Thank you so much for this pearl dear Shaye...i was thinking about this topic right in the last period....and i ABSOLUTELY agree with you!! I truly think that the top of the mountain is in the simplest things in life, like the hugs of our children, or the smell of the coffee in the chilly autumn mornings. Thank you so so much for this reminder ❤

Shaye, your best video ever! I am grateful for the blessing of time. Since lockdown my family and I have gone through all of the emotions. But now we have come to a point of peace and our days flow with more grace. I am finding gratitude, astonishingly, in the tasks I found to be so tedious months ago. My heart is ripe with the pleasures of phone calls (no texting), hand written letters and note cards, water colouring, reading, walking, long drives along dusty old backroads, breakfasts with my hubs, and so much more. I love what I now call the awakened ordinary. The moments and pleasures that, in prior ‘busy filled’ days, went unnoticed. Thank you for the pleasure of this beautiful look into your ‘ordinary’. Beautiful!

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Science, a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, and I worked in the ER as the head nurse for 13 years. I nearly finished my Master’s Degree in Nursing to become a Nurse Practitioner, when I realized what I wanted was to be a stay at home mom raising my own children, instead of someone else doing it! It may seem ordinary to most, but this is what I call extraordinary living! Getting to homeschool my kids is a huge bonus! But my husband and I do still dream of having a homestead one day too!

The simplicity of life brings happiness and peace within one song. Making breakfast for your family is a blessing to your family each time you prepare that meal gather those grapes the tomatoes and slice the bread and fry it and add something special to that bread that’s a blessing the ordinary knife is needed in this world today, I was raised in the 50s life was very simple, children played outside until it was dark up until the age of 17 and 18 years old, as a young teenager we were outside riding bicycle skating running playing sports at the local park, we were visiting neighbors and helping neighbors more than ever. I made a quarter every week in the summer having a sweet little lady down the street weed her flowerbeds. We didn’t go on vacations we went to our grandparents home which was about 80 miles away and that was our adventure or we will spend the weekend with our aunt and uncle in the country ride horses play with the cows and the chickens and walk the Gravel roads, make up imaginary games to play, the simple life. In my home my mother was a single mom because she was a widow and she learned how to be frugal she had a garden we planted flowers my mother did all the hands-on work in the house and it was a simple life we didn’t go to Disneyland or take vacations we didn’t go to movies because my mother was very frugal with her money. There is no simple life and the lives of children nowadays it’s technology which is a good thing when it is used properly, there are children that do not exercise and enjoy the great outdoors the fresh air and the meals that are planned for families now are usually fast food, which brings on distance in the Family unit because majority of the time the food is eating in the vehicle on the way to a ball game. We always ate dinner at 5 o’clock when I was a child we had our kitchen cleaned up homework done and we were in the bed by 8 o’clock at night got a good nights rest and was ready for the next day. I commend you and your family for your lifestyle and teaching your children the simplicity of life are not taking anything that God has given us in the way of nature food family unit

So beautiful! Thank you for sharing. It brings to my mind Ecclesiastes 9 "Go, eat your bread with joy and drink your wine with a merry heart, for God has already approved what you do. Let your garments be always white. Let not oil be lacking on your head. Enjoy life with the wife/husband whom you love, all the days of your life (which are a mere breath), that he has given you under the sun, because that is your portion in life and in your toil at which you toil under the sun." vs 7-9

This has got to be my favorite video so far! Ordinary is perfect! Not boring. Every morning I wake up, open all the windows and doors to let in fresh air, and head outside to water and tend to my garden. I pray out there, listen to sermons, and sometimes listen to a little gospel. Then I put the kettle on for a hot cup of tea and head to the shower. That’s my morning routine. I was recently told that I am boring. Not ordinary, but boring. 🤷🏽♀️

When you were cutting the grapes it reminded me of my Greek father who is no longer with us, and I can tell you, what he taught me. the skills of loving the earth's bounty, the pleasure of growing your own produce even in a small suburban Melbourne garden, how to drive a car, how to graft another variety of plum on a tree, and the tomato seeds he'd been regenerating year after year for the last 50+ years which I now have been blessed to have; that simplicity, that is the gift. My dad spent entire days in the garden and he loved it, it's what kept him here longer than we knew. Your gift is the gift of this life you have given to your children, and how to work the land so it's nourishing us in return. Your very channel enlightening us all. That love you have for Cece, that's the gift. Every breathing moment you have here is a gift, and that's absolutely perfect 🙏🏻👍😍💕

It may be ordinary...but it's beautiful. Thank you for sharing. My ordinary day is quiet at home as we are seniors and there are no little ones underfoot. I have transitioned, however, to taking care of my mother who is 85 and in poor health. Days spent with her are very taxing and stressful. As she ages and faces the end, she is getting more bitter and argumentative. It is hard to realize that she may be gone to be with the Lord before too long and that I, too, may have to face the challenges she does on a daily basis in a few years. But, God is good and I know He will carry us all through and provide the strength we need. God bless you and your sweet family.

Ordinary days are the best days; enjoy them while your children are still young; I wish more families could have these kinds of mornings instead of the rushed lives most live today. i have been simplifying my life more and more over the last ten years, even though i live in heavily populated southern california...striving to live in each beautiful moment i am graced with, and fully appreciating the simple (you call it ordinary) in every moment, every day. those moments usually are the ones burned in my memory of loved ones i have now lost (especially my mom), children who are now grown, and events in life that i had tremendous growth from. THIS was my favorite of all your videos...and i truly love your videos! THIS is what i believe makes great human beings. those who have come to this life to appreciate the "ordinary", the simple...the butterfly feasting on the nectar from a beautiful flower in your garden, a sunset that takes your breath away, the intensity of the little hummingbird's wings above your flowering bush, a great meal made from the things you grew in your garden, the smile on someone's face when you give them something they love that you made especially for them....THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO...it was my confirmation that there are others out there who see the beauty in this simple life, and strive to live a life that much of rest of the world does not seem to find quite as magical as it truly is!!!! 💕🌼

I used to be an avid horseback rider and hiker, always looking to see what's on the other side of the next summit... I'm watching and facilitating my child making her own first adventures and experiencing life with such a new and fresh perspective, in a way it has been showing me what you so beautifully articulated in this video. Raising my children was by far the biggest responsibility’s I ever took on.. If your gonna do it you’d best become selfless pretty fast. Not easy. As a parent you know you need to become what your children need when young specifically, and this isn’t glamorous, it’s basic, and basic is what they need. They need “ordinary” as you put it. . A basic building block. Because in ordinary there is structure, care, and love when needed. Your teaching your children this I can see. All done for the love of your family. Though ordinary is where we plant a stable place in their mind, and soul, one cannot be without the dreams of the great adventures of the heart and imagination. Presence and joy can also be found in the “extra ordinary” as well. It doesn’t want to be stifled. Because life can really consist so much of the time of just one damn thing after another, we also know it’s also sprinkled with happiness and excitement in between, and last but not least our dreams. Cherishing it all is being in the moment for everything, all of it, the good, the bad, and the ugly and the great!! Dream on!! ❤️

Oh I love this video ! So agree. My husband and I consider that there are chores in life so you can enjoy other things and if you are also learn to enjoy the little joy in the chores so your life become really sweet and beautiful. Our big dream is to be peaceful and happy with our family. The more humble you are, the happier.

Your ordinary life is my end of the rainbow, Shaye. Even with all my plans of travel and adventure, this is what I am looking forward to most of all: leaving the stress and anxiety of the rat race, and feeling only that peace and blessed tiredness after a long day working with nature.

Your ordinary is perfect in every way. When times passes by and your children are older, you all will have these beautiful memories. I’m constantly thinking about what is next, and about all the things I want to do, etc, etc... I found your video so beautiful and inspirational. Thank you. 😊

Thank you for sharing your ordinary life! I think this is one of the best videos you’ve ever done. It is important to recognize the magic that is before us. True joy comes from being grateful for every day things. After chasing grand adventures for 14 years I have been able to get back to what is truly important in our lives. Something as simple as canning tomatoes and peaches this year has brought more joy than any of the adventures that happened in the last 14 years. My grandfather used to say only do the things that will matter in 100 years.

Tears, hot wet tears burst in my eyes while listening to your sweet words. I really needed to hear you today and be reminded of this. We just moved to our blank slate homestead. We got a couple of cows we’re now learning dairy and care with, we have our big flock of chickens, we have 13 acres to play with, and a surprise pregnancy. I am so so happy and content to be ordinary, even with a full plate. Thank you Shaye.

Absolutely! You could travel the world and not feel completely and utterly fullnof joy and gratitude like that way your family and home and garden (all giftes from God) make you feel. Its about being grateful for what we've been given. God bless!

I needed this video!! As I sit watching this tears are rolling down! I am a homeschooling homesteading momma to 6 kiddos and sometimes I really get down on myself looking at the mess of dishes the garden full of weeds and the animals outside that have not had a clean pen in forever and start to think it is hopeless! Thanks for this uplifting encouragement!!!! It is all the little moments that make it all worth it!!❤️

An ordinary life can be a perfect life; when one can see the beauty in the common-place, and be perfectly content. Lovely Video.

You speak so eloquently, and right to my heart. This video is absolutely a work of art. I was hanging on to every word. This is one of the most important lessons to learn. In an overstimulated world, it’s so nice to be fully content with the most simple aspects of life! Thank you for sharing your art and your heart!

So precious!! God uses ordinary people. It is no small thing to live our ordinary lives with grace and deep purpose!!! Amen!! Consider yourself hugged. A great big hug and kiss coming from my heart across the oceans and mountains between us but oh so close in spirit. I don't know how to do one of those heart emojis on this computer. Thank you for sharing !! Keep on sharing! love your channel!!

Beautiful. Very what I needed. Years ago I was wanting to try meditating. I found a fellow who taught a form of it but he was teaching mindful meditation. And to this day when I am at my wits end I remember and practice and it calms me. Basically it is what you are doing. Appreciating every single thing. Every tree, every plant, the buds the leaves. I look up at trees like I did when I was a young kid lying in the grass and we savored all the leaves and the trunk and saw it in a glorious way. As we grew it was just a tree. He reminds to go back to those wonderment days. Appreciate. Just as you are. And your life in enriched. Not ordinary. Even if it is your day in and day out. What a wonderful video. It will remind me now to get up tomorrow and be mindful. Of everything. Every single little thing. hugs and luv

For some the ordinary and simple life is too simple. But I love it so much! To work hard and enjoy my home, garden and eat well...to serve others...I love it. Brings so much joy. I love your videos and appreciate you sharing your wisdom!

Thank you so much for this beautiful video. I have watched it three times in the middle of this night, unable to sleep, and am reminded of this blessed blessed ordinary life I am living, as I sip camomile tea and feel the comfort of a soft fleece blanket and give thanks for the gift of my own perfect ordinary life. Deep bow and gratitude for sharing yours with us.

I never achieved any of my mountain top moments. I'm 36 and still no prospect of it. For a long time I felt the pain of it and lived as though that life was just temporary, but in this past year I have come to appreciate the freedom of solitude and done what you mention in your video, wake up with the sun, make a coffee and face the day. Certainly a simple life is what brings the greatest contentment

Love this! You put into words what my brain thinks but couldn't say so eloquently! You ARE right about this being the best life. I've had 4 children too all adults now. It's fun to see your kids at the table in the morning, brings back memories of hungry kids and more...being a good and attentive mother is so important.
