I cannot overstate how brilliant this ending was. It still sends shivers down my spine, the parallels between this song and the opening theme song, the way each pony's lines match their respective elements, and even the melody itself is something of a reprise of the show's opening. The book closing at the end as we see Twilight's student happily trot away with her new friends is so fitting, a literal bookends as the show opened with a book opening as well, telling the tale of Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. Seriously, the love and effort that went into this song and ending is incredible, a true magnum opus.

Even if I never got to experience the show ending, this song still makes me super sadhappy. And I think it’s just the message it conveys about how even if things change and you have to leave someone, it doesn’t mean you have to stop being friends, or that the friendship didn’t mean anything. And it doesn’t even have to be about friendships either. It’s just a really good song to convey what it’s like to part with someone or something and appreciate the experiences that you’ve made with them.

As a fan who was 1 year old when this show came out its so hard to see it go But one of my biggest shock was PINKIE IS A MOM NOW!! And apple jack and raritys parts really hut deep And I know alot of people who grew up ALOT from this show! Personally I think pinkie pie was my favorite! She and the rest helped me through a whole bunch and I don't think the actors can know how much They changed my life in a way no one can Honestly I thank Andrea the most for her voice of pinkie .pinkie pie got me through a whole lot bc when I was little I had SO much trama and pinkie was my support charater like a friend and I cried while writing this TYSM ANDREA

This was a show that didn't just impact modern animation, it left an immense mark on the whole world forever. This was a show broke down barriers, appealing to the very young and very old, black and white, girls and boys, men and women, disabled or able, and through every country and culture. It kickstarted the careers of musicians and visual artists, got first time people interested in forums, fanfiction, conventions etc. and most importantly, it taught everyone that friendship is the greatest thing that matters. It’s influence will very much impact so many generations, much like Beethoven Mozart, Mickey Mouse or the Beatles. We will certainly never see a show as impactful as this again in our lifetime or any other lifetime.

I can't explain how sad this song and episode made me. I didn't want my little pony to end. I feel like so much more stuff could have happened in the show. Don't get me wrong the ending was perfect but the show has taught me SO MUCH and was my whole childhood so it just ending like that makes me sad. This show was the best to me and I cannot watch this episode without getting sad due to the ending when the book closes and the tune of the theme song makes it worse. These ponies and this show will forever be In my heart. And the new my little pony show will NEVER replace this.

I wish I knew how to make KZbin videos because I would totally use this song to play over scenes from the series finale of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, my all time favorite tv series as well as my all time favorite series finale! (appropriately titled "What You Leave Behind") I would particularly use, The scene when the characters silently think back on everything they went through The scene where Chief O'Brien hugs his best friend Dr. Bashir as O'Brien leaves DS9 to teach engineering at Starfleet Academy The scene of Ezri Dax waving goodbye to Worf as he leaves DS9 to become an ambassador for Kronos, which was symbolic of his late wife Jadzia Dax saying goodbye to him one last time The scene where Kira sadly says goodbye to Odo as he takes his place in the Great Link to save his race from extinction The scene where Quark brings up "the more things change, the more they stay the same." And finally, the scene where Jake Sisko looks out into the void of space mourning for his father while Kira comforts him.
