I love your day in the life videos also I’m still contemplating about moving out the states but I really want to live where it snows because I haven’t experienced it yet

It does not snow that much in CH anymore and the Summers are as hot as Hell. Along with flying Forrest cockroaches which are attracted to our lights and fly into the unscreened windows. It’s disgusting. Good luck.

Just visited Zurich and it was beautiful! Curious - how long is your lunch break? Do you have good work life balance in Zurich?
@simietoile Жыл бұрын
Hi Kristen! It varies, but normally a lunch break is a minimum of 30 minutes (for a full work day), according to Swiss employment law. As a journalist I often start work before 7 and am on call until late, so if news is not too crazy, I can take a longer lunch between 1-1.5 hours. Work/life balance is good depending on your industry and employer - the previous two jobs gave me poor work/life balance, this one is much better. It depends a lot on the company culture. I would say many jobs (not the likes of say, care workers, most journalists, bankers and lawyers) tend to have a good work/life balance here! Especially teachers and most jobs paid by the state get lots of holidays, stable pay etc. :)

Does the Muesli cereal have a lot of sugar and chemicals or in Zurich is it very natural? Do you get depressed in the long gray Winters? Is Summer really getting hot and it gets uncomfortable in the apartment and at small restaurants cuz many places don't do aircon?
@simietoile Жыл бұрын
Most food items here are quite natural, but at the supermarket you can find both more processed and sugary and healthier versions. I do find the long grey winters hard, personally. I'm used to there being no aircon and prefer it to the chilly air blasting indoors and then sweating outside, but I think that's a matter of habit :)

Hahhaa it is quite empty, except in the summertime... people stay indoors during cold season (which lasts very long) :/

Im planning on moving to Switzerland sometime! I’m just planning the logistics of it all, I know I’d need to learn one of the 4 primary languages, at the moment I’m studying French but what language do you speak there? Or do you notice people use the most?
@simietoile Жыл бұрын
Hey, so we have 4 National languages: German, French, Italian and Romansch. In Zurich we speak German (actually Swiss German, a dialect that varies from canton to canton) but at least here, you can totally get by with English only - everyone speaks it. However, I strongly recommend learning the language of the region you live in, it’s nice to connect more with the locals and the culture❤

Whenever I consider the idea of living somewhere else, I always come to the realization that all other places are just way more boring compared to Tel Aviv.
