the city in a place like that. I need to make time for more coffee breaks when I can travel again at some point. I don't remember my first snow. I live somewhere that gets quite a lot of snow every single year, and in fact I've been told that there was a huge blizzard the day that I was born. So I don't have any definitive 'seeing snow' moment. That's another thing that I love seeing in your videos is that South Korea has a very similar seasonality to where I live. I would miss having four distinct seasons if I ever moved anywhere without them. Great video, as always! Take care!

Loved the Farewell! I wanted to hug my own grandma right after. My first memory of snow was as a little kid in front of our apartment building in Queens (NYC), rolling around with all the other city kids in the front "garden" area at the delight of actual clean snow (snow gets so dirty and slushy so fast in the city).

That vid that you mentioned, like two vids ago, you had many calendars up cuz you like the pictures (I keep calendar pics sometimes too😊) I am curious, what was the coffee cup made out of that you drank that great cup of coffee? It was so pretty 😍 Maybe the type of material the cup is made out of makes a difference?

All I did for Lunar New Year was not sweeping the good luck away (I'm very good at that one 😉) and eating potstickers. I do little things for Lunar New Year ever since I studied abroad in China and thanks to the fact that my uni city has so such a big Asian community, especially Chinese, there's usually something to do, like a celebration, or I meet up with friends for it, but obviously because of Covid there was none of that this year, so I'm just living vicariously through the Lunar New Year vlogs from Asia.

Wearing a face mask in winter is the best thing in the world! My family is from lie a REALLY small town of like 50 people max and so the virus is not a thing there everyone is just living normally but since it’s in the middle of nowhere it gets super extremely cold and I get sick really easily so breathing cold air was always a problem for me and i had to wear scarfs or just stay inside and do nothing but las year I woke my mask around for the entire day and (i got called crazy for doing it because why would I when there’s no virus over there) it was the best thing ever I didn’t got sick not even ones and I felt toasty and warm that it was like a blessing 😍 definitely something I will keep doing whether there’s a pandemic or not

i do remember my first snow actually!! my country is a tropical country so we don’t have snow here. when i traveled to new york city years ago it was winter and we saw snow for the first time ever! although walking around was kinda tough (lol) it was an unforgettable experience and this made me miss it :’)
