I’m from southern Norway and grew up sailing the south coast of Norway and west coast of Sweden. Over the last 60 years I’ve had many experiences that gave me the feeling you describe. Priceless! I now live in Amsterdam, but I’ll keep sailing to these idyllic archipelagos of southern Scandinavia. Several hundred thousand islands means it’s impossible to run out of new places to explore.

Thank you so much for this video. In June of 2000 we went to Sweden to visit friends. They had a summer house on Orust. We sailed around the nearby islands. We explored. We shared a meal outside overlooking the sea. Our host played his accordion. The daylight lasted until midnight. I will never forget that experience as long as I live. Magic!

Your story telling is again poetry of the experience. Your willingness not to exploit every interaction on camera sets your channel apart. The narration of events is enough without being egregious. Like a book you paint a picture.

Sweetheart, you play the fiddle and the violin, and you do so most beautifully. I hope you have more of the duo between the gentleman and yourself, as I would love to see and hear it as. I am a great fan of Celtic music, being of Irish and Scottish ancestry. As to Aladino's comment about having no schedule to get someplace, I have long since retired, and as I will soon be eighty-four, my favorite comment is, "I'm retired, and I have no place to go and all day to get there." My wife has dementia, and she, as do I, absolutely looks forward so much to your Friday publications. Please, young lady, keep up the magnificent work.

That Celtic fiddle and guitar music at the end - WOW!! It took the episode to a whole new level. A truly magical end to a magical day. If you get a chance to sail around the Canadian Maritimes and Ireland, there could be epic music-making adventures ahead.

That deer footage was awesome. Ive hunted and studied deer for years..sat many hours in a tree by myself. You picked a spot and made it happen. I enjoy hunting but like you said the adrenaline of even a deer im not looking to harvest coming in is something spectacular. An animal to be admired and respected. Stoked on your energy

As an Irishman who remembers 'seisiúin' in pubs in Dublin in the seventies, I can completely empathise with the feeling of joy in sharing the experience of music. And, I can see in your face the complete understanding, at a visceral level, of the rarity and preciousness of what you have lived. May you both have lives filled with such intensity!

Along the Salish Sea one will find ant mounds like the one on that island. They seldom get that large because the bears will tear then apart to eat the larva in the nursery in the heart of the coloney. So when you start exploring here, know that is a bear sign.

Great to see you using Beilken sails. I grew up in the town opposite to where they had their loft. The Beilken family in those days, was one of the "hot" assets in German offshore sailing being part of the team that won the Admirals Cup for Germany in 1985.

Took me ages to find the island, by Dyrön and Tjörn. Even if I did anchor like you just beside Skutholmen this summer. I was almost scared you found a magic place in my home water I didn't even hear about :D I think RAN Sailing did som anchor between the same island about two years ago, before they passed over the atlatic and sold the boat. Your ecitment makes me so happy, I want out and sail again... With less snow....

I think you just described the scandinavian summer evening perfectly. They are always spontaneus - without a plan - the magic, warm air and the ocean - when the warmth of the summer is finally there - after the cold, dark winter (apologies of all the commas etc...) we just do exactly this - what you experienced. I am so happy you felt it and experienced it. I just wish that you would visit Finland as well - you would surely see the similarity to Canada there. All the best, love your videos!

Wonderful video guys Thanks. Back in 2019, during my sailing trip from Denmark to Sweden, I happened to anchor by Krokholmen little island. Which is very near to where you were in this episode. I sailed passed by again this year but not stopping there I carried on further north. But I would like to stop over and do some more exploration of the islands around there hopefully next year. And how wonderful to meet people and even make music together. Back in 1993 while visiting Thailand, I missed my guitar. So I bought one down there. And it was amazing how many people I got to meet just showing up with a guitar in my hands. Music opens the world.

I've been blessed with many shots on my 300mm f/4 Canon over the decades now. For anything I plan to shoot, I rent up to what I'm willing to carry, which is a faster lens or a bit longer. Lugging around 500mm is nuts imo (at my age) but 400 is versatile esp in a zoom. Good luck with your future shots!
